Take notes of this, Padawan. The more you know, the better your odds at survival!
yessum!! i will add this to my list of RE survival tips.
1. If the body on the ground has not melted, or rotted away. Shoot it from a distance.
2. If the music builds up for some reason be prepared.
3. If you find a key, it usually unlocks a door you passed in the beginning of the level.
4. That unlocked door usually holds something nasty behind it.
5. Beware of dog.
i like the puppups! they're cute. :D

Is RE3 worth finishing? because i remember 2 was pretty slow, and clunky, and really short.
Eh... I'd say half and half. The final fight is about the same as RE2.

Warning:
Giant mutated boss, super powerful weapon, etc.
You ruined my experience of the game... I already killed nemesis once, but now I have no reason to play it anymore... Thanks!
Also... the final boss in RE2 was a cinch, and wasn't super powerful. So, the verdict, should i read the story on wikipedia.org (if there is one) and move onto the super cool, original Resident evil 4 on pc?

The scariest game Ive ever played was condemned: criminal origins. At the begining it didnt seem too scary but once you started getting your way towards the end it got much creepier with a sort of wierd ending.
Couldn't agree more, the department store level when the mannequins started teleporting towards you and duplicating, I was dying.

If you want, go for it.

Doom 3, but only because it's the only real scary game I've played.

Not so much the monsters, but everything inbetween the encounters. The laughs, and the tapes you find of some poor twat getting ripped in two while hiding in a vent.

Playing FEAR with your headphones on can be a really frightnening experience. (although it's not that scary when you play it without the headphones)

that's not saying much, the half-life series is kind of creepy with headphones too. I reckon with headphones even reader-rabbit teaches typing would be creepy.

wow. now that is some serious old school love being brought; I was thinking about Bad Mojo and Sanitarium in addition to that Cyberdreams adaptation of the HE story, as well.

Honestly tho, graphics do play a role, so I'll have to go with something a little more modern: Silent Hill 2 wins for me, for its unforgettable fusion of terror and sadness/despair. System Shock 2 is a close runner-up, however.

Aliens TC for Doom. 5% health, 12 rounds, no idea where the exit is, and hearing the distinctive hiss of a hunter? pants wetting @ 3am when you're strung out on caffiene and sugar.

Well, I used to think Oblivion was scary, all those rank dungeon settings. Obviously I'm over that now, and am happy to fry them with a touch spell.
The Path is scary, because it takes control away from you.
I also almost freeze up with fear playing Legend of Zelda OoT beta quest worlds. But that's probably more me, than them actually being scary.

I gotta say that "back in the day" with Resident Evil, and later with "RE:Nemesis" I got pretty scared. God damn that Nemesis-figure actually scared the shit out of me when I was younger.
Thank you for this comment. I was starting to feel really old seeing all these new titles. My vote for scariest games goes to the original Alone In The Dark trilogy (1992-1994). It basically created the survival horror genre that would spawn the excellent Resident Evil in 1996.
