If Apple acquires Sony, it's the last time I'll ever own a Sony item. Ever. I'd go back to PC gaming solely. Apple is by far, one of the worst tech companies out there.
I'd go back to gaming on the PS1 before I'd touch the i-PS4.

apple.please stay the fuck away from EA (a.k.a. bioware) and sony. i dont need you making the ipsp for 1200 dollars and i dont need you fucking everything up and making every game locked down with zero modability and all DLC worth the price of a new game.

your itouch's are nice, but besides that, fuck off.

i'd love to see it happen, because the xbox 360 would have no chance with apple and sony teaming up against it.
As much as I love my PS3 I would throw it in the nearest bin if Apple bought it. Sony made a loss on every PS3 sold at release and it was still expensive, could you imagine how much it would cost with apples philosophy behind it?
apple products cost shitloads more than the competition, but they are the most popular, and seen as better quality products. if playstation products get the unique advertising and design that apple products have, they will sell like anything regardless of the price.
I was selfishly thinking of my own pocket, I like to think I might be able to afford the next Playstation (whenever that comes out).

I think that EA may be the target. Fun is what Mac's are lacking, and this is the opportunity to add it.
And it would be not the first rumor of apple wanting to buy it.
They do lack fun but fun at the cost of the games becoming about 80 pounds per game as Apple charge stupid amounts where I live. I don't think that's worth it.

Honestly? Severely doubt Apple has enough spare money to buy out Sony wholesale. EA is a possibility, but I doubt it.

Oh man, why couldn't they buy Activision instead?

Although I doubt this. Gamers often think Sony is a small company because they tend to think of it as a competitor to Microsoft and Nintendo. But Sony is a huge electronics manufacturer, I think it's the largest electronics company in Japan. I never had a Sony console but I played them on Sony TVs for most of my life, and though I don't any more I now use a Sony Ericsson cell phone.

My point is Sony is too large to be bought by anything smaller than Nike. If it was going to join up with Apple it'd be a merge, not a purchase.

Also rumored to buy Facebook and Disney. The first one who make it so you can only access FaceBook on macs. Push.

The second one makes every Disney/Pixar character for the rest of time a anthromorphic iPod. SHIT. SHIT. SHIIIIIIIIIIIT!
Haha, I'm sorry, what? Disney is one of the top 6 entertainment companies in the world. Apple is a petulant, greedy child in comparison to Disney's massive, virulent mountain man.

I'm also scared. Soon people will have to jailbreak their lives in order to get away from Apples influence.

OT: No, get away Apple! I don't want to see that symbol on any of the games I want.
Don't worry, there's always some young, plucky, teenage Japanese protagonist to get us out of these kinds of situations.
Unless he busts out the hair gel, I can't expect him to exceed.

I don't think the SEC and other governing bodies dealing with industry, along with the multitude of anti-monopoly acts and laws in the US and other countries, could possibly let this happen.

Disney - Generally successful animation studio. Home to Pixar, another product of Steve Jobs (a company that has not ever made anything save hit movies). Owns significant assets related to the production of films and other entertainment products. Generally represents an extension of Apple's capabilities more directly into the entertainment space. Significant real estate holdings with several lucrative properties including Disney World/Land.
Are you kidding me? The Walt Disney corporation is literally one of the most powerful companies in the world. I'd put about as much stock into Apple being able to buy out the Disney corporation as, say, Apple buying out Microsoft. It won't happen any time soon.

That sounds insane. Hopefully it's just rumors.

(Not hating on Apple, I just don't like the idea of huge "blob" corporations.

I really hope this is bullshit. Imagine the shitstorm that would hit if Apple ran a video game company like they run their own company. Way overpriced gimmicks that look sexy but bring nothing new, and Apple fanboys would buy it up regardless. I really wish for my Mac loving friend's sakes that Apple would get more into gaming, but this would be the wrong way to do it. I really don't see this acquisition happening, but I still shudder to think what would happen if it did.

Apple has the money to attempt the buyout but it doesn't make sense.

Sony is enormous and hard to keep profitable, Apple is already dominant in the sectors it competes with Sony in and Apple doesn't need Sony's technology for any foreseeable projects. Sony has a lot of problems atm, the Playstation's market share cannot carry it this era, it's R&D is costly, it's losing to Samsung in it's traditional areas of dominance and even relies on Samsung as a supplier. The company is large but directionless.

EA has halved in value over the decade, it's tried sinking money into new IP and lost, blamed piracy and tried DRM and lost, it can't stop it's annual franchises declining or afford exclusive sports licenses anymore.

I don't see Apple putting itself in a hole to try and turn these companies around.

Your life, permitted and sponsored by Apple.

I can't help feeling nervous at the idea of large corporations growing larger.
I know I feel it aswell, like a looming cloud kinda feeling. I dont like it.

Besides how could an aquisition of this magnitude be legal (not the right word), a competition commision of some type should have a say in this deal. Just think of the massive amount of Market Share Apple could accumulate with this deal, pfffft I dont think it is real Apple cant have that much money.

I'm pretty sure Sony is worth approximately 3 times as much as Apple. This is so very close to impossible.
