If you came in here expecting agreement and backpatting prepare to be sorely disappointed.

If you are of the troll species I am sorry for wasting your time. *bow*

I was someone who can honestly say, school was a waste of time for, but even that is not true, even my mindless copying of notes and reciting useful facts, I found some focus to hone my talents at drawing things, simply by making the wonderful effort of focusing on it instead of the bullshit going on around me.

I wasn't a very sociable person.

And I had a fairly good plan for life that I'm still working through.

School was just the time it took for me to sit and think. Learning, socializing? All that crap? Didn't do shit for me.

Find ways to utilize your time effectively when things seem pointless.
Please, how pathetic do you think I am? I don't need any sympathy. I just wanted to see if anyone else found the system by which school adheres by is flawed.
What is wrong with just saying that then?

Edit: And my reading your other replies. No wonder, cocky little guy aren't you.
Maybe they don't feel you're worth their effort either. Train travels both ways.

Your only in grade 2 and your thinking of ditching school? Geez..

I kid..

But seriously, school is great. You learn how to learn, it teaches you valuable life skills and you learn how how interact with other people. Ever wonder why homeschool kids are a little weird?

And like @Kimarous said: Learn your arse some respect!

..I may of paraphrased a bit, but that's what I feel the overall message is.
I meant to say that it is my second year of high school.
And the people who attend my school are unworthy of my respect in my opinion.
And where, pray tell, do you get the impression that they need to be worthy of YOUR respect, oh ye Random Second-Year Student?

@Nostalgia Ripoff: I am aware of this.
@Charli: Nothing.
@Kimarous: The fact that they have an odd habit of being rude and obnoxious.

School is by no means a waste of time. Suffering builds character. And sometimes you learn shit, too.

Wise words? Maybe, maybe not. That philosophy got me through high school, and is still getting me through uni. Look beyond the bullshit and take comfort in what you do enjoy. Even if you don't enjoy anything, take comfort in the stuff that at least isn't bullshit. Its gonna sound cheesy, but the small things will help get you through. They got me through the hard times. At one point, I was so overwhelmed by the people, the work, the expectations, all of it. The highlights of my day for that period of time were things like the bowl of cereal before me in the morning and walking home in the afternoon.

There will always be bullshit that'll get you down, no matter what you do. Its a fact of life. School can be one of those times. (well, in my experience :p)

If anyone else thinks the School system is flawed? I don't think anyone will argue with you there.

All the same, finish High school so you have a piece of paper that says you do. After all, you aren't doing this for fun, you're doing this to become a productive member of society.

All the kids like this back in high school are a bunch of whacked out nutters giving handjobs for hotdog money in back alleys.

School isn't about what you know, its about learning. Find something you dont already know and try to focus around that, i mean if you already know all the stuff you are currently learning you should have no problem doing even more work should you? And if you already know everything, then please go ahead and leave, i'm sure you'll find lots of interesting things you dont know in the workforce. Might i suggest working in an abattoir or in a warehouse.

As for me, yes and no. No because i had many good friends and fantastic teachers. No because i was unable to take many of the classes i wanted to take (it was a small school, i only had 35 people in my year level, so the school had to pick the classes by what was most desired and i was the minority against all the science people). At the same time i got to see the teachers in drag in my last week of school, so it was all worth it.

Tl;dr most of this thread. If you are actually smart you will know highschool is easy as hell and you at the very least need the piece of paper at the end of it. Ditching it is a dumb person's sort of idea.

Yes the school system isn't designed to make kids smarter. Its just to prove you have the capacity to learn things, not to have you learn anything especially useful, as well as make you used to doing what you are told. But its the best we have at the moment.

The social aspect of school is just as if not more important. Even if you don't want to deal with any highschool drama, you don't need to be whiny about it. Just don't take nonsense seriously, and be civil with people. You will learn the most important thing you can; how to deal with bullshit.

Chance are, unless you are incredibly lucky, you will have to deal with a LOT of bullshit in life. Building up a tolerance to it is key to working with people. There will always be stupid and annoying people, and sooner or later you will have to deal with them.

I was in the same position as you, before I went to university. Most stuff at school bored me, because it was too easy. I got off one of the ten best students of my year, without doing anything for it. Ditching was never an option because I knew that getting that funny piece of paper, saying that I'm smart (your degree), was required to study, gain easy access to advanced knowlege and teachings.

So I just tried to use class time productively. I used to read books, or just work on my own about stuff I knew was interessting to me. While school itself didn't teach me that much, it gave me clearly marked time on my daily scedule for education purpose.

Oh, and btw: Anywhere you will ever be, there will be annoying people. The trick is to not bother with them, but do your own, productive thing. You will be lying around, doing nothing soon enough. After your death that is.

Seriously, I'm way smarter than any of these losers at my school and all the work does is just piss me off because it tends to be tedious or involves me being sociable, the teachers need to learn when to shut up and leave me alone, It's only my second year and I'm already feeling like ditching this hole.
How about any of you guys? Any of you think your school is just a huge waste of time too?
To learn list:
Modesty/humility
Respect
Patience
Social skills
Commitment

But of course you won't learn any of that at school. Not because school doesn't teach it, but because you're ignorant enough to think you know everything and egotistical enough to think you're better than others with no room for improvement.

All the work tends to be:

Boss needs to learn when to shut up and leave me alone
It's only my second year and I'm already feeling like ditching this hole.
Good luck getting and holding onto a job, even if you do finish school.

So what's the difference between you and them?
I'm in no mood for your antagonism but I'm feeling generous so I'll answer your question.
Yes, I have a tendency to be rude and I may seem obnoxious to others such as yourself, this however is facade I take while being at school due to negative things that have taken place in my past that has caused me to become unsociable, apathetic, and irritable. These however are not my true feelings they are simply a result of the pain that I keep bottle up within my psyche. I hope that answers your question.

Some of the stuff taught at school I don't think is very useful to myself, but I'd say sticking with school is a good idea. And if you don't like anyone there? oh well, try and find people you like. Or move school. And besides, in Year 9 (at least in australia) you get to choose some of your own subjects, so, yeah.

If the work isn't challenging you mentally, get up to a level where it does. School is a place to be challenged and learn new things. If you're coasting through your classes, you're doing it wrong IMO.

People have a hard time finding jobs with a college-level education, good luck getting into the workforce without a high-school diploma and a cocky attitude like that.

I think you are arrogant and don't know the benefit of a proper education. If you feel the need to refer to others as "losers", then you are clearly too immature to head out into the world on your own. It will eat you alive.
Yep. What this person said. You're going to have a miserable time unless you change your attitude, and you'll most likely deserve it.

You sound like you need the education even more now...

But seriously, quit being a whiny shit and deal with it. Claiming that you're smarter than the rest of your class and complaining about it on the internet won't get you a job.

You sound like every single kid in high school. "I'm so much smarter than everyone!"

With such arrogance, you'll be lucky to find a job anywhere.

Many aspects of formal education are imperfect. All humans are imperfect. There's nothing you can do about either of those. However, school has value for almost anyone. For some, that value may be learning how to write analytically, differentiate functions, or predict future human development. For you, part of that value may be learning how to tolerate idiots for a chunk of the day. I would also recommend taking the hardest classes you can; if you're being challenged, you will find it more interesting, and if it's higher-level material, you will actually learn something. This all makes you more intelligent and more likely to get into a good college/job.

TL;DR Tweak your attitude a bit and you'll find a lot of value in school.
