I suppose (as much as I regret saying it)Final Fantasy could be put to rest. Sure, there was a time back before Final Fantasy 7 where new consoles meant a world of new possibilities, and so with each installment (FF1 through 6) the games could grow technologically while maintaining the decent storyline aspects.
Personally, I loved Final Fantasy 6 on the Super Nintendo, and 7 was alright if you take it in its original form (without all the tacked on accessories.) The games after that seemed to take a downward spiral as Sony, Nintendo and X-box began competing for the best graphics. We saw the downfall of storylines as developers spent more and more time trying to make the best looking RPG, and though I didn't 'mind' ten and twelve, they never really lived up to the calibur of roleplaying game experience that I expected. (Twelve was awesome, actually, with the re-emergence of espers from FF6.)
Anyhow, I think there can only be so many 'Final' Fantasies, and I suppose they should have quit while they were ahead. Too late now, might as well cut and run before they run out of creativity altogether, or god forbid, do another Final Fantasy/Disney cross. (But we all know thats coming anyways.)
