Title please, 'rumours' suggest no source as rumours aren't actually true, just things we heard from here and there, but yeah, read title next time please?
Well yeah, I understand that, it's just that I've been periodically checking to see if there's anything yet and so far I haven't even encountered any rumours of content, so I'm wondering where the rumours came from and what they're based on.

Begins at the end of the resource wars ends at the dawn of a new civilation. Being able to play as an entire family of people.
1st gen : resource wars (solider)
2nd gen : Vault life (solider's grandson)
3rd gen : post vault life-wasteland life ( solider's great grandson)
Or if you fail to enter a vault the solider would turn to a ghoul and knock out jumping to 3rd gen. Setting would be Nyc just to much content available.

Two locations spring to mind for me, Alaska, or what could be realy interesting, Hawaii.
Distinctly different settings/societies on each island, boat trips between islands....

I might be echoing others here but here is what should happen...

Bethesda sit back for a while and revel as one of the leading game studos and pump money into developing their groundbreaking new game engine.
They have a dedicated team to pump out quality expansions and patches for Fallout 3 and Skyrim to keep us gamers happy and replenish their coffers.
In a couple of years they may have had to go out of pocket initially to produce it but they can release 2 games from established franchises that will knock the pants off their consumers.
They could even sneakily maximise the revenue by releasing Fallout 4 first and then waiting 12 to 18 months for TES:VI.
If they do that then the new Fallout game will feature a combination of snow from Skyrim and whatever new environment effect they'll need for TES:VI.

So maybe we should be expecting The Elder Scrolls: Elsweyr... Sandstorms and the like...

Welp. It won't be in Europe since I believe that in one interview the writers said that the whole charm of Fallout is not knowing what is going on beyond the big pond.

And my money is on LA. That would be wacky and fun!

If it's in a big city, I'll be creaming my pants. Screw that desert shit, so boring. Fallout 3 is still my favourite game to this day, and if Fallout 4 is urban and has modding tools, it'll likely take it's place.

I REALLY hope that Obsidian develops it. If Bethesda does it, we'll get a ton of cool setpieces and fun environments for exploration, but the game's IQ will drop 70 points.
I don't understand this line of thought. Fallout 3 was soo much better than New Vegas. I didn't even finish NV. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't anything special compared to FO3.

I'm hoping it'll be Bethesda's project.
Oh, and this guy nailed it. FNV was so boring, I gave up after a few hours. Fallout 3 has 500+ hours logged, and growing still.

hopefully the inventory system is going to be more organized more like FO3/NV,s
as for the setting maybe shortly after the war? pre-war? where you get frozen as part of a experiment?

Fallout: Yorkshire. Oo arr.

I don't like the sound of NY, it might feel like it's been done already in FO3 cos of the city aspect. Another poster suggested Alaska, I would throw my vote in for that option.

Hand it to obsidian and it will be all fine ^^
Seriusly, Beth can make gameplay, but I want to slap them everytime they try their hand att writing and story.
Skyrim has no characters, where as everyone in New Vegas is a chracter, even the freaking mute robots!

Hey, maybe this time we'll have a form of transport this time around. Really though, I just want Bethesda to swallow their pride and ask Obsidian to come back and help. I want to see what they can do as a team.

So, Skyrim has just been released, meaning there is a new game to come within 1 year +. Me and some friends were talking about the next fallout, and to be brief, we talked about the following.

The new fallout is said to be set in a New York area,
You probably saw [a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VN1kHgKuBm8"]this[/a] when you should have been watching [a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGg6m7CEluE"]this[/a]. The second video is the one you need to watch.

I shall now quote that almost every time I see someone make the arrow to the knee joke.

I don't care where it's set, as long as Bethesda learns from New Vegas.
On another thread that popped up recently, someone mentioned that Bethesda should create the world for the next game, but Obsidian should write the story. I think that would have a very interesting outcome.

Surely they have exausted the U.S but I can't see the game taking any other directions because of it's style. Although Fallout:London with mutated pigeons and raiders in Buckingham Palace would be great.
