You know those people that say artificial intelligence is a wonderful thing? This is what happens when you couple AI with human behavior.

Why is everyone saying the kid isnt a good actor? When he screamed at the robot it was absolutely flawless!

It dipped when he was asking it to kill everyone, seemed a bit crowbarred in, but that was a problem with the script not the acting

I feel this works well as a short work. Some people seem to want a full version, but I'm not sure this could survive the adaptation process. After all, it seems to flow. However, the meatball scene seemed almost out-of-place. Most of the short left the sense of growing dread to the viewer's imagination, and my personal feeling is that having Blinky sit at the table and explain his actions just didn't fit.

"Show, don't tell", if you will.

Also, this. That scene was also slightly out of synch, imo.

Haven't these people heard of the three laws???
Yep, that worked out great didn't it? ^^
You just add a fourth against violating human autonomy. Actually, I'm not sure that that's even necessary. You just need to make them deontologists instead of utilitarians.

Ah Blinky takes a leaf from the book of Titus Andronicus :) Very good film really enjoyed it (kinda the wrong word there but you know what I mean)

"No Problem... Ready or Not... Here i come..."

Loved the video (too short to be called movie), and i liked the concept a lot... im glad the kid got what he deserved since he created the 'monster' in the first place.

Makes us think that if we had this kind of technology what would we do with it? Steal from others? create these kinds of monsters? Or would we get attached emotionatly to them, showing them the world and its endless possibilitys?

Off course a robot in a such advanced future problably would have Protocols to prevent these kinds of situations...

But ill say if i had a Robot like this i would have the most interesting conversations and problably teach him of free will and the endless possibilitys of the world, and who knows he mightv teach me something back... Interesting to say the least...

Aniway good video, loved it :D

That was a really nice short. Now would it be much to ask if anyone could make a .gif out of the scene where the robot is slashing? That part is high octane nightmare fuel!

Yes confirms my suspicions of what robots will do if we give them the chance.

I'm a little disappointed at the loss of subtlety that the film ended up taking on nearing the end, however, all in all, I'd have to say that this is a pretty good short.

The parallels between the parents relationship with their son and then his relationship with the robot were well done, and thematically I feel like there was a lot of thought put into it.

True, Asinov's Laws of Robotics would have nullified pretty much the entirety of this film, but one thing that I think people are forgetting is that clearly the 3 Laws are of very little importance to this society. After all, they're showcasing a weaponized robot in a news piece, so clearly human safety isn't a concern of theirs.

Someone on the first few pages said this was an issue of functionality, and I can honestly say that the statement that person made has altered my perception of the 3 Laws and how useful they actually are. Ideally, no robotics company would produce anything that could function without them, however, we live in a society that values profit and convenience over practicality and security.

Also, watching it back - was anyone else jarred by how quickly the mother believed Blinky? Such a horrid realization would surely be dawning, not instantaneous...
"You did what?!"
So your saying you wouldn't feel sick to your stomach that a robot, that really can't lie at all from what it seem, telling you that your child is missing because he cut him up, clean him and made him for dinner and your eating him right now.
No. I'm saying that even knowing that the robot can't lie, such a horrible terrible thing would not initially register. When someone you know dies unexpectedly, it takes time to register, often carrying with it a feeling of the unreal. When someone dies in a bizarre, unexpected, and horrible way, you don't believe it immediately without questioning it.
