Chaz stood up and got himself into the conversation. "What, you mean like a light switch tied to a string? I've always wanted to make a trap like that."

welcome back!

Catalina laughed a little, she had a much better plan in mind, "No, since I can summon light at will, plus some infrared stuff, I could sit in the "dark" and wait for it to approach before bathing it in light and killing it."

"But my plan is so comedic! Not effective, but if it actually works it'll be the best story ever! Ok, how about this. I can set up my trap, and you can be prepared for your trap. When mine fails, and it will fail, then you go ahead and do your thing, kay?"

Catalina raised an eyebrow at Chaz, a little miffed at his suggestion, "This isn't time for joking, this thing almost killed Kohana, it's not safe to be doing anything silly like that."

Chaz pouted. "Well how is it going to hinder anything? Unless you trip over it, but if we go Schooby Doo style it will all work itself out in the end! Hmpf. The thing is dangerous, though... Fine, you can go ahead and set up your trap."

Catalina smiled and nodded in thanks, "Okay, also, I need the two of you nearby, in the light of course, in case anything goes wrong."

Jeffery continued examining the monsters arm, a intense sense of dread in him as he soon realized what it was.

crap, how did it even get on this ship, I mean I thought they only existed in the underworld, oh man this is not good" Jeffery thought he continued examining the arm before being interrupted by the witch and incubus discussing something about a trap.

"would`nt work, you would`nt have a chance of seeing the monster before it managed to rip you into pieces and besides light does`nt kill it, only restricts it`s movement, but your power could be useful, I think I know what we`re dealing with, it`s a shadow demon these things are bad news usually not found outside of the outer edges of the underworld...don`t ask me how I know that, I have no idea how it got onto the ship, or what it`s doing out of the underworld but the only way to get rid of it is to send it back to whatever pit it crawled out of, now I might have a curse to do that but I`m gonna need to corner it, that`s where you come in if you can manage to surround it with light it will have nowhere to run and I can get rid of it" Jeffery explained rising from his seat and placing both of his hands on the table his tone clear and concise each word coming out with a surprising amount of calmness.

Chaz nodded his head. "Course. Say, any particular reason why the students are doing this and not the staff here? They have healers, so they must have at least one person around who can protect us."

Had something else I wanted to add, but I believe I've filled my silliness quota for the day.

"What if this is a test!?"

Catalina nodded, makes sense, besides, now we know how to get ride of it, "I volunteer for monster bait."

"yeah I`d love to let you wander into the darkness and have you torn into bite-sized pieces, but I need you to follow behind the monster and put up a wall of light where ever it goes I`l move in front of it and do the same with my fire, but we still need some bait but only one of us can do that without this plan falling apart and a place to trap it, any ideas on that front?" Jeffery asked, his breathing accelerating slightly as the adrenaline started surging through him again.

"I'm guessing I'm the bait, then. So how about we lead it into the theater? There's only one entrance so that'll get it cornered."

When Kohana regained her senses, she could feel someone cleaning out her face with cold water. She tried to immediate raise herself to an upright position, but was instantly send back, by the pain that hit her numb body like a wall. The Medic and his assistant started talking to her, in their fast, hard language. It took Kohana considerable concentration, to force herself to remember the correct words to use.

"My bag. The upper right slot. Give me what's in there." Despite her voice being weakened and shaky, she finally managed to make herself understood, and the Medic's assistant hurried off, only to return moments later, with two small boxes. One of which contained a number off small, wet cushions, two of which she pressed against her open eyes, gasping sharply for air, as the familiar, ice-cold sting added to the concert of pain inside her head. After securing the two cushions with her blindfold, it took Kohana five attempts to go through the correct procedure of handsigns to release the healing process, her fingers still stiff, and the painful distraction plentifully available.
Only after going through the procedure a sixth, succesful time, she could finally grab into the other box, chewing down a handful of the leaves that were contained inside. The poison worked almost instantly, neurotoxins overflowing her body, temporarily numbing most of the nerves in her head, capable of transmitting pain.

She remained like this a few seconds, relaxing mind and body alike, before finally standing up, walking in the direction where she could hear jeffrey speaking to a crewmember, her movement stiff, now using her flute as a blindstick to anticipate obstacles.

"How... how long have I been...?"

all the while, somewhere on the ship, the beasts roaring continued.

Catalina's ears perked up, "That roaring will makenthis easier..."

She then noticed Kohana and relief spread through her body, she ran over to Kohana,

Kohana struggled to so much as keep standing, but a comfortable numbness had cleared away all those thoughts about the state her body might be in.

What if the board-security has been eaten (or they wanted to save money on that end, and included an underfed watchdog instead (if you see where this is going)

Jeffery looked over to incubus addressing specifically him "yep, don`t you feel glad you decided to come to this school" Jeffery said chuckling slightly.

"and the theater would`nt work, the one entrance thing would only make it harder for us, the thing can move through walls, it`s was able to seamlessly move into the arcade and near kill me without even having to open the door, so it would be best we get it an open area where we can surround it" Jeffery explained trying to think of somewhere himself.

"Well excuse me for not reading a book on deomonology, guy! Shouldn't we tell the staff about this thing, though? You said it shouldn't be here."

"yeah we should actually, but I doubt any of the staff on this ship are prepared to handle something like this, I mean we only have a chance because I just so happened to have a spell to get rid of it and because we have a witch who can conjure light on the ship, if it were`nt for those things we`d be completely screwed" Jeffery said trying to remain logical.

"but I think we have an idea of where to corner it....right here, it`s open we already have some kind of base set up here and the necessary supplies for keeping it in place are right over the counter, so who votes we use here?" Jeffery asked this time addressing everyone.

"Is it really a matter of where? Any open area would be sufficient enough to off the thing, and I want to get risking my life out of the way." Chaz walked over and sat in a chair close to his bag. "So the damsel in distress lures the evil monster into the open area where the heros kill it? Sounds pretty damn close to a stereotypical videogame."

Kohana led out an angry noise of frustration. Followed by a hasty stream of words;

"I'm sorry everyone, I fear I will be of little use. The one shot I had seems to have only made it angry, and I... I wouldn't stand the pain, if I used my eyes again, any time soon..."

"yeah it does actually, the graphics are`nt half bad either and the trap system is pretty well done, but I hope to god the escort quests are`nt full with crappy A.I" Jeffery said grabbing his spellbook and jumping over the counter of the bar, re-emerging with two bags full of salt, he started spreading it around the edges of the dining area bordering the entire room save for the opening leading into the corridor.

"alright I set up the trap, anybody got the details of this plan figured out or shall we just wing it?" jeffery asked sitting back down looking through his book for the page concerning the incantation.

"you know I really got to put a table of contents on this thing"
