I just google imaged 'Girl Gamer'.

Strangely enough, I don't find a girl with a copy of Call of Duty 2 on her vagina very sexy.
Yeah, I mean the box is in the way of...well, the box. Besides, I'd rather look at Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball.
LOL.

I have to say, I'm rather partial to Cammy and Sheva (especially in her tribal outfit). Those are some tasty polygons :D

If I was gay or a lady I would very likely wet my crotch over Chris Redfield's gargantuan shoulders or Captain Price with his German porn star moustache:D
Yes, because all women and gay men love the German porn star mustache. Haha
Of course they do! Everyone loves a german porno 'tache. What's not to love lol.

So, I'm going to speak about my personal experience with girl gamers here. I have played online with girl gamers and I have found that those who find it necessary to tell me that they are a girl are annoying as shit. "You just got beat by a girl!" is one of those types of gamers favorite phrases, to which I always respond, "Why the hell does that matter?" Then I get told I'm just a sore looser...so animosity towards this type of girl gamer has been second nature to me.

Though honestly, I don't respect the guy gamer who feels it necessary to shout out about his skillz either.

However, I have played with another type of girl gamer. The one that covers my ass in tf2, the heavy to my medic. The kind that owns me in Killzone 2, but treats the kill like any other. The kind that don't find it necessary to tell me every other five seconds that they are a girl. I respect this type of girl gamer, because they don't propagate the sexism that the other kind does.

Once again, I respect any gamer who does these things, so it's really not limited to girls I suppose.

This happens to put girl gamers in an awkward place. We want your attention and are trying hard to get it, legitimately. We write articles, reviews, walkthroughs? We kick your ass on XBox Live and even help develop the games you play.We explain that we are legit as any other gamer and we?re all the same, just with different equipment. But you don?t hear us, and that?s where things go down hill.
Why do you want our attention exactly? There are tons of guy gamers who don't get attention, so couldn't this list of grievances be said for both parties or did I miss something?
Like I said, sex sells. Sex sells a lot. To make matters worse, there are people who understand that they can use it to get attention. There are girls, who play games, who use it to get attention. As a friend of mine recently said, ?Success in a capitalist society is determined by number of hits on the site, and midriffs generate traffic.? You can see where this is headed.

There are a lot of "girl gamers" who show off there bodies to get attention because they don't know how else to do it. Unfortunately, they tend to give the rest of us girl gamers a bad name. And some how... these skin showing girl gamers are the ones who you find in the media. I mean google image searching "girl gamer" isn't safe for work...
And the guy gamers who oggle these "girl gamers" give guy gamers a bad name...can we just ostracize all of them?

This has become mostly tangent on my part, so I feel like throwing in one more thought. Should we as a whole be calling women who happen to play video games, girl gamers? It seems almost like a type of segregation. Why not just call them...oh I don't know, gamers?

Alright 2 things.

1. Any time I see the word ostracize and think of "ostrich-sized" from the Volition April Fool's video.

2. I never thought about the ooglers giving guys a regular guys a bad name, and I am really glad you brought that point up.

Personally I'm with Randall Munroe [http://www.xkcd.com/322] on the subject of most guys on the Internet and how they drive the geek girls away.

Yes, sex sells just as water is wet.

Now to see if games go from sex sells to selling sex.

I'm a guy, yes a sexy image grabs my attention, more than an image of some no-neck space marine who looks like he's had more 'roids than Arny and Stallone put together. It doesn't make me buy anything though.

I believe this article here will be of interest to you Ladie Au Pair.
http://www.destructoid.com/and-the-gamers-who-play-them-girl-gamers-77302.phtml

I can definatley understand from your point of view, well, kind of.
Several of my best gaming friends are females, some I know only via the internet, and one and all they hate random guys finding out that they are female.

They hate it because these immature little jerks start pestering them, and refuse to leave them alone.

The reason I have so many female gamer friends, is I think, because I treat them as gamers. I'm not interested in every woman I walk past on the street or in a shopping center, so why the hell would I bother a woman in a game? Im playing a game, so is she, just like I breathe air and so do you.

Whether you are male or female, if you are gaming I judge you by your actions, and on what you say, not your gender.

Edit: Thats not to say that I don't go 'holy crap' when I find out that girl ive been playing CSS with is really damn hot. They usually forgive me after I give them my facebook though lol

You really want to see a picture of a 31-year-old guy with a fast-food gut and hairy legs like Bigfoot? I mean, it can be arranged, but what you see cannot be unseen.

1. The Ostrich Hammer was great. I love a developer with a sense of humor(Insomniac, woot!)

2. no problem, just another perspective on things.

Sex sells everything, and yes, that includes video games. If it didn?t Tera Patrick wouldn?t be involved in the DLC for Saint?s Row 2. If it didn?t the girl on girl sex scene in Mass Effect wouldn?t have been a big deal. It was though, because sex sells? big time.

Thoughts, opinions? Is using your body okay for attention? Is it cool for these girls to give the rest of us bad names?
On the one hand it is wrong, on the other hand it is their choice to show off their own bodies. What is really wrong though is when people start to stereotype and think all women are like that. Like how some people think that all men are chauvinistic pigs. Men like that give men like me a bad name. I try to think of myself as a gentleman.

I found your article to be very well and professionally written. I enjoyed reading it. Very informative, you have real talent in writing.

Getting back on topic though, I don't like how sex is a main seller in the industry. So yes, I agree with your views on this subject. I am drawn more towards intelligence than sex anyway. My views but they are my views and I will not change them for anything.

Can't really speak for all guys, but the photos of the fully cothed female gamers at the bottom of your blog sure as hell got my attention, although it is probably fair to say that girls in general get my attention, so I don't really know where I'm going with that...

Well, it's always the noisiest minority of a given group that gets the attention, and the girl gamers who strip certainly are the noisiest.
And that's why most groups have bad names.

Well, if she can't appeal to guys' big heads, might as well appeal to the little heads. She can pretend she's special while she's getting plowed like a cornfield in the springtime, laid like a cheap carpet, or nailed like a roofing shingle, perhaps even pumped like a New England basement in April. Only other way she's gonna be "special" is if she's playing Fallout 3 or riding the short bus.

So your point is what? That what she is doing is fine?
