Considering that I want to be a teacher, I'd say it isn't a waste of time. I enjoy learning and teaching so school is alright with me.

You guys don't actually read anything but my first post do you?
There's more to my character than acting like I'm better than everyone else and hating school.
I'm like any other person out there. I have my flaws and imperfections, I am by no means better than everyone else. I'm actually a pretty nice guy once you get to know me, I'm just pretty distant at first because of the pain I've been inflicted upon in past years of living.

Read my above post on page 1 please.
I'm unaware of which one you're referencing specifically, but I've read all of page one, so either way. If it's your post about why you've got such a cocky attitude towards strangers you "don't think are worthy of your respect" just because you find them rude, after you said that you're rude and cocky as well because of the same environment you both grew up in, [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.236196.8413613] I find that pretty hypocritical to be honest. If that's not it, feel free to tell me the post number, but I'd still say my point still stands.

@Kimarous: The fact that they have an odd habit of being rude and obnoxious.
So what's the difference between you and them?
I'm in no mood for your antagonism but I'm feeling generous so I'll answer your question.
Yes, I have a tendency to be rude and I may seem obnoxious to others such as yourself, this however is facade I take while being at school due to negative things that have taken place in my past that has caused me to become unsociable, apathetic, and irritable. These however are not my true feelings they are simply a result of the pain that I keep bottle up within my psyche. I hope that answers your question.
Not only do I think school was fun (in it's own ways) but I also think you need to get an ego check.

"Unworthy of your respect"? Are you a king or something? Acting with a "more holier than thou" attitude won't get very far in life, you'll just piss people off. You can't just breeze by people and immediately assume they aren't worth your time. If you don't like someone fine, nobody loves everyone on the planet Earth, but you can't just say they aren't worthy of respect.

I understand where your coming from but you need to approach this stuff with a better attitude.

We all come with baggage, but it's how we handle it that makes us who we are.

Sure fucking thing it is. After all, learning isn't compulsory. Neither is survival.

And beginning with 'seriously, I'm way smarter than any of these losers at my school' means you're probably an arrogant fucker who deserves to be a social reject because he is fucking intolerable.
Look in the fucking mirror. That tomato is you.

At least you're not forced into mediocrity because you made your classmates feel bad about their lesser intellect.

No offense but unless you were stabbed every single day of primary and called a worthless waste of felsh by each of your teachers then that's hardly an excuse to be that way. And even then I know of people in real life who've grown up from origins of losing parents, having alcoholic dead beat parents and economic turmoils into kind, well-educated and grateful members of society.

So you think you know everything in year 8 eh? Very well then:

Even then that ain't gonna get you much further than the midnight shift at a KFC, school teaches you how to follow instructions, be sociable, commit to hard work and take pride in and celebrate the successes of yourself and others.

But in response to the original question I don't see school as a huge waste of time, I actually quite enjoy it!

I mean come on, it can be pretty fun in high school. I mean where else can you dissect a cow's eye, play lacrosse, read great novels and make films all in one day amongst other people your age?

I felt the same way when I was in school. The routine of it all just crushed my soul, but it helped me realize that I will never fit in with society. Not its rules, not its people, not it's jobs, nothing. It's just one long exercise in submission and conformity. Get used to it, half the people you will ever answer to will be stupid and under qualified for the jobs they get paid to do.

I am quite aware of this.

The point being made is that you have earned the rejection of your peers due to your antisocial behaviour.
I'm aware you've been using past experiences to excuse your current attitude, but to be honest it doesn't really cut it. That's the equivalent of getting back at people who said you wouldn't succeed in life by becoming a dole bludger (reliant on unemployment benefit payments from the government).

Seriously, I'm way smarter than any of these losers at my school and all the work does is just piss me off because it tends to be tedious or involves me being sociable, the teachers need to learn when to shut up and leave me alone, It's only my second year and I'm already feeling like ditching this hole.

Yes the school system isn't perfect, and yes at times it may seem like a waste of time. But the thing is, with the job climate the way it is, with employers basically able to make their demands in damn near every field, it's a waste of time you'll have to deal with.

If you're -that- smart, do some extra studying on the side. Because, if you're -that- smart, you'll have no trouble getting ahead even more.

That, or you could drop out and be a failure.

Besides, education is awesome. Being sociable is awesome, too.

Make an appointment with your counselor and look into your school's independent study program. You're welcome.

OK, if you are indeed being arrogant and antagonistic because of some psychological issues that you have, and you recognise this, then you should go and seek help. If you can get past these issues, it will (according to you) presumably make you a calmer, more pleasant person, which will make people at school (and in life in general) respond better to you. If you complain about these issues, but don't seek to remedy them, then you cannot use them as an excuse.

Many of us found school a bit slow at times, but I have two things to say to this:

1) 'Im smarter than everyone, they're all idiots': OK, well then it's the Spiderman phenomenon, only this time it's paraphrased to 'with great intelligence comes great responsibility'. If you're so smart and find school so easy, then you should help those who are struggling, not insult them. You are lucky that you find learning so easy. Have sympathy for those who do not - their school experience is just as bad as yours, only in a different way, and your arrogance only makes it worse.

2) 'School is so easy and such a waste of time': OK then, if you're so smart, ace every class, get a fistful of lucrative national scholarships, leave school early and ace university by the age of 20. There - you now have something to do instead of complain.
