Oh, I kind of assumed the spy's questions needed to be a bit more clear-cut than that. I mean, if you ask him "Is the killer rather quiet?" that's completely within the judgment of the GM. But maybe I'm misinterpreting the rules, and that's absolutely fine.
I don't think the Spy could ask overtly if the Killer was rather quiet BUT they could use their post count as a proxy. Or even better their average posts per year. Simply divide the number of post one has with the number of years they've been on the Escapist and you have a pretty damn good approximation of how "quiet" someone is.

If we want to test Armadox's theory this is how I'd suggest doing it. Might be too little too late if the Spy's already asked his first question though.

Dead guy has read my message, but I don't know for how long.

To be fair, it's hard to write a death post for a SK round you've only been part of for a brief amount of time. Part of the reason my death post for last round was a dolan comic style summation of events is because I didn't feel I'd done enough to warrant a serious sendoff.

I know! These past few games, I keep popping up on the suspect list.

I mean, it's the name of the game, we're all suspects, but I do wonder what the Spy asks that makes me keep appearing on the suspect list. Like I said, not taking it badly. I find it amusing, actually.

Ah man, I turn my back to observe a Perfect Amethyst for five seconds and turn around to find that somebody has died.

So, that puts us in Sri Lanka, Brazil, Uruguay, Russia, Mexico, Zimbabwe ? Rhodesia, Zambia, or Arizona.. And since Brazil is having issues and Siberia is a death trap. Uruguay doesn't want visitors, and Sri Lanka's caves are corporately owned. We're either in Russia, Mexico, or Arizona (as you wouldn't catch me in Africa).

Wait, amethysts AND soda straw stalactites? Well now, that puts us in the cavern systems outside of Tucson, Arizona. So the killer is.. none of us.. actually lives in.. Arizona. Humm.. Why the hell am I here? I have caves where I live.

"No no, go vacation something low key. Here, we got a nice deal on cavern tours. Oh you'll love it." I want my damn money back, Kartchner Caverns Tour! I want out of Benson! I want to live long enough to fire my agent!

Wow. That's really mean.

And I was reading "sneakadid", that would have made a fine killer.

Wow, the Killer is kind of messed up for killing a kitten . .. . the first victim, is a kitten guys. Heartless dude.

I find it interesting to note- Snekadid's only friend is FPLOON. This does NOT imply FPLOON is the Killer, but perhaps the Killer wanted to get through our beloved friend by killing his pet kitten. Which makes our Murderer all the more f***ed up kinda guy.
Okay I laughed at the kitten killing... I'm a horrible person :-(

@Everyone: Imma accuse this sucka! Recently I got a PM from gritch that says he's the Spy, and one later about his question. The second PM tells me he lives in Ohio Michigan according to his tabs at the top, this is important since I'll be giving out times.

@gritch

You're not the Spy!

1. Game Master Headsprouter assigned the roles at approximately June 5 4:31 pm EST. Evidence.

2. Headsprouter mentions that at this time he sent out the other roles at June 5 4:34 pm EST. Evidence.

3. And according to your "screen cap" you were given the role at June 5 5:03 pm EST. Evidence.

Because of point 2, the roles were sent before 4:34 pm.
Why did you get the role PM half an hour after Headsprouter mentioned his blunder in the user group chat?

4. This is the second PM you sent me, at June 7 12:44 pm EST. Evidence.

This list must be a mock up.
Why would Headsprouter give you a suspect list with YOU in it?

One thing I've yet to pin down: Killer or Lawyer? Which one are you?

He probably didn't, and he gave you a list with him added as he'd just make one list and put it up. That being said, Gritch is hella dead, as it's the only way to prove the list now. Good job.

I'm thinking lawyer, honestly.

Wait. I don't quite follow. Headsprouter made the same blunder as DoPo as in he assigned the Killer with everyone else's. I'm telling the truth here so I can only assume who ever was the Spy the first go around was chosen to be the Lawyer. I got assigned the Spy role after the reshuffle. Headsprouter would still have to wait for the Killer to pick his Lawyer before correcting the issue himself. The delay in time was probably as he waited for the Killer's choice then had to confirm the Lawyer's decision. The fact he got the correction out so quickly must've meant the Killer, the Lawyer, and Headsprouter were here at roughly the same time and replied quickly.

On a side note how did you assume I live in Ohio? The Kent State tab I had in the second picture? That's where I got my undergraduate degree. I'm living in Michigan now but it's the same timezone so it doesn't really change the analysis.

@gritch: There was no "reshuffle" of the roles, Headsprouter can confirm that.

Let's say your hypothetical "reshuffle" was true. I'm willing to bet no one who got a role before it will say they got a message saying they no longer had the role afterwards.

I'm still a tad confused. If the person was given the role Spy and the Killer decided to pick them as the Lawyer and he accepted only HIS role would've gotten reshuffled. Headsprouter would've only needed to PM someone else after that to reassign the Spy role. I assume that's when I got the PM. No one would've been told they didn't have their role afterwards. The only person to change roles would be the person who willingly decided to.

I expected to be killed rather soon. I just say let me stay for another round. If I'm killed next round you'll have your answer there. Execute me at the end of round 2 - if I'm the Lawyer then congratz you got me. If I'm the Spy the priest can revive me and I can give you guys my second list with immunity. Don't trust my information until I'm dead but at least let me keep providing it. I even mention that in my original message. And since the cat's out of the bag now I might as well post it here too. Here it was:

Hello everyone. If you're getting this message then congratulations. You're not the Killer this round. Unless you really wanted to be the Killer. Then you have my condolences. This is sort of a bold strategy but I figured I'd give it a try. I'm the Spy this round and I want to release this information to you guys as quickly as possible.

The question was: Is the killer an American, as specified by their user account?

The list the GM sent was:
1. Caramel Frappe
2. gritch
3. snekadid
4. FPLOON
5. Armadox
6. Dying_Jester
7. altnameJag
8. kingofkumquats
9. username sucks
10. RaNDM G
11. erttheking

So I guess the Killer is an American.

I understand this is sort of a bold move but we win by gathering information and confirming that information as quickly as possible.

I could very well alert the Lawyer with this move in which case I'm probably dead next round. If I'm not dead after the beginning of the third round I'd like you to execute me after I send out another message with an updated roster of suspects. If I'm killed prematurely hopefully the priest can revive me and I can at least give you guys two lists.

Depending on who's killed and executed in the proceeding rounds I'll adjust the next question to cut the list in half again. If you have any suggestions for questions I'd love to hear them.

Please keep this information on the down-low. Don't post about it on the forum. Keeping the Killer unaware that we're on to him could really help our cause.

Oh and since it's going to come up here's my proof:

Sorry about the image formating . I'm not use to posting pictures in messages. Here's a link [http://i1349.photobucket.com/albums/p743/gritch1992/scrn_06_06_2015_zpsjdl47ol1.png] to the image itself.

@gritch: You're basing your innocence on a 1 : 19 probability here, buddy.

Even then, give up the Spy role for the Lawyer? C'mon.

@Caramel Frappe: Well, it's a good thing I don't kill anyone off my friends list or else I would be out of a joj... again...
<color=white>Then again, if I was the Killer, my first victim would be gritch for questioning my previous round's Spy persona role...

I dunno about all of this.

Americans are kind of murderous.

I'm inclined to believe Gritch because his avatar makes him look trustworthy.

Odds are, Head gave Gritch the answer in the sense of "Killer is American, here's a list of Americans." Gritch lives in Michigan, which is an American location. I mean, by Aero's logic, Snek wouldn't be on that list either. If he was the killer, then he'd be positively awful at this. No offense adora-dead, but most killers kill other people, and THEN kill themselves. If they even do that at all.

We also have the issue of user alliances. Sadly, nobody loves me, so I'm not in any of them. (Well, confirmed, Caramel Likes me.[footnote]:3 Maybe senpai will notice me, uguuu~<3[/footnote] What is that, 13 based on the PM's I receive?) So, we're down to three possibilities. Aero is the lawyer with his silly made up languages, "Notwithstanding!" Aero is in an alliance that has heat on his colleagues. Dirty Americans indeed! Or Aero is "Misguided Sympathies."

Know who else has Misguided Sympathies? EXALT! OFF WITH HIS HEAD! HE'S WITH THE KILLER AND THE ALIENS![footnote]I've been playing far too fuckin' much XCOM. I'm sorry guys.[/footnote]

I agree those odd speak against me but what can I do? I'm innocent and this is the information I currently have available to me. I can only draw one conclusion.

It's a weak alibi I admit so if we've got to execute me to prove my innocence I guess that's that. As long as the priest hangs around I could still give you guys a second list which will work out fine I suppose.

@Beer: That was the list gritch gave. Why would he be on the list when supposedly he's the Spy? And you said it yourself, why would snekadid be on the list if he was just murdered? It's obvious the list he gave was pre-made. Think logically.

@Caramel: You're going to execute me if he turns out to be innocent? THAT STILL MEANS HE LIED ABOUT BEING THE SPY AND MISLEAD PEOPLE WITH A FAKE LIST. I deserve to die because I got rid of someone who was helping the Killer?
