I'm not quite sure how the Sex Sells concept is related to girl gamers who want attention.

I just meant that there are girls who claim to pay video games who want attention, and know that they can use sex/sexy images to get it.

Of course! If women weren't considered sexy in today's society, men would be showing off. Because women are interesting to men, it attracts our attention.

I'm guilty as charged! Immediately within knowing that the person I'm fighting with/talking to has tits and a personality, I'm much more concerned with how I'm doing. It's perfectly natural, and I'd be forcing a fake response if I did anything else.

Sex sells, and there's nothing you can do about it. It may sell a bit more, or a bit less, but I bet that there were erotic articles and books as soon as they could be made. There's bloody stone carvings of naked ladies!

What it all boils down to, is personal choice. Naturally, I'm concerned if people are forced into degrading themselves. If it's a choice they make, then I have no problem viewing said material. If it's sexy, or just a little kinky, it shouldn't be a shock that people enjoy seeing it. I doubt that many people carry the notion that 'all women are skanks', I'd think that far more people would think, 'some women are skanks'. It's not a terribly noble thing to do, but it's certainly not appropriate to say what is decent, and what's not. If skanks cared about their reputation, they wouldn't sell their bodies. It's hard to be modest and feel superior if everyone covers up all the time. There has to be a comparison, right? For everyone at the top, there's gotta be someone at the bottom.

It's a matter of opinion in any case. I can't see any way of not letting girls take their shirts off without becoming super-Hitler, so why bother?

It's unfortunate even the video game industry is falling into the "I won't play any longer then 5 seconds if there are no guns, explosions, car chases, and/or tits" mentality. To be perfectly honest I find games that oversexualize female characters put me off, I didn't buy the game to look at a collection of code written to resemble enormous breasts. However, in response to what you said about girl gamers needing to show their bodies to get guys attention, you don't always need to do that. Stuff like what you've written gets my attention more then the preppy girl who walks around showing enough skin she might as well be in a bathing suit. Not only that, you've earned my respect because you've shown you got a good brain, you can think for yourself.

On a side note, it is nice to see good looking girls out there that do use their brain, around where I'm from any girl that has good looks immediately seems to resort to "sex will get me by" and shuts down any thought processes they might have had. Your boyfriend is lucky to have you.

As for sex sells (usually geared towards horny male teenagers), you're damn right. But the guys who actually buy a game for that are few or hopefully none. Sex is nice and all, but usually I'm looking for immersive realism with a large dose of violence in my games, not a playboy endorsment.
