Sven watched as Lillith slithered away towards Nathan, leaving him and Rochelle pretty much to themselves. Crap. No worries, Sven. Just strike up some idle conversation until one of them comes back. "So, Rochelle, where are you from, anyways?"

Just to clarify, I assume this is set in the US. This may have been asked before, but I don't know for sure.

Also to clarify: my perception of angel characters in supernatural RPs is somewhat different to everyone else's. I'm inclined to think that they're just like any other Earthborn supernaural creature, such as a vampire or shapeshifter. By which I mean they're born and raised on Earth, not heaven. Besides, if they were born in heaven, they'd never want to leave. =D

I was assuming this was set in a magical school in a magical realm not Earth at all.

"Yes...yes he was"

Nathan lamented, a bit of a dark tone evident in his voice before he whirled around and held out his hand as the song the band was playing suddenly changed

"My I have this dance, milady?"

He asked in a deep voice, all traces of seriousness evaporating

You are both right, in a way. The school indeed exists in a magical realm beneath the rest of the earth... But the most important(for you) entrance to it is through a lonely road in the US.

Right, thanks for clearing that up.

"Me? Well, I was born in Los Angeles's Hospital for the Supernatural. I spent my pre-teen years growing up in LA, then we moved all the way across the US, to New York because my parents both got job offers. To regular humans, Dad owns a successful accountancy firm, but in reality they run an underground Academy of Magic."

Rochelle moved a little closer to Sven, on the pretext of getting out of the way of a passing Demon. "What about you, Sven?" she asked, looking up at him with a warm smile. She was only about half a head shorter than Sven, but the difference in height was obvious when the two stood together.

"You've never... um, danced with a Lamia before, have you?" She looked down, trying to figure out a half-decent way to do this. If she let her tail trail off behind, it would inevitably be stepped on, either by Nathan or some other party-goer.

Lillith tentatively grasped his hand. Her tail wrapped loosely around his legs and the tip poked him, "You don't mind...? I just wasn't born with dancing in mind."

"Small town in Minnesota. Not really much to say about it, unless one could consider being unofficially named the 'Drinking Capital of Minnesota' something. My dad's the manager of the largest bank in the area, though again that's not saying much." Sven became aware that Rochelle wasn't moving away after the demon passed, but decided not to say anything.

Changing the subject slightly, Rochelle asked, "If I may be curious for a moment, I'd like to learn a little more about you. How did you become a werewolf? Was there some sort of process to it, like a vampire bite? Or was it inherited from your parents?"

She wondered if Sven knew she was trying to convey the message that she was attracted to him. If he didn't get it, then she would have to try another method. Eventually, that method would have to be pulling her courage together, and telling him how she felt. But if he did understand the sign, either it was working and he had no problem with it, or it wasn't and he was just politely ignoring her little advances.

"I honestly don't know what to tell you. I mean, neither of my parents show any signs of lycanthropy whatsoever, but as far as the experts and I know, nothing that usually causes lycanthropy has happened to me, and there was a pretty long list of potential causes. Except maybe witchcraft, but why anyone would turn a random teenager into a werewolf is beyond me."

In reality, Sven was told sometimes people are born with lycanthropy, but the condition stays dormant until sufficiently strong emotions (i.e. pure, unbridled rage) "awakens" the alternate form. He didn't feel like sharing that with Rochelle, however, at least not in public and not on the second day.

Instead, he tried to change the subject slightly. "Here's a question for you, if you don't mind my asking: You mentioned your dad does business with normal humans. How do you hide your wings in public? It seems like that would be very difficult to explain away."

Rochelle smiled at that. "That's simple, really. We all just wore regular human jackets over our wings, and folded them the same way we do when we sleep; flat against our backs, so they don't get in the way." She turned away from Sven, moved her hair over one shoulder and demonstrated, pressing the wings flat against her back; they reached all the way from her shoulders to her waist. It felt a little like she was wearing a skintight dress made of feathers.

"It's a little uncomfortable with a jacket on, but it was necessary," Rochelle said over her shoulder, turning her head to look at Sven.

So, I don't think you ever replied to me about the thing. How do werewolves work in our universe? Do they change shape every night, or only when the moon is full? Or one week of a month? Or one month of a year? Or one year of seven? All have a basis in mythology.

I like the idea of one week a month. Let's go with that.

"I see." That does look uncomfortable, but unless you want to be a shut-in all your life... "So, you having fun?"

Very interesting. Won't it effect your ability to be at school, though? That is the reason I thought 1-3 nights a month would be best: won't cause to great a disruption to your "human" life.
However, your idea too is very interesting. Go with which one you like.

Nathan laughed

"I doubt I was born with dancing in mind and I have two feet"

As they moved together, Nathan looked up at the sky. The stars glowed brightly in the clear night sky and the moon itself seemed a tad larger than usual

"Beautiful night"

She looked up, taking in the view. It was, as Nathan said, beautiful. A cloudless infinity, tiny lights staring down towards them through millions of miles of empty blackness and the luminous moon that watched over their dance. She couldn't help but romanticise the entire thing.

Something up there stirred her soul and, as if it had just answered a question in her heart of hearts, she knew she had to tell him now. She liked him. She'd been able to admit it to herself, and to Sven and Rochelle, but not to Nathan. And she grew closer to thinking that he liked her as well. Why else would he do this? The holding hands, the dancing, the closeness? It was far more than she could overlook as "We're here as friends." If any time was the correct time to tell him, it was now.

"Nathan...?"

Rochelle turned back to face Sven, stretched her wings out and settled them back into place. "It's all right, but not fantastic," she answered. "I'm not really one for larger parties such as this. Smaller ones, where I know everyone, are more my thing."

"I know what you mean. It's like, you're surrounded by people, but at the same time, you feel so alone. Or at least, that's how it is for me." Sven's stomach rumbled again. Oh, yeah, I didn't get anything from the snack bar last time. "You wanna get something to eat?"

"Sure, why not. I haven't eaten in a while... not since breakfast, I think," Rochelle said, suddenly realizing how hungry she was. The drinking and subsequent throwing up had killed her appetite around lunchtime, and her hangover had almost vanished; it still ached a little. Or maybe that was just the loud music from earlier.

"You know where we can find something?" she asked, unsure of where tables would be placed; she could hardly see through the crowds.

"Yes Lilith?"

Nathan asked with a smile

"Is my dancing a bit off? I've never been too good at it..."
