This is suprisingly the 3rd or 4th time I have seen this question asked on the Escapist forum. I prefer mine trimmed so there is no chance of it ever getting caught in the zipper of my knickers. As for activeness, I'm a hermit who avoids leaving the house for anything.

I keep it short with scissors. I have sensitive skin, and I don't want to know how badly it's going to itch down there, it's bad enough on my face.

Shaved once. It was fucking horrible. It was painfully itchy as it was growing back. My boyfriend doesn't give a shit anyway so I just trim so it doesn't get out of hand.

Shaving regularly seems pretty impractical even if it weren't for the discomfort. Ain't nobody got time for that.

No fucking way man. I'm not going anywhere near my dick with a shaver or razor. I've heard it gets itchy as hell once you've shaved too. As for the whole fairness thing, I wouldn't expect a girl to shave on my behalf either. So there, fair.

That sounds so wrong to me. I can't explain why...

After the pain of when I did shave, I now trim instead. It's still short, and it doesn't sting like hell when it grows back.

I keep a separate trimmer with a small clip for specifically that purpose. Never shave. No. Fuck that.

Can't stand having a bush, though. I find it rather uncomfortable, preferring instead to keep it short and tidy. Genitalia and the surrounding area are no less deserving of proper maintenance, with or without a lady friend. At least, as far as I'm concerned.

I only have perspective on the male side of things. Shaving itself is difficult, and the result is awkware to look upon. The sensation at first is novel, but when ingrown hairs etc. start then it becomes far less so. The hair down there is rather coarse, and acts like miniature spears upon contact.

Trimming is preferable. 1/10th the time and effort and no downside unless you're shaky with the scissors/razor.

I trim or whatever the correct verb is it somewhat often with these small scissors. Yes, I'm kind of compulsive when it comes to my hair and it's more comfortable that way.

I never got the "I don't want to look like a child" argument, you're trimming hair, not reducing your stature and bodily development or mental state. Just say you don't want to, that's a perfectly valid reason for not doing so. >.>

Also yes I do.

I shave most of it, but leave a happy trail and some foliage. Don't think it's worth it? My wife like the feel of stuff shaved down there... on her tongue. That alone it worth it.

Plus I sweat less now.

..... I'm beginning to regret this. It's great that you're all rather open about it, though.
Did you see it turning out any other way? At least Mr. Atkinson's response is particularly appropriate here.

Me, I keep it shorter, only when I'm expecting action. It has all sorts of advantages which I believe have been covered adequately by now. Shaving is a bad idea though. Gets really scratchy and uncomfortable.
I wasn't sure exactly what I'd get out of this thread. I know these threads often get strange, but this was the first time I've genuinely been curious about the experience. And then I get posts about women's pubes smelling like piss before sex....
You know, the funny thing about the Escapist forums is that when you ask a real-life-related question you do tend to get a fistful of real-life-related answers.

As the great thinker George Bernard Shaw used to say: Shit don't have to be pleasant to be real, yo!

If there's anything you can take from this off-putting but genuinely true remark, it's this: Be grateful for people that keep themselves tidy, know how much work goes into a nice trim or that landing strip.

For ladybits, I generally like things short and shaped, plucking is also great (mind the ingrown stragglers, though). For men, that doesn't work as men generally don't see the purpose of suffering pain to look good.

Shaved cocks n balls are horrible. They look laughable and shit stings when it's not an unsightly mess of blisers, cuts and pus. Combined with a circumcised peen, it just looks too surreal and unnatural to be of any arousal value to me. All I can think of is overcooked squid.

Captcha: milk was a bad choice - wth?

I'm male and I don't trust my dyspraxic hands with a razor near the family jewels and as far as I know its better that way. Its a cushion for the lady and there's not been a single incident when its caused problems. I personally prefer the lady I'm with to be shaven since it makes giving easier but if its not shaved, I'm not fussy so it won't stop me.

Actually, baldness chafes.
Not when the parts are properly lubricated.

Friction causes damage, so by reducing friction you reduce damage. However, body hair causes irritation and damage no matter how well lubed. Just ask any swimmer.

For reference, I recommend KY Tingling (and mint flavored) massage oil or Wet brand Strawberry Kiwi lube.

I used to shave, but I suffered from ingrown hairs and I can tell you that was one of the most uncomfortable moments of my life.
Now I simply trip, except for the actual testicles which I shave - since those hairs never really seem to ingrow or itch as much as around the crotch itself.

That said, single and busy so right now I just trim without any shaving at all for comfort reasons alone. If I let it all grow out I feel sweaty and dirty.

Trimming is the way to go. Going bald, unless you're waxing (and even then) is such an unpleasant feeling as the hair grows back. The itch is unbearable for me so I just trim every month. Same goes with arm pits.

Though I will say that I prefer my girlfriend to be completely shaved but some months she doesn't feel like it's fine with me. I just don't like jungles heh
