It's because in base human emotion and mentality everyone is an immature person.

We only become "Mature" because in the distant past we ended up dead pretty quick if we didn't.
I like this idea

sometimes there kinda funny, but there plainly immature
i dont like them personally, but sometimes there hilarious (although i think "thats what she said" is sometimes funny)
i find them vulgar and insulting; nobody insults my mom like that
Someone can't take a joke. In fact, it's only because some people take them way too seriously that they are funny.

Also, "immature" is the worse criticism of a joke ever, most funny things are 'immature', it's just a name for the ones you don't like.
hell, i was fine with it for the first year, then after people said "your mom said that last night" it began to grate on my nerves
plus, my friend dont just say "your mom" they go into detail with positions and stuff
so its like "your mom said that while stffed *censored*" and stuff

Well if it stops you getting eaten by a very large furry hunrgy thing with very large, possibly furry, teeth then most people do like it.

Most of the time it gets said around here, it's never funny. Only a minor frustration.

Unless it's imaginative. My friend had some very colourful metaphors.

Because it seems to get you out of any situation and distracts them because they either will agree with you and say it's probably right or they'll start an argument about sleeping with their mom which will then end up with the both of you doing a 'Your moms so...' argument.

It's like the 'Thats what she said' thing. It has to be said at the right time and said the right way too otherwise it's just not funny.

Ultimately I think "That's what she said" is always funnier than "Your Mom" jokes, plus nobody can get offended at them.

It depends a lot on how you tell it. For instance, just randomly saying "I did your mom" isn't funny. If, on the other hand, somebody says something that can be taken the wrong way, and you adapt it into the joke, it can be amusing. It's an easy joke to get wrong, however.
Although, after hearing that comment, I realized that that would actually be quite funny if someone simply turned to you and said "I did your mom" because of the complete and utter randomness. But, no, I see your point.

Mr. B(teacher by the way): And i did your mom

He is actually really good at mainly because he is a teacher and you don't except it until he does it.

If nobody can get offended by something it's automatically less funny

I think it depends what kind of offense they take. I have a friend whose mum died when he was young and he gets genuinely upset if someone makes a your mum joke, which is understandable. Though you do get people that have no real reason for taking offense in which case, yeah, it is funny.

Unless you swap "she" with *Insert girl's name here* like my buddies did once.

The fact that someone else behind a computer or on a mic far away from where you live claiming to have fucked your mom, and thinking that such a dumb claim would be taken seriously is comedy gold.
Its nasty, but whenever someone says "I did your mom", I think of how happy the mom would be for having gotten laid by a teenager in her 40's, and how horrible it would be to actually have to be the boy.

YAY you had sex with someone 30 years older than you, who lives in a totally different country and probably several hours away! And you've never met them! And you're not funny! HAHAHA!

I suppose depending on the delivery it COULD be funny, but most of the time people act like upon saying it they are superior or some crap in comparison to me.
Souunds like somebody took a "your mum" response a bit too seriously.

Now really, what's more immature? Saying "your mum" in response to something, or having it said to you and then whining about it on the internet to people who live in a totally different country and probably several hours away. And you've never even met them.

This thread doesn't make you superior to people who make "I did your mum" jokes. I prescribe a whambulance.

'Yo' mamma' jokes can be funny, depending on the situation and delivery (a bad example is when my cousin made said joke to me... it didn't take him long to realise his mistake...) It's also like the 'That's what she said' jokes; only funny if what came before it could be an innuendo.

A good example of a good 'mother' joke is the 'Meet the Spy' video.

Because people are idiots. They're not funny.

Whenever anyone says they had sex with my mom I say something along the lines of, "I didn't know you like having sex with 50 year old obese women." (My mom isn't obese or 50 but plenty of moms probably are). Really, why would people brag about having sex with someone's mom? They're the losers in that situation.

Now, saying you had sex with someone's sister...
