I did exactly the same thing, though I don't see anything "sad" about it. If they want to blatantly push their abstinence propaganda I have no issue dismissing it.

Answering in seriousness (yes I know you're being sarcastic), the sex scenes in ME are barely R-rated, seeing as you just get a few seconds of bare ass and some funny faces, and no sound over the music to provide concrete confirmation. They could just be having nekkid makeouts for all you know, hippy.
And again in seriousness, the only M-rated game I've seen marketed to children in recent years is Dead Space 2. Anyone who watched Extra Credit's "Open Letter to EA Marketing" (sadly no longer here but still available on PATV) knows what I'm talking about.
