I don't understand how anyone can even feel sympathy for The Joker or even like him, he's just a psychopath.immortalfrieza said:The most recent for me would come from Batman Arkham City. It may be because I love the character so much, as otherwise I'd be glad, but in AC

Just tears me up, not to mention that it's an obvious sign that excellent game is basically over, which is enough to invoke tears all on it's own, a rare event.
Gah, that end scene had me in tears.gunman127 said:The Boss [http://www.arcemise.com/sites/default/files/images/a_true_patriot_by_arcemise.preview.jpg]
MGS may be 90% cut scenes, but still... it gets in your blood.
I'll always remember the plots of the MGS games, where I've forgotten so many other games
This game right here. A cutesy adventure game somehow delivered one of the biggest tear-jerkers I'd ever come across.ReinWeisserRitter said:Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness's climax comes to mind. No, I'm serious.
You'd gone to the past to fight what amounts to the god of time and space, kicked the crud out of it, and stopped its batshit crazy rampage. You head back down to resume your life of harrowing adventure with your cute Pokemon buddy that you've had with you the whole game, but along the way you experience some unexpected side effects: because you've stopped the time god's tirade, you've changed history, and since its actions were directly responsible for your being in the first place, you've retconned yourself from existence. Your friend, whom you've given strength and courage, made into a great adventurer and finder of mysterious treasures, helped make them who they always wanted to be, watches you fade from existence, and balls their little eyes out, begging you, their best friend, the only person that didn't treat them like a craven loser, who gave them a chance to make something of themselves, not to go. You try to reassure them and make them be brave, but you ultimately just leave them there sobbing, alone.
It was the fucking saddest thing I'd ever seen in a video game that I can think of, and it happened in a Pokemon game, for crying out loud, a series that lives off of useless excuse plots. Color me shocked.
Ugh, I need to go blow my nose. Damn you, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon!
First, people like the Joker BECAUSE he's a psychopath, and a damn good one at that. Second, that's why I said "otherwise I'd be glad", if it were just some Psycho that came out of nowhere, I'd enjoy seeing them dead, but Joker may be a complete monster, but he's such a effective and entertaining monster that's also been around forever that I can't help but tear up when he dies. It's like when you're absolute favorite show ever is cancelled, you hate to see it go, despite the flaws.Rasmus Emilsson said:I don't understand how anyone can even feel sympathy for The Joker or even like him, he's just a psychopath.immortalfrieza said:The most recent for me would come from Batman Arkham City. The thing that got me, was the fact that Batman said, "You know what's funny? I would have saved you." That alone makes me feel for the Clown Prince of crime.immortalfrieza said:First, people like the Joker BECAUSE he's a psychopath, and a damn good one at that. Woulda been sadder if Baker was actually a competent squad leader.the clockmaker said:The final scene in brothers in arms hells highway,

i know that feeling, I couldn't believe what I was seeing, I actually had to give myself a bit to calm down before I could play again.neonsword13-ops said:Persona 4 when...

I cryed like a *****. I really didn't want to play the game after that moment.
Not really, the whole point is that he is a good guy who is way in over his head and can't cope, so he tries to do the right thing but it keeps going wrong. That is way sadder than the cookie cutter 'I did everything perfect but god is conspiring to put drama into this scene.'Stash Krane said:Woulda been sadder if Baker was actually a competent squad leader.the clockmaker said:The final scene in brothers in arms hells highway,

Anyway, yeah, Portal 2 a little, DXHR a lot, Bioshock good ending, Bioshock 2 good ending right up to the last 90 seconds, Max Payne 2 a little, kinda Far Cry 2. And in DX1 when a certain bomb goes off, I got really mad because I thought you could save him (Oh my God, JC, a bomb!) but it turns out I didn't do the right thing. That's the nice thing about games: the fact that you control what goes on makes your actions carry more weight(though I did kill Mr. Renton like 20 times trying to get the 'what a shame' line.)
Oh and yes on the Republic Commando sequel.
