Ah my old Rival, Seriously this dude lived an hour down the road, same name apart from the 'b' plus he has his origins in 3D design too.... bah.

Anywho, very intresting short with some fantastic lighting to get the robots to blend well, but there were a few moments the movments where a bit too loose and didnt give a good impression of weight from the Blinky. Saying that i even without the Spoilers in the main text, would have expected the dark twist from Robinson like, kinda why i like his shorts such a grey matter.

Good overall, but still damn popular rival >.<
Do you have any work you could link? That would be cool.

Oh my god.... I think I want to curl up in the fetal position and cry.
I've seen plenty of horror flicks but this one really got to me.
WORST 5 MINUTES OF MY LIFE. Anyone got a time machine so I can go back and tell myself not to watch this? Because I think the shock of that would be easier to deal with than this is right now.

Hypothesis: Blinky doesn't actually breakdown until the commands to kill are given. Is it possible that he is programmed according to Asimov's laws, and that was the contradiction that broke him? The child repeatedly ordering him to kill, when that is not in his function, is the true cause of his breakdown, just another set of contradictions which he cannot fix?

Further hypothesis: What if he actually was following Asimov's laws in this course of action? Focusing on one particular clause, "Or, through inaction, allow harm to come to a human", is it not feasible that this learning, thinking robot observed the pain inherent to the home it was in, and decided that humanity in general would only be safe from harming themselves and each other if they were dead? As someone before stated, no matter what course of action he takes, they are going to die. However, inaction leads to a slow, inevitable death of pain, loss, agony, and bitterness, perhaps leading to the direct suffering of others. Instantaneous death, on the other hand, prevents further harm to them. obviously it's circular logic, but in the broken mind of a malfunctioning robot, it would appear an easy deduction, eh?

I'm not sure if Blinky can finish the task of killing everyone, but he'll sure as hell will try.
This made me chuckle. I couldn't control it, it just happened.

But yes, Blinky already finished the family and presumably another two cops. He's going to keep on working away! I eventually foresee one of those warbots being brought in to take him down. Ultimate showdown, anyone?

I never thought introducing robots to the household could end well to begin with, and that's the problem when you give people who barely understand how a computer works access to an AI. I hope to god we can figure out some all-inclusive way to make sure the goals of robots never conflict with human survival, and if truly autonomous robots are ever introduced they should never be used in a battlefield role.

I may be some crazy bastard, but that movie made me feel more sick than any gore-drenched video game or war movie.
I have to agree with this as well. It was disturbing, even with the somewhat silly head spinning. Maybe this is just because I can realistically see us developing more household robots that end up having this sort of functionality (newsflash: household robots that walk and talk already exist to a lesser extent).
I now know what will happen!

Just as Blinky is killing the cops, the warmechs are activated to start WW3, killing the majority of humans for him.

his job will grow easier

That's not a more advanced robot! It's just one of Daft Punk going for a stroll!

And that became pretty damn creepy... It seemed after the reboot it remembered all of its commands, including the one about cleaning the kid and cooking him for dinner...

"Did I do good?"
specifically "if you make another mess like that, I'll have blinky clean you and cook you for dinner"

after watching it again, Blinky only pulled out the carving knife after Andy/Alex/whatever broke that glass of juice, which I thought was amazing attention to detail on the robot's part.

I wouldn't call this scary so much as creepy though until robot servants become a reality.

Logan, you missed a crucial plot point!

He didn't kill because he remembered Alex's instructions--he remembered the mother's instructions. "If you make another mess like this... I'll have Blinky clean and cook you for dinner!" And then, he throws the glass, makes a mess, and Blinky "does as he was told."
OHHHH! I missed that. I was wondering why he would, of all things, cook the kid into meatballs.

I've watched a lot of things that would be described as "scary" but they all pale in comparison to that. I never lose my appetite over things I watch or hear. In my bio class that I took last year I would walk out of the cadaver room thinking about what I was going to get for lunch. But I can honestly say that that made me lose my appetite. wow.

If I'm ever president or ruler or whatever, I will impose strict AI laws, chiefly the possession of a sentient AI with capability of physical harm. Operation of such an AI without a method of direct intervention AND a capable technician is illegal. Restrict them to strict industrial applications. And, most important, don't make a goddamn kid's toy out of them!

It just goes to show what I've said a million times before: Don't trust anything that SMILES ALL THE TIME.

It's not good. Not at all.

I had more fun reading's Baby Tea's analysis then the clip. I liked the use of the reflection on the newer-chick robot its front and back of it's head, bravo. The theme I walked away from was the whole imperfections of humans on AI's expectations to be perfect.

Very scary. Reminds me of the Simpsons treehouse of horror episode where a robot-operated house tried to kill Homer because of what he said.

My GOD was that creepy! And the kid was kind of an asshole, but the fact that not only was he the first victim, but that he cooked him into meatballs and served him to his parents was just so... UGH!

Also, the music really freaked me out, more than what went on in the short film.
