I'm not sure if Blinky can finish the task of killing everyone, but he'll sure as hell will try.
This made me chuckle. I couldn't control it, it just happened.

But yes, Blinky already finished the family and presumably another two cops. He's going to keep on working away! I eventually foresee one of those warbots being brought in to take him down. Ultimate showdown, anyone?

Jesus fucking Christ.

I never thought introducing robots to the household could end well to begin with, and that's the problem when you give people who barely understand how a computer works access to an AI. I hope to god we can figure out some all-inclusive way to make sure the goals of robots never conflict with human survival, and if truly autonomous robots are ever introduced they should never be used in a battlefield role.

I may be some crazy bastard, but that movie made me feel more sick than any gore-drenched video game or war movie.
I have to agree with this as well. It was disturbing, even with the somewhat silly head spinning. Maybe this is just because I can realistically see us developing more household robots that end up having this sort of functionality (newsflash: household robots that walk and talk already exist to a lesser extent).

The only thing that ruined it for me, was, besides the carving up part at the end the glaring error which is:

If both parents and the son are dead, who phoned the police?

You could argue that in a panic, one of parents phoned the police, but surely they would have mentioned that their Blinky had gone psycho...

The Police just strolled past him, like he's perfectly fine.

So did he call the police? If so, why? no one ordered him to...

They also make it pretty apparent that the futruistic windows are pretty sound-proof during the short. So unless he went across the street to say 'did I do good?' to the neighbours, I don't see how they showed up.
If they were being murdered they might of shouted "Get Help!" or " phone the police or something in panic so he did as he was told. >:D
But in that respect, who told him to murder the police?
Doesn't sound like something the victims would shout as they were being carved up with an electric knife.

Beyond that, if he was still listening to orders by that point, wouldn't just shouting 'stop killing me!' have done the trick?

Stupid kid. My family gets heated moments like this a lot, but I can't imagine this happening. The family is literally the robot to kill. It comes across as cheesy. It would be neat if the boy was younger and having...a snowball fight with the robot. He would accidentally say commands of murder because he was pretending.

I understand why that wouldn't necessarily work. The boy told the robot contradicting commands. After resetting the machine, it still remembered commands. Not to mention it was clearly glitching to comprehend and remember all the boy told it to which caused it to break down.

Well that was fucking creepy... And it's exactly the sort of thing I can imagine happening.

Also, there was a nice touch when Blinky was cleaning up the mess right before the cops arrived. I thought that was a great way to keep the horror while minimizing the gore.

Remember kids, machines aren't stupid and evil because they don't do what you say. They're stupid and evil because they do EXACTLY what you say.

That was the scariest movie I've seen all year. Soon, events like this will be common and then we will be bowing down to our robot overlords.

I know Liandri bots from the Unreal Tournament series are meant to kill in the bloodiest manner possible, but this is just sadistic...

Geez just how much money do people earn in the future? Haveyou seen the price tag to Blinky?
Anyway it's really good and it's pretty much the kid fault for Blinky carnage. I guess he should of gotten counselling for christmas.
Inflation? XD

Well, that's a joke, but it's true to an extent. The cost of something today would seem insane back when you could buy a house for a few hundred dollars.

I thought they could have been more subtle when Blinky reavealed what happened to the kid, istead of out right stating that he killed him but the build up really worked for me. I also noticed how easily my interpretation of Blinky's expression went from goofy grin to slasher smile, without any extra effects to make hime look evil.

Awww, Blinky just wants to help out and do good. The story is creepy, but somehow Blinky isn't. This is why you don't give those kinds of commands, even in jest. Your robotic friend endeavours to please, and follow all your instructions. You do not fuck around with a system like that.

I guess I'm in the minority who saw the acting and the sense of it to be solid enough. There's some weakness to the reasoning behind Blinky doing these things, but for entertainment purposes it suits just fine. Blinky himself looks damn good, and I could certainly see some of the future of robotics in him. The dramatic parts are well timed, but they drag on a bit. Make sure to watch them the first time around or what Blinky does next will make less sense.

That got disturbing fast. Also, I'm pretty sure that I never want a robot friend... ever. I didn't really like the kid but... dear God. At least his parents found him delicious; that is until they discovered what kind of meat they were eating... If there are robots in the future and I have a kid who wants one then he/she gets a slinky.

EDIT: Additionally, it didn't help that I was eating pizza while watching it, bleh.

really good short.....that kid was annoying....and I don't know about you but that last scene with blinky killing the cops with that grin on his face I found a little creepy and will probably look around the corner for a lit up grin like that >.>

Pretty special. Not saying the child 100% deserved it, I mean, with his family situation the way it was and whatnot...but goddamn if he didn't abuse that robot. >_>
