I think I'm going to have the same problems with DA2 as I did with DAO and ME2: The first playthrough will be great, but as soon as I start the second playthrough I'll be stricken by how mundane and boring the gameplay is.

The story and the characters are always pretyy fun, but the gameplay... *ugh*
Same:p
I didn't have this problem so much for Mass Effect, but I could barely pull myself through Ostagar on my second attempt of DA. I love Bioware for its stories, but once they're out of the way, the gameplay isn't exactly enticing.

I think this sums it up pretty well. It's just elitists being idiots. Pretty usual stuff, really.
you ought to be a bit more thankful for the "elitists", they are all that stands between quality games and an inexorable slide into mediocre, generic banality.

Of course if you like mediocre generic banality then I guess you have reason to be aggrieved.
No, the elitists are the ones who want the games to be as inaccessible and tedious as possible, so that the common folk can't enjoy them.

Well thats one way of putting it, but yes i like my games complex and involving... such games tend to seem inaccessible and yes they do repel casual gamers like bug spray. And sure, a game that you have difficulty getting into can seem tedious but i'll tell you this: there is no gameplay experience as rewarding as getting into one of these games and exploring its expansive detail.
Its a shame and a sad fact but the more accessible you make a game, the more, necessarily, you rob it of value beyond simple action and at best a good story; games can be so much more.

Bollocks are they!!
What do these elitists do that stops this "slide into banality"? Do they crusade against games developers who make what you describe as "generic" games? No, they just ***** and ***** over the internet with no facts only stupid bloody opinion.
Ha, well we are being heard are we not?

QED
No not QED!
QED is for when the demonstration proves the argument, you've haven't demonstrated or proved anything.
There is a very big difference between being heard and being listened to.

It doesn't have to be a mutually exclusive thing.
MvC3 has that simple control system that's great for the button mashing n00bs, but if you want to be competitive you still have to L2P on the complex control scheme.

And ... last I heard Bioware games come with "casual" difficulty settings ... so it really shouldn't matter if they balance the game around max difficulty (they don't, but they really should), 'cos people who don't care about the intricacies can simply play the game on a lower setting.
Y'know, those "press A to not die" settings. *shudder*

Nope, getting impressions from the demo is perfectly fine gameplay-wise.
I fully agree. A demo can make or break a game for me. First of all it gives me an overview of gameplay and if I'm going to like it and also its a chance for me to either fall in love with the world (or gameplay or any other aspect) or just to push it off as mediocre and not worth my cash.

So the only way to find out if a game is worth buying is to buy it and play it.

That seems counter intuitive but whatever you say boss.

The demo is released to try and get people to buy it. If you don't like the demo, what reason is there to buy the game? None.
no you dont have to play the full game, you could go look up and read many different reveiws, check out meta critic if you want a general score or just simply ask on the forums

and yeah the demo does give you a good idea if you like it or not

but it just seems so pointless making up your mind COMPLETLEY then Broadcasting to everyone how awful the game is, first of all you cannot get a full sense of how good/bad it is before it is out and if something like DA2 gets so much bitching over and over again its REALLY annoying, theres no need for it

ok so mabye you played the demo but can't you at least wait untill the game is out? please? because oyu dont belive how F-ing annoying it is to hear somome specualting that its going to suck...you might have an impression but you dont know yet..please find somthing better to do

in regards dragon age, are bioware trying to get into the sucess of ME2 (OMG I cant manage my squads equipment..no more pointless side quests?? RUINED FOREVER!!) yes they are theres no denying that,

are they cater soley to those "filthy console peasants"? yes, thats fine theres money in consoles and I dont give a fuck who can and who can't play a game, as long as I can Im happy...BUT they hav not abondoned PC and quite frankly in current times we PC gamers are lucky to have such a good dev standing behined our platform,

as for the changes, yeah thats subjective, but Im exited for the story, I like that my charachter can talk

so please for the love of god..what ever the game please please wait untill it is out THEN you can ***** away like theres no tomorrow

thankyou
If you're pissed off about something, ti's better to not start typing. Your post has horrible punctuation and spelling. if you had calmed down, you could've cut down your errors by a lot.

I myself won't be getting Dragon Age 2 because I enjoyed the sidequests and party tweaking. I also feel the "new art style" has a lot less atmosphere and beauty then Dragon Age: Origins.
So for me personally, the game would suck as a sequel. It might be good on its own, but they shouldn't have placed a 2 behind the name.
Yeah that happens when I type too fast

but I think its sill to completley write off a game before it comes out, I dont know if you played a demo or not

The demonstration is self evident, there is a outcry on the internet about games becoming more generic and action based. This very thread is because of that, thus we are being heard. True, the developers and publishers may not take much notice, but at least they know we exist, they know that not everyone is happy with what they're doing, and perhaps, just perhaps they will (maybe unconsciously) moderate the dumbing down changes they make.
At any rate, at least we care enough to make a fuss which is more than can be said for any other gamer demographic.

I agree, Being put off by the demo is not what Im complaining about, its just annoying doom mongering and acting as if you KNOW the game is going to suck....

I men no insult, but it looks like you're bitching about people bitching. If the intent was to be "meta" or "ironic," then well-played, but complaining that others are complaining comes off as rather hypocritical, especially if the main reason seems to revolve around them deriving a different conclusion than you.

I'm not even sure I care enough about DA2 to weigh in. DAO was boring and poorly constructed, but some people obviously do care enough to weigh in. As you did.

And honestly, since the idea of a demo is to demonstrate the game (hence the title), it's silly to assert one cannot develop impressions from one.

These threads generally stem less from logic and more from "I'm pissed off people hate something I like." Maybe that wasn't your intent, and as such I offered some criticism, but if your problem is people bitching, lead by example. Especially since your opinion stereotypes people in such a way that is every bit as "wrong" as complaining that they "consolised" a video game.

though maybe I'll go snag the demo. Maybe "abandoning PC gamers" is another way of saying "not tedious anymore."

So you think it's wrong to care enough about a game to voice you opinion about the sequel. Sure the game is not out yet, but the demo and the announcements have already told me that I will like this game a lot less than the first. Some people like complex inventory and a more tactical feel to a game. And It's clear that DA2 lacks a lot of what made DA:O a good game for me. If you have a different taste in games and DA2 seems better, fine. But if I want to voice that I hate a lot of the changes then I should be aloud to.

Yeah reading that again I was kinda angry

but aparanetly gameplay wise for the PC vesion I heard it hadnt changed that much (Im probably wrong I honestly dont know) another thing I find annoying is people basing their hateful opinion of the game on nothing more than what they have herd or read....not directing this at you, in your case I dont know

There are 2 ways to play the PC version ... zoom in and play it in 3rd person like on a console, or zoom way out into an isometric strategic view.
The strategic view is one of the things marketing for DA:O claimed to be a successor of BG2 ... and THAT is missing (at least in the demo).

I'm only annoyed is that BioWare hardly added anything new to the game. Sure they simplified things but aside from the dialogue wheel (which I rather disliked in the demo) everything is extremely similar. For example, the skill trees function similarly than they do in Origins. Fine I can live with that, but it just seems like they're taking out more than they're adding.

I still think that it will be a good game, but the demo turned me off somewhat. It seems like they wanted to make it more of a hack-and-slash type game (especially on the console version). Honestly, I wouldn't mind if it was, it'd probably be a whole lot different than Origins.

Meh I demand qaulity, so far I do not see it they ruined ME2 DA2 dose not look so bad but knowing just how watered down it is I won't know till it comes out.

Also I no longer for under whelming under deved games to come out to call them as what they are because I am more right than wrong.
