I want more out-of-this-world occult stuff.

Like Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call had.

"Oh hey, look, it's modern day Tokyo! Oh, wait, no... Now the city has literally turned inside out and there's a glowing, sun-like, living entity at the center of it all. Also, everyone except you and 5 other people are dead, which causes the inverted Tokyo sphere to be populated by demons and the souls of the dead."

Say want you want about JRPGs, at least they know something more then "hey, let's go rip off Tolkien again". Seriously, what is wrong with Western RPGs?

alternate history settings

Like if the great library at Alexandria hadn't been burnt down by Caesar, what would certain historic events be like with the knowledge that would not have been lost because of it.

Middle-Eastern Fantasy. Genies and flying carpets, all that good Arabian Nights stuff.
Yeah! I love 1,001 Arabian Nights (Or "A Thousand Nights and a Night" as my copy calls it, somwhat oddly). It's too bad we pretty much just have the Prince of Persia games to fill that niche in the setting department.

And I know there are a lot of games set in Cyberpunk futures, but I wish there were more GOOD ones. I love that whole genre, but I can only really think of three games off the top of my head I REALLY enjoyed, and two of them are Deus Ex games. Cyberpunk (and sci-fi in general really) are hardly under-represented in games, but they just don't seem to get the kind of love that medieval fantasy games do.

EDIT: Oh shit dig this: Cyberpunk 1,001 Arabian Nights? Oh shit yes... who wants to go to Kickstarter with me and get this project done? I'm just going to need an artist, a writer, a coder, a designer, another artist, a musician, some Grape Shasta (it hasta be Shasta), another coder, and some people to beta test it. I can do everything else.

We should have a game set in an empty apartment. No one has done that yet.

Space!

Theres been nothing good set in space for a verylong time.

Homeworld saga was the last proper good spacerelated game, Nexus came close.

The only decent one out today (That im aware of...) is Galaxy on Fire 2, and that's yet to come to Windows.

I think We need more WW1 games, although not necessarily a FPS , A silent hill kinda horror game could be good in the trenches and no mans land, I mean that place is freaky as shit!
That could be scary as shit!

My Idea, Victorian England, and I don't mean those appalling Sherlock Holmes / Jack the Ripper games

Hard to explain the setting I have in mind, really. An aesthetic and technology somewhere in between Cyberpunk and Fantastical Victorian Steampunk. The closest example I can even think of isn't even a game (yes I'm sure there's a licensed game of it...but those are usually shit and don't count). That would be Treasure Planet. We need more worlds and settings where a pirate with a Cyborg eye and arm, a creature that's native tongue is flatulence, and a wooden sailboat fit for inter-planetary space travel can be in the same space and no-one bats a single eye. I feel the world would be a much better place for it.

...I feel like watching that movie again, now. >.>

How about virtual reality ... like Tron? I like the areas where everything is just an outline with glowing neon flowing through it. Make a city like that.

A zombie game with some actual story to it.
If there is one out there, please do tell me, because i can't find one.

Seriously, despite the millions of zombie games, no-one has taken them as good grounds for a great story.
Is it simply because of 'Herp zombies, they be fun to kill!' and therefore that's all they're used for?

Modern day Japan. I can only think of two games set there.
Japanese Ace Attorney is set in Japan.

And no matter how much they try to assure us, no sane person would believe the translated version takes place in L.A. Honestly, those games are so Japanese it isn't funny (well it is, but you get the idea.)

Not a game but a visual novel, but they are both interactive media so screw it, but Fate/Stay Night. Takes place entirely in a modern city, with magic, heroes of the past, and 100 hours of intense battles and amazing story.
http://myanimelist.net/anime/356/Fate/stay_night This?

Persona 3 and 4 are some of the more interesting games. Still in a gameplay perspective I find not being able to control the other characters more of a hindrance then it being an immersion breaker if it did.

...Please, do not watch the anime. I beg of you. The visual novel I can link you reviews of, all of which are 10/10, all of which deserving. The anime is a bad bad adaptation of one of the arcs.

The anime was badly written, but the underlying story was beautiful. I would love a Fate/Stay Night type game. It would be perfect for hack'n'slash co-op.

I'd like some more Medieval action games. When I say Medieval I mean games that don't have any kind of magic or fantasy creatures. Just a medieval setting and gameplay.

Ancient Greece. A free roaming game set in Athens, Sparta and Corinth. Maybe an Assassin's Creed game after AC3. That would be awesome.
Those are three that I would really support. Especially an Ancient Greece game, I don't really care what genre it would be, as long as it gives a proper view of Greek civilization.

Actual unique and crazy out there mix and match setting's rather than isolated genres. I loved ffxiii's world of cocoon, to bad the game sucked. We need more totally made from scratch unique worlds.

The underlying story was beautiful because it was trying to be the visual novel. I'd highly recommend you download the visual novel and read/play/however-one-interacts-with-VN's it.

As for actual games rather than interactive media, well, there are some.

India in general, be it present or past. Anything goes really, fantasy RPG/hack'n'slash, 3rdP. adventure game, ala Assassins Creed or Uncharted, set during British Occupancy. Or maybe something GTA'ish in modern times?
The settling of North America, particularly Gold Rush.
The Seas - I'm thinking some kind of modern sailing/adventure, treasure finding thing.
Earth's Moon - in a realistic sciencey way.

Yeah I have played that, it's what made me think ww1 would work well with a scary setting.

With dinosaurs.

Really, any setting that isn't world war 2, 'modern war' or Tolkeinesque fantasy would work for me...

Especially time-travel. Not enough good time-travel games.
