In short, I think you are making mountains out of mole hills.

But, maybe you are right. Maybe it comes down to the fact that Bioware don't want their character, the perfect hero of the universe, the macho commander Shepherd being a gay dude. The mainstream media and the mainstream gay rights movement kind of imprints gayness as pretty much the opposite of being a huge badass space marine and killing thousands of people.

However, they are happy having their perfect female commander Shepherd being a little bi-sexual flirt. Because that's hot.

It's a sad world we live in.

Did someone say you can do Garrus and Thane???

Not to overthink this, but Turians are avian and the Drell amphibious, so I can't imagine their reproductive organs would at all be compatible with a primate. I think it's fair to assume that whatever Shepard does with Thane or Garrus doesn't involve any sort of penetration.

A lot of the arguments here are based on the idea that including a same-sex option would be catering to a minority, implying that only gay people would want to roleplay a gay character. However, anyone who's ever been to TV Tropes, Television Without Pity, or a yaoi fansite knows that that there are many, many hetero women and girls who would love to do exactly that.

wait wait wait, are you insinuating that a lot of people WANT to have a homosexual character, even if they themselves aren't homosexual?

And question, why do only women want to play as homosexual character's?

Not only women (as this thread has shown, non-hetero men also play Mass Effect), but in the same way some straight men like the idea of female-female attraction, some straight women like the idea of male-male attraction. Ask your female friends.

I, too, am shocked that people are interested in things that I am not interested in.

Frankly, it's the two of you who have been keeping this thread on the front page. Without your "GOD WHO CARES I DON'T AND LET ME PROVE IT BY POSTING HERE MULTIPLE TIMES" this thread probably would be heading for death - by now it seems like most of the major point and arguments have been made.
