My brother did and never looked back. I'm thinking of doing the same with my Wii. I never play the bloody thing anymore. I've exhausted SSBB and I don't feel like carrying around a £150 paperweight to bring out once every Christmas to flail around for half an hour before we collapse from booze and full bellies.

After owning a Wii for almost a year, I ended up buying a PS3. For me, it was the best decision I've ever made. Metal Gear Solid 4, Call of Duty 4, and Bioshock will give you the most fun you'll ever have on a console. Other great games include Uncharted, Call of Duty: World at War, Infamous, and Resistance 2.

I do not recommend Killzone 2 or Prototype. I bought both of them and haven't really enjoyed either.

Upcoming must-haves for me are Modern Warfare 2, Uncharted 2, and Bioshock 2.

Feel free to add me on PSN as InfernoJebus, if you do make the switch.

Definitely get rid mate, I've had a WII, 360 and PS3 and I can honestly say I spend more time on my PS3 than any other, I managed to sell my WII near Christmas time and got almost the same price as I paid for it as well :D

Sell your Wii if you really don't like it. Get a good computer. You can play almost any game on the 360 and PS3 and it will look better. plus you get to play games that can't be played on consoles like RTS games.

No. Sell your Wii get a 360.
Better games, better hardware, far cheaper. If you feel you must get a ps3 then at least wait a few months. What with it being open knowledge they have cut their manufacturing costs by 70% they really have no excuse to keep the PS3 price soo fucking high. At least wait till christmas before you get one.

Just make sure you get a model that's backwards compatable...In case you want to play PS2 games...Or even PSone games if you're retro
PSX games are backwards-compatible on every PS3 model available.
OT The Wii defiantly isn't getting as constant stream of good games as the PS3, but I wouldn't go as far asto sell it; get a PS3 by all means, in fact I heartily recommend you get one, but keep your Wii, just in case you regrett it.

Like most say, just sell it if you aren't having fun with it. But for god's sakes don't buy consoles when there aren't enough games you want on it! I waited two years to buy a Wii and was happy as a serial killer in an old folks home since I got it.

I've waited even longer for a PS3, something I'm not even getting until next year Q3-4 (there are enough games coming out on the Wii and PC right now).

Wait until the price cut. That is all.

If the rumors are true all PS3s could be getting backwards compatibility through a firmware update at some point. Also, all PS3s can play PS1 games.

I say go for it, the PS3 has some great game on it. I don't think you will be disappointed. Be sure to get one of the big models, you will want that hdd space! Or just buy another hdd, but maybe not a ssd ;)
Its impossible the new PS3's had the emotion engine chip removed, so it's a hardware and a firmware issue. The slim ps3 rumours also state they may reintroduce the technology.

I've often considered selling my Wii in order to buy more 360 games, but I'm not willing to bet that nothing good will ever be released for it again.

Do it, it'll be worth it in the long run, I'm confident you'll quickly rack up the hours and have eventually paid a lot less than you paid for your Wii for the amount of hours you actually get out of it.

...Well, no one else seems to care about discussing this sort of thing with me, so I'll try here.

Basically, I've had almost NO fun with my Wii after beating the few good games on it, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl has gotten boring, and really isn't quite as awesome as I hoped it'd be, and I've lost interest in the constant tedious repeating adventures of Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and so on, so I may convert to a PS3.

Is this a decent move? Also, what are some good games to get to start off with for the PS3? Some personal opinions from fellow gamers on the net would be most appreciated...
Lol trust me. A good decision to convert.

I only keep my wii 'cause my dad likes to play it and I play Brawl with some friends.

Good PS3 games:
Exclusives
Killzone 2
Resistance fall of man/resistance 2
Little big planet
Infamous
Non-exlusive
Prince of persia
Bioshock
COD games (Modern warfare 2 soon!!)

There is loads worth the time on PS3...I only know all this because I follow PS3 reviews more than any other console. Plus I have a friend who lets me play his, knowing my depravation owning a wii.

Still think the PC is the best console though
