Only two games have made me cry: FF7 (Obvious, I know), and Lost Odyssey. The game itself could have used some improvements but Shigematsu and Sakaguchi spun an absolutely beautiful, emotionally engrossing tale, the dream segments in particular.

It was all so powerful that I bought the game on release day to take my mind off of really troubling events at the time with what I thought was "an old-school experience", and had to put it on a year or so hiatus because every dream segment just tore me up every single time. I just couldn't do it, despite how engrossed I was otherwise. To this day when mortality scares me, I think of Kaim's struggles with being unable to die and it's strangely comforting.

Persona 3 & 4.

God damn, both of those endings are depressing.

You die of exhaustion, lying your head in your robot girlfriend's lap after learning the meaning of life.

You take a train back to your home town and all of your friends are chasing the train in desperation that you don't leave them. That monologue that Teddie gave didn't help any, either.

When you get THAT emotionally invested in characters, it's hard to leave them without shedding some sort of manly tear.

To the Moon.
Most people say that it had a happy ending- after all, Jonny died thinking he lived without regret right? But I think that it's a really sad ending, because with his new memories he doesn't remember any of the time he spent with his wife. He has many new memories of her, but the team has changed every single memory he has of her, from the happier days of their youth to the sadness of her final years. And at the end of the day, all that was left of her was Jonny's memories of her. Now even those are gone...

The Darkness.
Goddammit I love you forever Jenny.

The PS1 game Tenchu had a rather sad ending.

One of the two main characters gets crushed by a boulder trying to save his companion and some princess or something (it been years since I played it).

Alundra or Illusion of Gaia.

Alundra because I think at the end about 16 villagers will have died by then.

IoG because of Hamlet Q_Q

GTA IV (the ending one gets for making the deal)
Having previously completed it, taking the "revenge" option, I thought that there was only one ending
I thought I was PREPARED

Alundra has a scene with a certain character who you think is...untouchable due to mechanical reasons. You get new items when others die via this character, so you don't expect the writers to pull something like that on you.

Also, may sound silly, but Dynasty Warriors 7. The end of the Wei Campaign when Cao Cao dies. Just the look on Xiadou Dun's face. It's ironic that DW is plagued with bad writing yet Xiadou Dun seemed to be one of the better, more grounded, realistic and sympathetic characters I've seen in recent history (and yeah, I know, that says something really bad about the games industry lately). It's not just that scene, the entire last mission revolves around it to an extent, with Xiadou not even caring that he was able to best the mighty Guan Yu.

I was upset when
Aries (as she was known back then) died
in FF7 but I was 7. The ending to Limbo was quite sad, though I guess that depends on your own interpretation of it.

Wait...CQC hug? Why do I get the feeling that involves you viciously and brutally beating me to the ground then shoving my face into the ground in order to get the tears off?

Well I must've not played many sad games because I thought the obvious example was Shadow of the Colossus.

It got me in one of the first towns you visit.

The little girl who was ill and couldn't leave the town and he came to visit her and tell her stories and then she died waiting for him to come back.

For me, it actually Samurai Warriors 2, and Xtreme Legends...I know KOEI games don't have great writing, but I'm a sucker for romaces, and the endings of Oichi's and Katsuie's stories were tragic...Oichi's because her husband dies in her arms, and Katsuie's because he finally realises that his age has passed, and that the world doesn't have any use for him any more, so he sets his castle on fire and burns to death while his closest friend pleads with him to reconsider...They were quite sad.

The ending of FF7 crisis core

You know from the start of the game how it ends for zack but when you finally get there and he gives his life to protect cloud against unbeatable odds but you fight on doing all you can. He still dies, and his last words to cloud "did i become a hero?" so many manly tears were shed over this

Planescape: Torment.

I don't want to spoil anything but I'm pretty sure most people who've played it would agree.
