Not so much a riddle as a logic question, but...

A room has three light bulbs. There are no windows, and only one door. The switches for these light bulbs are outside the room, out of sight of the door or the bulbs. Without using cameras or any similar means of cheating, how can you tell which switch turns on which bulb, without entering looking into the room/entering the room more than once?

Flip the first switch for ten minutes.

Flip it off.

Flip the second on and enter the room.

The first switch will correspond to the bulb that is off, but still warm. The second will be on. The third will be off and and cold.

Do I win?

This one is pretty easy.

My life can be measured in hours,
I serve by being devoured.
Thin, I am quick
Fat, I am slow
Wind is my foe.
View the spoiler for the answer to quiet_samurai's riddle.

A candle.

Edit:
What can run but never walks, has a mouth but never talks,
has a head but never weeps, has a bed but never sleeps?

Why is a raven like a writing desk?
(There are actual solutions to this)
Poe wrote on both.

Funny I should accidentally stumble across the answer while wiki-walking to nowhere in particular.

Yeah, I was really proud of myself for guessing when I was first told it. I was impressed someone here got it so quickly.

Quarter and a nickel.

Edit: Thought I was on last page but was on 2nd.

(This one is weird, it releys mostly on wordplay but whatever.) You are in a room with no doors, no windows, no exits of any kind. All that is in the room is a table, a mirror and you. How do you escape the room?

1. Look in the mirror and remember what you saw.
2. Use that saw to cut the table in halves.
3. Combine those halves to make a whole.
4. Then crawl out of the hole.

Not really riddles at all, saw them in a text book

using logic, estimate the amount of wear on a tire tread in one rotation, and the number of piano tuners in chicago circa 1950

(the two aren't related, and there is a solution)
