...considering, when last I checked, the current CEO of Big Blue is Mike Duke, I would like to see this.MurderousToaster said:So, is this Knox woman going to rip of Duke's head and shit down his neck?
I love that the first comment is by you, with an avatar of Johnny Bravo.WanderingFool said:Damn Duke... you're not even trying to piss these people off, are you?
You weren't originally planning on buying/playing the game?Andy Chalk said:The irony is that if Walmart does end up banning the game, I'll be compelled to buy it elsewhere even though I have absolutely no interest in it whatsoever, so here's hoping that Shelby Knox doesn't end up costing me 60 bucks as a matter of principle.
I was going to say exactly this. so thanks for ninja-ing my thoughts hahabomblord said:Wait wait wait wait wait do you Honestly believe anyone signing this petition will actually buy t his game in the first place use common sense people it won't impact sales at all since no one on the petition was buying it anyway so walmart won't give a shiz
Ok, found this on my way back, and I have to ask. Do you seriously mean to suggest that this and everything else in/about this game is NOT in fact satire played for laughs? Are you really saying that you can look at a game mechanic of this nature and take it seriously enough to be offended?LiquidGrape said:I think Duke Nukem Forever is an equal-opportunities stupid concept, absolutely.Epictank of Wintown said:I'm curious. Don't you think that the game is equally sexist toward men as women, seeing as it paints the "ideal man" as a musclebound, knuckle-dragging, neanderthal meathead with rippling biceps, a tendancy to womanize, consume copious amounts of alcohol, and treat women like crap?
I'm being 110% serious here.
But to be honest, I don't see the alleged satire involved in this project. Whatever there might have been in previous incarnations, this time around it would seem they are simply aiming to deliberately offend specific ideas and movements (e.g feminism) rather than satirise the absurdity and hyperbole of its own content to some cathartic effect.
I don't trust the developers to have the level of insight to see that difference. At least not when judging by how Pitchford has approached the issue in official statements.
If you'll read my post again, I never said the developers are being deliberately sexist. I said they are missing the point of satire, and has rather resorted to a cheap exploitation of its own source.Azdron said:Ok, found this on my way back, and I have to ask. Are you in fact suggesting that the person who came up with it, the person who coded it, the person who animated it, the person in management who ok'ed it and anyone else involved in the process of getting from idea to implemented game mode are in fact ALL sexist bigots? That SOMEHOW an entire team of paid professionals including several well respected members of the game development community and high level managers and probably investors. All looked at this and said "Yep, that's what we think of women"?
Do you honestly believe that an entire creative team could bring themselves to create and release something so backward and so stereotypical with the intent to be taken seriously? Is this in fact the world you believe you live in?
This is the charlie sheen of the video game world. Im shocked and appalled that anybody treats it with any more respect and seriousness than they would treat two and a half men (which was also SO horrible that you just had to laugh. if not WITH the show, then at least AT it)
If this game ISINT blatantly ridiculous at first glance then your probably sexist.
