She wanted to smile back to reassure him and take the uncomfortable feeling away from what she was about to ask, but she didn't smile. Instead she drew herself a bit closer to him and looked into his eyes.

"Do you ever think... that you might be closer with someone than you thought?"

"Um, yeah, it's..." Sven looked over to where he had seen the fountain of blood earlier, but could barely make it out amongst the new crowd of people filing over towards the snack bar. "...right over where everybody's gathering around now. We better get over there quick before all the good stuff gets taken."

"You wait here, I'll grab something for you," Rochelle said, already starting to push through the edge of the crowd. She ducked under a faerie's arm, careful not to touch them. A group of vampires ahead of her tried to make their way across the entire crowd to the blood fountain, instead of doing the smart thing and going around. One of their number, a girl about her own age, paused for a few seconds to stare at the mark on Rochelle's neck, earning herself an answering glare from the angel. The vampire ran her tongue over a fang, chuckled to herself and hurried after her undead friends.

Unsettled a little, Rochelle continued to move through the masses to the snack bar.

"What do you mean Lilith?"

Nathan asked, his playful smile still playing on his lips

Rochelle was gone before Sven could say anything, so he decided to have a seat on a nearby bench next to what appeared to be a dwarf. Sven could smell alcohol on his breath (at least, what he assumed was alcohol) as he spoke. "What brings you here?"

"Just waiting on a friend," Sven responded. "Yourself?"

"The same. Then I'm heading back up to my room. The music here's pretty much crap."

"Tell me about it. The thought had entered my head once or twice, as well. Name's Sven by the way."

"Most people call me Jim," The dwarf replied as he and Sven shook hands.

He didn't know? He couldn't even guess what she might be hinting at? From the look on his face, he was oblivious to what she was saying. He just kept on smiling, like he always did. No glimmer of love, affection, or even blind lust present. His eyes were similarly unmoving.

She pulled away slightly and her tail unwound, letting her free from the dance. "Why can't you just be simple Nath?" She looked down. "When you came to my room I thought... that you might..."

She looked up at him again, her face red. "You don't even like me, do you? I'm just being... stupid and..."

Nathan watched as Lilith started talking again, waiting for the right moment

"You don't even like me, do you?"

She was saying

"I'm just being... stupid and..."

Finally! The pause he had been waiting for. With one quick movment, he slid his arm around her waist, pulled her forward and kissed her

By the time Rochelle made it through the masses to the snack bar, almost everything had gone. She reached for a plate, but a hand out of nowhere took the last item and the plate vanished, fading to nothing along with all the others. All that was left was the blood fountain, and Rochelle had no desire whatsoever to take a glass and dip it into the warm crimson liquid.

The crowd began to dissipate immediately; the only people who remained were the group of vampires nearby. Disappointed, Rochelle quickly looked around, spotted Sven talking with what she assumed to be a dwarf, and she hurried to rejoin him. "I didn't get anything, Sven," she called over as she walked. "Turns out I was too slow."

"Eh, don't worry about it too much," Sven said nonchalantly. "Well, gotta go. See ya, Jim."

"All right then. I better get going, too: knowing Ed, he's probably gotten lost again." With that, the dwarf slid off the bench and walked towards the snack bar.

Ed? Why am I not surprised those two are friends? Sven thought as he gave himself a barely-noticeable smirk. "Well, I'm about ready to get back to the room, unless you've got anything else you want to do."

"I'm good with heading back. Nathan and Lillith seem to have gone off somewhere. Best not to worry about them," Rochelle said. This is too good a chance to miss, she thought to herself. We'll be alone in our room, Sven doesn't look like he needs sleep any time soon... perfect.

"Shall we go, then?" she asked, and in a snap decision, performed a little movement with one hand, as if she wanted Sven to take it. She didn't know how he would react, even though she suspected he knew something about her feelings.

Sven raised an eybrow and paused for a moment as Rochelle seemingly offered her hand. All right, it's obvious she's hitting on me. Do I quash her hopes now and risk her becoming hostile for the rest of the semester, or risk breaking her heart later and getting it even worse? Screw it, nothing ventured... He took the hand that was offered as they made their way back to their room.

Rochelle smiled, feeling a sense of rightness spread through her body as Sven's slightly cool hand pressed against hers. While they walked, she occasionally glanced up at him, examining his facial expressions.

"You all right, Sven?" she asked as they walked into the dorm building. "You seem... preoccupied with something."

"Mein Gott, die schmerzen." Alex said out loud in the room "Hängen Sie daran wo sind ich? Auch warum spreche ich Deutsch?" His vision blurred for a minute. "Oh I hate concussions. You never know what language you will wake up speaking." Alex went to stand up and his legs collapsed under him. He fell back into his chair "Or sitting down. That's always good. How about you? Do you want to come out of the shadows and sit down or do you wish to continue you your rather bad stalking?"

Rumor has it that some of the staff arranged for some pretty interesting games next to the lake. If you are bored with the music, you might want to check these out.

When he pulled away, she... "Wow..." She was almost breathless. But, as weird as it sounded, it was a sort of good breathlessness... It was an amazing and memorable kiss, and now all she could feel was a warm tingling sensation all over. And it was good.

Okay, so she couldn't pretend she wasn't still apprehensive, since she still wasn't sure how far gone they both were into this ride, but she'd leave that be for a while. She had a chance to at least enjoy this for a moment and she wasn't going to ruin it with anymore questions.

"I didn't know you felt that way Nath..." She wrapped her arms around him, pulled herself into an embrace with him and pressed her lips to his. "But... I'm glad you do."

I make imagery and metaphors in my posts and then decide they indicate a bit more love than I'm actually trying to convey, so I blame that for why I'm taking so long to post.

I also blame Space Wolves.

"Nothing you need to worry about." No reason to worry her yet, but I'm probably going to have to say something about the incident at some point. When Sven and Rochelle made their way back to the room, Sven immediately made his way towards the fridge to find something to eat. "You want anything?" he asked as he reached for a package of bologna.

Rochelle crossed to the fridge as well, and looked past Sven at the small, well-stocked shelves. After a few seconds of looking for something she wanted, she said, "Aha," and pulled out a fairly large bunch of grapes from a bowl. "These will be fine," she answered, already picking one off the bunch and popping it in her mouth.

She walked over to her bed and quickly examined it before sitting down; the sheets that had been splashed earlier had been replaced with fresh ones, and her shirt she had worn was clean and folded. She shrugged and rummaged in one of her suitcases for a pen and paper; she wanted to have something to do while the two of them ate.

Sven rummaged through the contents of the fridge and a nearby cupboard until he had everything he needed to make a bologna and cheddar sandwich. After throwing everything together as neatly as he could, he wandered by Rochelle's bed. Sven noticed that the sheets on the bed were dry, despite having water dumped on them no more than an hour ago. At least I don't have to worry about doing laundry. He also noticed Rochelle was writing or drawing something on a notepad. "What'cha doin'?" he asked.

"One moment..." Rochelle said, writing a couple of short lines. She looked up and said, "Just a little thing I do whenever I'm living in a new place for a while." She showed Sven a fairly short passage she had written describing the areas of the school she had seen thus far, accompanied by a few lines of a song:

Without a song or a dance, what are we?
So I say thank you for the music,
For giving it to me.

Rochelle's writing was small, and had many flourishes trailing from the ends of her letters.

Hm, not really one for the poetry, but other than that... "And you say you do this for every place you live?" Sven almost absent-mindedly flipped to the previous page, but caught himself. "Er, pardon me," he said, giving the book back to Rochelle before returning to his sandwich.
