He's wrong.

Parents who buy their 10-year-olds GTA IV, then sue R* for no real reason are terrible parents. There's no difference between a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old, so a parent buying their 15-year-old GTA really isn't anything awful.
Aside from 3 years worth of experience and self growth that is. And a parent buying their naive 15 year GTA isn't awful, that 15 year old having no self discipline or parental interaction is.

So it is a terrible parenting if they get you Grand Theft Auto. But this is my question what if it was your brother that gave it to you?

Well, it's nice to see developers publicly standing up to defend themselves against the tirade of uneducated hate certain groups throw at our past time. Definitely a good line to throw out next time there's the whole 'games corrupt children' argument comes out:
"Which games? Zelda? Mario? LittleBig Planet?"
"No, those violent murder/death/kill trainers! That one named after a fish... oh yeah, Cod! And Gears of War, and God of War... they corrupt our children!"
"THEN YOU'RE A BAD PARENT - those are 18+ rated!"
"But... the games..."
"NO - BAD PARENT! Learn to take responsibility for your child's upbringing!"

When society shows signs of cracking, I blame the media blamers as they're the ones who aren't looking at the real problems.

"Don't tell me how to raise my children!" - How many times have we heard that phrase of righteous indignation? I think parents are hard-wired to make this response whenever they hear anything judgmental. In this case, I think the parents are free to chose what's right for their kids...it's a free country after all. Being ignorant is a choice they are free to make. But if they know their kids, know the game, and think it's fine for them to play, more power to them. But really, why should anyone care what Rockstar says about parenting? They're in the games business to make money. That's what businesses do.

The people that should be called out are the groups that try to restrict access to adult content for all. For me, its a fight between the "Think about the children!" people vs. "Don't tell me how to raise my children!" people. It's so metaphorically pro-life vs. pro-choice. Rockstar's advice almost translates into "You should think about your own damn children", but tromps over both sides by going one step further to "You suck at parenting". Rockstar succeeds at sensationalism once again.

Finally Rockstar Says what we have been dying to tell these parents for a long time. Major Kudos to them.

Wait, didn't Rockstar make a Ping Pong game once?

Calumon: I only play Digimon and Jack won't let me play much else, besides LittleBIGPlanet.
Do you know how dirty it sounds to say that Calumon only plays Digimon?
Do you know the thoughts going across my mind concerning you are for that comment?

Calumon: I only got Dirty when I played with Terriermon that one time.

Nope, can't read minds. But you could tell me....slowly and in detail, preferably. :p

Just kidding, ofcourse. :p

Just out of confusion, do you always talk as both the digimon and you in each post

Why don't video game stores just have all the M rated games behind a curtain or something like movie rental places have for porn?

Even the most brain dead pillock who can't even read a bloody box will have their brain cells bump together and realize that if it's sectioned off, it's for a reason. Would this really be so hard to do? A single curtain with "rated M for mature" or something to that effect written in large letters on the wall above.

If we can get Oprah or Anderson Cooper to say something like this parents would actually hear it.

I wonder if GTAIV would be the best-selling game it is if not for all the sales to the 12-18 demographic. Well, it probably would, but definitively to a much smaller degree.

It's really less to do with age, and more to do with maturity. There'll be some kids who are mature enough to play these games, just like there'll be some adults who aren't.

While true to the fullest degree,I kinda have to say,if your kid can handle it then more power to you.Just don't complain when his tiny mind breaks.
