I'm not quite sure how the Sex Sells concept is related to girl gamers who want attention.

I just meant that there are girls who claim to pay video games who want attention, and know that they can use sex/sexy images to get it.

A girl can use their sexual appeal to do this in any form of media. It doesn't just apply to video games.

lol. Yeah, I actually conducted an experiment with this whole thing. I have a blog and I thought I would check to see if putting a scantily clad picture of myself at the top of the post would generate more hits. It did. A lot more actually. To be fair, I didn't buy Mass Effect for the sex, hell I didn't know you could have sex until Commander Shepard "got some" on the third play-through.. Christ it took me 3 playthroughs.

I know that sex sells but actually while I am fine with girl gamers and there was one in my cod4 clan for a while that could kick my ass I still really don't like the girls playing video games that post oh I'm a girl every 5 minutes to get attention because while it always does it makes me think much less of them. In fact I never really thought of girl gamers how you said people do I actually thought untill I got out and actually met some that they were like how I just posted. i.e. whiny and annoying.

I wouldn't say that gamers in general get that much attention. The ones that do are either exceptionally good at their game of choice, or do something hilariously stupid- think Leeroy Jenkins.
However, when I'm actually playing a game- generally I will only notice/remember another player if they are exceptionally good, hilariously bad, or an annoying troll.

but on a serious note...On average the ideal of sex appeal really has been used for pretty much everything in marketing, regardless of the product.

do you really think a 400 pound greasy haired, acne faced slack jawed guy with a drooling problem is going to present a desired image for oh, say snickers? of course not " unless he's being shot out of a cannon or something funny like that"

so even if it's not really " ooh, baby come here and lick my ********************* " sorta selling of sex, the basic idea is using those of... lets say " better stock" for an image....

unless its a commercial for a crappy local dive of a pawn shop,,,,,I noticed they don't really try that as much or if they do it's the owners niece and....you know.. she's average..a 5 at best...but you know, who's gonna tell him she's sub-par, he seems so proud.

Hey now! Just have hope! I met my boyfriend because he worked at Gamestop.

That's good I am very blessed with a gorgeous girlfriend who approves of my pastime (obsession lol) and will listen to me rant on for hours about Andrew Ryan and how 'would you kindly' twists your gameplaying ideals...

That's in contrast to other girls who would get angry with me if I spent an hour playing San Andreas... I think guys feel lucky and surprised to meet girls who are into gaming because it means that they can share thier interests together.
