A lot of people are going to be angry at this, I imagine. I don't care, I fucking love games with telekinesis and the dubstep gun kinda sounds like the groovitron from Ratchet and Clank, ie. the best gun EVER.

I do wish it were disco instead of dubstep though, but hey, personal taste.

Unlike some, I loved the utter ridiculousness of Saint's Row 3. Add superpowers and, hopefully, just a bit more polish and I am fuckin' sold.

I just went from meh to holy rainbow puking cows this sounds awesome. Being wacky should be more like this and less "funny" innuendo.

This game sounds like it will be a mature, narrative-driven game of the struggles of mid-class America...

Nah :p

I'm rather looking forward to this, and what's more I think it is great to know that there publishers out there who can count pass 3, instead of thinking numbers start again from the beginning

While I'm not a fan of dubstep, this sounds great.

Believe it or not, every once in a while I like coming across a game that doesn't take itself seriously. The wacky bits in SR3 were my favorite part of that game, and it looks like Volition is going all-in this time around.

Cool. One more reason for me not to get this game.

As if the third game didn't muck up things already.

The main problem I'm having with Saints Row 4 is that it feels so half assed. It's the same graphical style, same mechanics, same setting, same everything pretty much but with a dubstep gun and aliens! RAWR!

The fact that it started out as DLC for Saints Row The Third really shows, and I wasn't a massive fan of Steelport anyway as it was too small and felt barren. Seriously, it was like walking around a ghost town a lot of the time.

I like the idea of a sandbox game where the whole point is to be stupid and cause chaos, but either go big or go home. This is a lazy cashgrab, and it's not a game I'm willing to pay full price for by any means.

Meh.

Still favor SR2 out of the bunch. A nice harken back to the zaniness that created the genre, with some of the more powerful emotional scenes I've seen in modern games. Rather bizarre when I think about it.

SR3 improved the gameplay quite a bit, but suffered for story and character. This one seems gearing up to be a further collapse.

Might as well get it out of the way now (because if I don't, someone else will):
Oh gods what was that!

I changed tabs and got a eyefull of robot buttsex!

That was a amazingly funny thing I didn't need to see.

GUYS I HAVE SOMETHING I NEED TO SAY
I ACTUALLY LIKED SAINTS ROW 3
OT: Buying. Just buying. Seriously, I saw the trailer and lost my shit. I have a feeling I'll be enjoying this as much as I enjoyed the Second and Third ones.

Yeah, I am fairly excited about Saints Row 4. Yes, Saints Row 3 isn't Saint's Row 2 (which was a great game), but it was a good game in its own way (apart from Shaunti). I'm quite hopeful that Saints Row 4 will finally and completely steal Yahtzee's idea about a supervillain sandbox game. ^^

Dubstep Gun? What, you mean this?

At any rate, I'm not sure I like this new "whacky" direction Saint's Row has taken since 3. I kinda prefer it when the series was a little more grounded. Most of these new features seem kinda forced IMO, gameplay improvements nonwithstanding.

Pretty much.

I don't get people complaining that it's "too silly, needs more serious". We've already GOT a GTA. Between GTA, later Saints Row and Just Cause, we finally have the entire range of third-person shooter sandbox more or less covered.

EDIT: I accidentally my brain.

That's OK, you can still go for GTA V.

I and many others, however, am glad that at least one sandbox franchise is willing to put its pants on its head.

I don't really mind dubstep but I'm getting a bit tired of games using it to show how in touch with the kids they are (Borderlands 2's 'wub wub wub' ads were pretty funny, though).

I would also argue that the Groovitron is the second best weapon ever, next to whatever model of the RYNO we were up to in Tools of Destruction that started playing Ode to Joy when you pulled the trigger.
