I was watching one of those free downloadable videos on the PSN today called "Pulse" or whatever that talks about all the stuff Sony wants to sell you this month, when a segment came on talking about the new "exciting" items in Home. Apparently there are some new furniture items, and a new Mansion with a Tiger that greets your friends when they visit, a swimming pool, and some other stuff.
What shocked me about this is that I had assume "Home" had imploded into the Netherworld, never to be seen or heard from again every since it's abysmal, epic failure of the highest order.
(For those of you who don't know what Home is, think of a Sony version of Second Life where you create an avatar and walk around in a virtual shopping mall looking at previews for movies and games to buy from Sony, while making microtransactions a la Farmville for stuff for your avatar or your avatar's home with REAL money for useless, functionless items, all the while being harassed by 10 year old ass-clowns wearing Frosty the Snowman heads and pop-locking their ways into your "kill" book.)
I honestly thought Home was dead. Everybody, I mean EVERYBODY I've literally ever encountered that either OWNS a ps3, OWNED a ps3, or knows someone who owns a PS3 took ONE look at Home, spent about 15 minutes laughing at the stupidity of it all, and subsequently kicked it to the farthest depths of their gaming memory to languish forever with the N-gage, Virtual Boy, and those weird "3D" glasses for the Sega master-system.
So does anyone ACTUALLY still use Home? I mean, not just peeks in there from time to time, but actually is an AVID user, utilizing it's social community, perks, and buying items? If so, WHY?
