Actually there are avatar awards on the 360, e.g if you complete all the campaigns on expert in L4D2 or something like that you get Ellis' shirt for your avatar etc. So Microsoft didn't miss the boat.

OT: I don't because I don't have a PS3
I had no idea! What other games did this on the 360, do you know?
I know some other people have already said some, but Halo Reach had you unlock the SPARTAN helmets and armor for your avatar for getting certain medals in multiplayer, getting achievements, and completing the campaign on certain difficulties.
You mean Halo 3. Halo Reach you have to buy them with credits that you earn when you play multiplayer and do certain challenges, or you unlock them using Halo Waypoint by getting achievements and unlocking certain milestones.
No I mean for your 360 avatar not in-game armor permutations.

My sister, who is now 12, uses it. Daily. Whenever I see her on it, I facepalm... because she doesn't realize all the people around her engaging in extremely sexual conversations.

Oh... I think you still use Waypoint for those too.

What it does do, it does do quite well, and that being a virtual chatroom for fellow gamers to meet and greet. I don't see why people complain about it, to me its a nice little extra to go on if im bored for five minutes.

Plus free online chess, you can't go wrong with that.

I don't. It was a nice idea, but horridly implemented. Wouldn't have thought Sony would fuck up THAT much.

I got a sweet Sombrero for my avatar for shooting off someone's hat in Red Dead Redemption, I also found a Rockstar T-shirt in a chest somewhere in the wilderness.

I've got a Picklehaub and a Gas-Mask from playing Toy Soldiers.

Playing Crackdown 2 has netted me a 2 piece (body & helmet) Agent costume, a pair of Freak slippers, a Ruffian T-shirt and an Agency Squad Chopper toy/prop.

I've got a 3 piece King costume from Fable 3.

I've got a couple of T-shirts and a RC Car prop from Scrap Metal.

I'm sure I've got many more games with awards that I haven't earned yet, since most new games have them and I try to avoid finding out about the awards so they remain a surprise and a bonus.

I jumped into Home for the first time in a looong while. There are still tons of people running around, so yeah, people use it. People are buying digital items, and using the place as a digital chat room or gathering hall. It's used, even if it's not what you'd use it for. :)
I had no idea there was a community still using this. Is there voice chat still? I remember they had voice chat set up so if you were in proximity to another character, you could hear them talking.
It lasted all of like two days before it was taken offline, due to abuse.
I'm TEMPTED to take a look at it again, but I remember the ABYSMAL load screens.. transferring between each "area" was a pain in the butt, everything was ALWAYS being used with long lines in front of it, and I am NOT going to pay REAL money for VIRTUAL gear. I have NEVER bought anything for my xbox 360 avatar and I never will.

However, it would be nice if a lot of the stuff for avatars were obtainable by accomplishing trophies or whatever. I think both Microsoft and Sony missed the boat on that one.
Sorry I never responded to this. This is not my main account, but instead an alt account. Voice chat, near as I can tell, was removed a few weeks into the beta because of abuse, yes. It came back as a private area only feature. So if you're in someones private quarters, you can voice chat. But I think it's still offline for all the public areas.

A suprisingly high ammount of people are actually using it. Last time I used it was when I entered by accident when I meant to enter Playstation Store.

I forgot Home existed until right now. Literally. And I will proceed to forget after this is posted. It's just not an enjoyable concept to me.
