LOL i sort of love how this is sort of backfiring. everyones like YA good on Robert Downey Jr for standing by his friend and whatnot. MEL? fuck that guy
I think you quoted the wrong guy.Arsen said:To be fair, a "******" is not just a black person, but an ignorant, evil hearted, hate filled, society blaming, racist black person. And when you look at Jewish theology and Christian theology there are great differences. Jews emphasize their culture and dogma. Christians merely ask people to love God and His Son. Major difference in belief system there. If people can be mad at one religion for wanting to influence the world then why disclude others just because they haven't been as widespread throughout history? Does the amount of negativity for generations really matter in this case?Signa said:Let's not forget my favorite line: "I want you to SMILE and BLOW ME! During this he started making anti-Semantic comments. Also, there have been numerous phone conversations with his estranged girlfriend that she recorded. I believe in one he told her "If you get raped by a pack of N-----s, it will be your fault." And that was just a small excerpt.Sandor [The Hound said:Clegane]Wait, so what did Mel Gibson do wrong? Why does he need forgiving? I mean yeah he's a terrible actor but thats commonplace in Hollywood isn't it?Saltyk said:SNIP
Seriously. People need to get off the guys nuts.
Meanwhile, people still defend Roman Polanski...and Mel has to fight for his career.
While Polanski actions (for which hordes of people defend him for some reason) were obviously much worse than anything Gibson had said, I don't see why that means Gibson's statements should be ignored.Arsen said:Meanwhile, people still defend Roman Polanski...and Mel has to fight for his career.
Couldn't agree with you more, and that I did. Dominar Rygel the 16th.Saltyk said:Yeah, that's pretty much why I posted this. Is it odd to say that I'm proud of Robert Downey Jr. for doing this? Whatever you think of Mel Gibson, you gotta admit that Downey is really a class act for this. I almost wanna root for Mel just because Downey is sticking by him AND because he helped Downey when he was down. Anyone who would do that for a friend deserves some credit.
On another note, did you use to have an avatar from Farscape? I think we had a nice little debate once.
I forgave him after Edge of Darkness.Saltyk said:snip
Hmm.Arsen said:And when you look at Jewish theology and Christian theology there are great differences. Jews emphasize their culture and dogma. Christians merely ask people to love God and His Son.
This. I can applaud RDJ for defending someone who helped him when he was down, but when RDJ was down he didn't do anything as spiteful, hateful or evil as anything Mel Gibson has done. As vile as Gibson's actions have been I would be perfectly willing to forgive and consider seeing one of his movies if he gave any sign of having changed his ways. Alcohol is not a valid defence for asshats like Gibson, it relaxes inhibitions, it does not completely change their personality.SnakeoilSage said:I am only too willing to forgive Mel Gibson, but I can't forgive him through Robert Downy Jr. Mel Gibson has to stand up, admit to his problems and seek forgiveness for himself.
I applaud Downy's actions, as I applaud Gibson's for reaching out to Downy in his time of need. But this isn't just about us forgiving him, its about him honestly asking for it.
