With respect - and believe me, there's very little of that to be had in this thread by the looks of it - most of you seem to be happily chugging down a healthy pint of rather questionable hatred. "Yaha", you exclaim in the voice of a slightly unenthusiastic pirate ?They express an opinion which doesn?t fit to mine! How dare they possibly hate themselves and express an outlook which is anything but positive! They sit in a pit of depression finding pain a form of self-control/symbolism/emotional release and a very small proportion of those people may contemplate suicide. Let?s kill em?, laugh about it then go home and listen to music about degrading women/weapons/murder/?sticking it to the man?/rebellion or _possibly_ Al Stewart.
I hate to break it to you folks but joking about actually ending their lives because of their beliefs and appearance is actually kind of sickening, and this is coming from someone who managed to throw up a curious yellow liquid this morning on an empty stomach. Admittedly I?ll probably express extreme views about cultures, topics and individuals but y?know what; those things will have actually done something to harm or irritate me. Wanting to nail someone to a wall and hurl hedgehogs at them from a makeshift trebuchet because of their abusive attitudes, threats of physical violence or expressions of racism or discrimination is not only far more justified than hating a ?culture? which is if anything self destructive, but it?s also damn good fun and pretty impressive if you manage to accomplish it.
Secondarily we seem to be confusing these apparent cultures. Goth?s, if you?re aware of the basis of the culture are more or less nothing like this labelled Emo group. If you were to stand a genuine Goth, not one of the slightly pale people you may have seen around your campus, next to a genuine Emo, they?d look remarkably different, act remarkably different etcetera. They seem to be bundled together because they both have a tendency to wear black clothing and listen to music which lyrically is different and sounds _slightly_ similar, in much the same way that you can say Green Day is similar to the Dandy Warhols. Additionally the genuine nature of these people really has to be questioned; a great majority of the people you see who are labelled as Emo would be more accurately described as ?Weemo?s?, or ?Wannabe Emo?s?, and are frowned at far more by Emo?s than you, believe me. These ?true? Emo?s tend to listen to far older ?Emo? music before it became a big faggy fad, and can more or less look and dress like anything.
Additionally, please, please don?t bash anyone who could even possibly have clinical depression or happen to self-harm. It?s pathetic, cruel and obnoxious and should really be made a flayable offence. I wouldn?t expect you to understand, just as I realise that I couldn?t possibly understand that. But look at what you so hate, and what they?ve done to you, as a person. Whined a little, maybe have been a down more than your average peon, listened to music you might object to? oh, it must be so awful for you. The reporter who published the ?Black Parade? article must have been either clearly unaware that they were getting their leg pulled quite roughly by someone, or were simply exposed to a very small sub-group who believe this kind of thing. Considering that mass murder, the destruction of civilisations and countries, war crimes and torture have, and still are being carried out in the name of religion, I don?t think it?s overly shocking that some people kill and harm themselves because of what they believe. And Russia can do as it pleases; it?s a country with a government that?s far more openly manipulative of its people than capitalist states, which does far worse things in less obvious ways. Go those red?s?
