Before I even started playing the game, my uncle warned me that she died. So I wasn't surprised at all. I was more like "about time" than "NOOOOOOOOOO!" Not sure how I would have felt otherwise.Kefkacultist said:Even though she's more than slightly significant I have to go with Aerith from FF7. Thats my answer because as far as I know its the only time that a game has made me full on cry.
The only non-significant one is General Leo from FF3/6 (whatever you call it) because even though he fought for the bad guys he had morals and looked to be switching sides to fight for the good team until...Kefka backstabs the emperor and kills Leo
In Halo: Reach (I have no idea if you've played it) they actually put the names of the marines following you on screen next to your motion tracker, and a little red X flashes up next to their names when they die.Armored Prayer said:The Marines in Halo 2. Every time one died I'd revert to last save, thus making the levels 2 hours longer.
I was slightly less shocked because that was the third time that happened...Z3r0H0urs said:Wow, modern warfare 2 multiplayer ruined the whole reputation of the game. Even the epic Campaign. When Ghost and Roach died, I was sad and pissed off and shocked.
This one. I actually felt for her the entire time and when she died I turned Rambo and killed every mother fucker I could find for about an hour. It was really the first time I had felt any kind of connection to a character in a game and it (no pun intended) killed me when she was shot.J03bot said:Luisa in Red Dead Redemption. She really believed that what she was doing would make Mexico a better place, that Abraham Reyes loved her, and that things would be OK after this revolution. Then she got shot, and Reyes didn't give 2 shits. I was annoyed, upset, and a little angry when that happened.
Yeah, definitely this one. It also really defined the Darkness as being completely evil rather than an awesome power with evil tendencies.LogicNProportion said:ALSO:
When Jenny kicks it in The Darkness. Sure she was a major plot point kinda character, but for the brief time I saw her, I got a good vibe from her. You could just tell that she was the one thing holding back the monster in the man for Jackie. I can relate.
The thread title is "Sad deaths of slightly significant characters". Why would anyone expect anything other than spoilers?Snarky Username said:I was slightly less shocked because that was the third time that happened...Z3r0H0urs said:Wow, modern warfare 2 multiplayer ruined the whole reputation of the game. OT:Dr. Vance
I thought it came completely out of nowhere. Crazy evil guy popped up, killed him, then fucked off again. Doesn't really fit with the whole; "Everything is trying to kill you" theme.tomtom94 said:I get the feeling I was meant to be a lot more surprised by that scene than I actually was.Sephychu said:Luis Sera from Resident Evil 4 springs to mind. He's done some things wrong, he's trying to help;
Ooops.
Nevertheless, a great character who I wish had turned up more often. Particularly as he was voiced by a former Batman (Rino Romano).
Farewell, sweet Luis. Next time I play through that damn section with the house and the zombies coming through the windows I'll think of you.
I've just completed mass effect 2, and had no one die.AdmanUK said:Mordin from Mass Effect 2, I was genuinely in shock and more than a bit gutted =(
A strangely somber moment, in a game otherwise hilarious with cartoonish violence.Broken Boy said:Saints Row 2: Carlos Mendoza it sucks I couldn't save him.

It may seem silly, but one scene like this that I found moving was the death of T.K. in Borderlands.
He was a character you met towards the beginning of the game, but once you got into New Haven, his brother asks you to check on him. When you find him, T.K. is hanging from his fan like a puppet on display.
I liked the guy, and I'm not looking forward to killing him myself in Zombie Island, but if that's what it takes.
Crawled out of that bad motherf******. Coz he is that awesome. If only there was a way to get him and batman in a fight...Sacman said:but he was gone for the rest of the movie, so, did he really live?The_Eskimo said:he never died!Sacman said:Boba Fett, noooooooooooooo!!!
Aerith... annoying? She was easily one of the most complicated characters in the game that had a very hard life but was able to live it and keep her optimistic attitude. Lost her parents to ShinRa when she was a baby, lived with a foster mother with no father figure, constantly hounded by strange men who tried to abduct her, lived in poverty, lost her boyfriend who she never heard from again and helps Cloud and his friends for no reason other than the fact she has a huge heart.IamSofaKingRaw said:I don't understand why people gave a shit that she died. I personally thought she was a bit retarded the way she acted and when she died my reaction was "oh great now I have to use Cait Sith, F***"Kefkacultist said:Even though she's more than slightly significant I have to go with Aerith from FF7. Ya, the first play through that didn't really get to me, but after I played it through a few more times, I understood it better and really felt bad for Barrett. God I love FF7!~Midnight Crossroads said:Forget Aeris, everyone close to Barret Wallace dies. Biggs, Wedge, and Jesse were killed when Shinra took out the entire Sector 7 Plate, and Dyne died twice.
