Seriously though, why are fanboys so oblivious to facts?

So my friend is a 360 fanboy and he keeps saying that ps3 graphics will never match 360, so i showed him heavy rain and told him it's ps3 exclusive and he told me "Those are the worst graphics I've ever seen" *sigh* so i showed him Alan wake and told him its also ps3 exclusive too(lol) and he told me the same thing. ok...ok those two i can take, so i went for the killer, i showed him Killzone 2. And he told me that halo 3 looks better... so i kinda just... decked him in the face and drove home. So why in the world are fanboys so damn blind? Is there something in their brain that blocks common sense?

Let me get this straight. You punched someone in the face for not agreeing with you on which console is the best and then you call him the fanboy?

Exactly, what gives?

Look, I'm lucky enough to own all three, and I have fun with all of them. Sure, the more varied lineup of the 360 makes it my favorite (don't tell the others; it'll give them a complex), but I give them each a fair go.

So, while they're ranting, I just sit and have fun.

On the subject, You're talking about "good" grapics, in which case it's really up in the air. Hell, the best graphics ever were on the SNES, although the movie before the title screen of Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Dungeon puts the Wii in a close second.
As for "most realistic", that's an entirely different matter, and probably a lot less subjective.

I'm less convinced that the PS3's hardware is so superior than I once was. Everyone said that MGS4 required so much memory/power that only the PS3 could do it, but I recently saw on Xplay that people are now claiming that the 360 can handle it, and capcom (My memory might be failing me, I think it's capcom that publishes it) is looking into porting it.

I knew a guy who used to insist that a game with crappy graphics automatically sucked, he wouldn't even try it; he was however a PS3 owner. Also why do you need to feel you need to make fun of fanboys? If they like a game and say it has better graphics, just say "OK" or "whatever" you don't need to argue with them about it, you don't need to always be right; granted though some fanboys are completely oblivious.

I have a friend just like that, except he also adds age to it. What I mean is, if a game that isn't Cod4 is more than 6 months old, has bad graphics, or no multiplayer (which I can understand, even if I totally disagree), he won't touch it or talk to me for a week if he found out I was playing it. He's the Cartman in our group of friends;nobody likes him, because he's a dick, but we keep him around anyway.

I'm not sure what it is, but I enjoy playing games because they're fun. I own Smackdown VS Raw 2008 for both the PS3 and 360. It looks slightly better on the PS3, but plays much faster on the 360. The output for both of the systems was HDMI, using the same cable and port on the television set, so as to remove as many variables as possible. The difference in play speed is obvious, with the game seeming to be smoother on the 360.

Of course, having more system exclusives is awesome. As for Fallout 3, I'm not sure which of the 3 playable systems I want to get it for. I'll probably get it for my PC or 360, because I have over 300 GB free on my hard drive, and I like achievements.

Console fanboys exist only because they are too poor to afford all consoles. Yahtzee already stated that

Nop, it really is because they can only afford one of them (financially or emotionally) so they have to force themselves to believe everything about their pick is the best.

I personally had more than enough money to buy all 3 consoles and a whack-load of games for each. I decided to go for a 360 because of it's FAR superior online.

By the way, I don't care if I have to pay for it. Good things don't come free.

Wiis have a poor gimmick (I still am planning on buying one though)
PS3s have superior graphics that first of all makes no difference to me, and second of all hasn't been used well enough for me to try to care.

Because they show an opinion on the internet, and are thus seen to be degrading its quality by insulting every potential person who doesn't hold said opinion.

Only a fanboy would be offended at someone else's opinion... well, to the point of actually arguing about it. Rational people who prefer one thing to another (you know, fans) like the object, in spite of the flaws. They accept and move on. They don't close their eyes and ears to it, which is what (in my opinion) separates a fan from a fanboy.

I'll admit I'm a fanboy. Only because I don't have the excess cash to actually own a Wii, and a PS3. So I am a bit more leaning towards the PC, XBOX360 side of the fence. Does this mean I think those other two consoles are horrible? Not really, and I respect the hardware inside the PS3 because of the incredible lengths of geekyness I go through with my computer. I've built it with my own two hands lovingly placed the processor inside the case and whatnot.

The point is the hardware inside of the PS3 is beautiful. Though my only experience with the console was Lair, and we all know that thing played like a wet brick. Then we can bring the Wii into this. It has it's quirks, and I did enjoy the time I spent playing twilight princess for it. Granted that was one of the only few games I actually got to touch for the Wii.

Though with all that said and done I still like what I have. I don't think they are particularly better then the other two gaming systems on the market, but they do have the majority of the games that I like to play on them. That and I'm a sucker for achievements which usually means that multiplatform games end up on my 360 even if I did have the other two systems. Ohh well my two cents on the subject considering it comes from the eyes of a slight fanboy I don't give it much worth.

Or, it's entirely possible that I'm right despite the fact that yahtzee said it. Or that I actually had this opinion which is very obviously what happens in the majority of the situations. Let me quote another post in this thread anonymously:

Unless there was some obscure reference in this thread to you specifically I never called you a fanboy, I was making a generalization towards "fanboys", which in my experience is true. People tend to be a lot less "slanted" when they have more than 1 console, and a lot of the fanboys started being fanboys because, at some point, they could only pick one, so it had to be the winner. The fact that you had to justify why you're not a fanboy only makes you look more like a fanboy, hopelessly attempting to cling on his denial by going over-defensive in an online forum. Srs bzns. Guilt is a *****.
