Can anyone tell me why we as gamers hate "emos" besides bad music and being bitches... etc, where does the hate come from?

It's ...Beautiful... this is Progress! I'm moving to Russia!
When you get there, expect Rainbows, Sunshine, and Unicorns (Ukrainicorns?). No more emo = no more depression. Be prepared to give away your wallet to starving orphans.

as much as that sub culture annoys me (when I was in high school we called them goths and they liked gargoyles and cigarettes a whole lot more.) This is silly Russia shame on you.

Also, holy crap. You joined three months after me, and you've already nearly overtaken me in posts.
You joined 6ish months after me and have more posts than me.
Yes, but I'm sure you have a life. I, however..

I don't understand, Russia has always represented the pinnacle of acceptance in the world...
Oh boy yes, the Stalinist purges were very acceptance friendly.
exactly my point! who doesn't want a free train ride to Siberia with the promise of menial labor until you die, especially undesirables.

Please. Someone who is truly depressed or suicidal doesn't make a habit of telling and/or showing people the way the stereotypical emo kid does. People who have real problems don't usually make them known.

Emo kids just give the people who do have cutting/suicide problems, or suffer from depression, wear black, have piercings, are antisocial, have real problems, etc, look bad.
Personally, what a person likes as far as the occult and mythology, shouldn't classified them as emo or goth either.

Emo kids just want to be seen as extreme, making those that actually have extreme problems be shunned by 'normal' people who could help them or simply go unnoticed until it's too late.

Being a true 'emo' isn't a fad, it's a lifestyle that a person lives with, usually beyond their control. The kids who glorify the 'emo' culture have no idea what it's actually about and rarely have any real problems in/with their life or a natural mentality for the lifestyle.
It's the same thing as to what makes a person truly 'punk' or not. Most people aren't what they claim to be with that lifestyle either.
I agree with you more than anyone. Stupid e-tards not reading my post on the first page lmao.

I think people who hate emo kids without any information or reason are just as bad as the pussy poser emo kids pleaing for attension faking problems. They do it to feel recognised, to feel "cool." and flow with the main stream, I think all in all, all genres have 2 kinds of people, R-tards who wanna be better than everyone else, and people who fall into the lifestyle cause thats who they are and what they like. (not jsut to ***** at poeople and get attension)

So to all you people who said I hate emo kids, for some stupid reason, generallizing and assuming their all the same, are idiots and jsut as pathetic as the loser kids in the genre that fail @ life. Guess the internet isn't exactly the most prime place for a mature intelligent conversation so I can't tell you to go somewhere the intelligence of a kindergardner is tolerated seeing as the internet would be the best candidaite so... just stfu instead xD

As much as I dislike emo "culture" this banning of it is much more distasteful.
Agreed emo's annoy me *GENERALISATION* But the banning of free expression goes past annoyance and into rage. Also by banning the Emo's wouldn't you just give the whole rebel against a society card to play, you the one Rage Against the Machine held legitimately. Bymaking emo illegal you would probably make it more popular. It seems dumb that a government is trying to segregate and outlaw a fad that plays on the teen pre-disposition to feel segregated and outlawed by a society that "just don't undersatnd me" (said in a whiny voice with a hairstyle that will result in myopia just before storming off to the bedroom to play on a computer bought for them by people who really, *honestly don't understand)

With respect - and believe me, there's very little of that to be had in this thread by the looks of it - most of you seem to be happily chugging down a healthy pint of rather questionable hatred. "Yaha", you exclaim in the voice of a slightly unenthusiastic pirate ?They express an opinion which doesn?t fit to mine! How dare they possibly hate themselves and express an outlook which is anything but positive! They sit in a pit of depression finding pain a form of self-control/symbolism/emotional release and a very small proportion of those people may contemplate suicide. Let?s kill em?, laugh about it then go home and listen to music about degrading women/weapons/murder/?sticking it to the man?/rebellion or _possibly_ Al Stewart.
Edit : in response to the previous articulate post most *emo's* these days are of the My Chemical Romance era, who don't provide solace from depression they play on the teen disposition towards it. Many many people in the lower years of my school as i was leaving it were slowing being convinced that being a teenager necessarily involved becoming depressed because the depressed "lets go on a black parade and celebrate everything being crap and bleak" was what the cool music and the older teens were doing. It wasn't providing a sympathetic ear, modern emo is another trend like the mysoganistic music you referd to that plays on common teen demographics and attempts to turn them into fashionable teen years.
P.s can we have more intelligent posts like the ones quote, mearly sich I HATE EMO'S LOLZ really isn't adding anyting to the debate..and neither is my spelling.
Lmfao I agree with this dude and the guy he quoted (sorry for the double post)

P.S. I'm semi emo and I f@#)*$ing hate twiglight, AND the nightmare before christmas obsession -_- xD

I guessed i should register to comment on this. It seems that everyone here cheers at this ban without understanding one simple thing: gaming culture could be next. Subcultures can only exist in free society, and under totalitarian regimes they're either nonexistent or exist in very deep underground (sometimes literally). When someone tries to ban subculture, most likely they want to kill off civil rights and freedoms, and build 1984-esque totalitarianism, plain and simple. And you shouldn't cheer at killing of freedoms, even if it's freedom to be depressed whining teen. Your rights and freedoms is probably most precious thing you will ever have.

But well,i guess that's how freedom dies(see what i did there?).

And oh,this ban will only make Emo culture more powerful, giving them justification to their additudes, and "stickin' it to the man" underground apppeal. So this ban idea is EPIC FAIL.

The reason I don't like emos is because they make other people assume that I am one of them when I do anything that isn't humorous or jovial.
Although part of me thinks the more logical target for my dislike would simply be 'other people'.
