How cute.

Perhaps at some point, there can be an extra multiplayer mode added in which two teams must fight towards the middle of the map, capture Shelby Knox, and plant her in the enemy base. She'll flood their comm systems with her rhetoric, and as such, a team can only survive for one minute if she's in their base.

It could be called "***** Quest."
Hahahaha love this idea. I can hear an announcer saying "The ***** Has Been Planted!"

Please don't go there.
We're dangerously close to Rush Limbaugh territory [http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/200508160001].
And we don't want that, do we?
While Knox is a bad example of his point, he's not entirely wrong...
She's dead now, but still.

Anyways, on topic, I'll just buy the game at Best Buy if I decide to. Of course at the risk of becoming an extremely terrible person.

""The Capture the Babe mode of the Duke Nukem game, which will be played primarily by young people,"

Its rated 18, argument lost.
And if any young kids get their hands on it, it's because their parents were dumb enough to buy it for them.

Also, as soon as I read the part that said this lady was nationally recognized, I went, "Shelby who?"

She lost me at "the Duke Nukem game, which will be played primarily by young people..."

What in the name of sanity makes this woman believe that this game will be played "primarily by young people?" Does she think that the idiots who buy whatever their kid points to on the shelves, sight unseen, will make up a MAJORITY of customers? Few people have a lower opinion on the IQ of the American consumer base than I do, but even I give parents more credit than to suppose they will make up >50% of the purchases.

Oh wait, I forgot, video games are toys for kids.

This woman is a disgrace to feminism.

On the plus side, if Wal-Mart caves, it will do nothing but hurt Wal-Mart sales, and DNF won't be primarily affected by losing the Wal-Mart demographic.

Seriously, let's please wait until things EXIST to start trying to censor them.

The "until Gearbox removes" part is my favourite though. Keeping it out of Walmart would suck for sales, but trying to hold the money ransom by forcing them to remove things is borderline insulting.

And to the people saying "whatever": do you actually comprehend the amount of profit generated SOLELY by Walmart sales for pretty much everything it's in the business of selling? This is NOT "a problem for Walmart and not for Gearbox". If Walmart doesn't sell it, I don't think the it's going to be particularly dangerous to Walmart itself, but you can bet that it'll be a not insignificant chunk of sales from Gearbox.

Didn't Randy Pitchford say that if there was some way that someone could use Duke to promote feminism, that would be awesome?

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/107952-Can-Duke-Nukem-Become-a-Feminist-Hero

Oh, he did. I don't think this is what he had in mind, though since this hardly promotes feminism now, does it? I think these kind of petitions is far more likely to make some gamers annoyed with feminists rather than the opposite, i.e. their reaction is counterproductive.

I have no real opinion of whether or not the mode should stay in the game, as I have no intention of buying it anyway.

Thank you for reminding me that the role of radical feminists/"women's rights" groups isn't to create equality, but to create inequality in their favour.
Was there ever any doubt? Anways, I could just get the game at Gamestop. And we both know they are going to carry the game regardless.

They may get Walmart to cave though. Think about it: Most soccer moms I know shop there. If word of this devious deviant game spreads enough, Walmart may just choose to lose the sales of the gamers (who can get it elsewhere), in order to keep the sales of the soccer moms.

When something is offensive, it is made for the purpose of bringing insult to something
When something is satirical, the offensive point is turned to show the humor in the situation.

Duke Nukem is SATIRE, not offensive! When will people learn...

Fine, I'll just go to the Gamestop I preordered this game from, I'm sure I'll get some exclusive Gamestop bonus content from them anyways.

Lol what do they hope to accomplish? The people who signed this petition probably don't even game so their opinion doesn't even matter. And so what if Walmart continues to sell it? What are they threatening Walmart with? No longer shopping at Walmart? As if. Besides even if all those people did, I'm sure losing 5700 isn't so big considering Walmart has 8500 stores in 15 different countries that's less than half a person per store! lol! (thank you google for the stats ;) )
Yeah is that same walmart thats fighting off a class action sex discrimination law suit? I wonder if they might not want have any more bad PR from feminists at the moment , seeing that losing will cost them 10s of millions, I think they might have a different perspective than you.

Walmart witness: Walmart has long and distinguished record of positive attitudes to women:

Class Action Lawyer: So why do you sell a game that in which you have to slap women to keep the quiet?

Walmart witness: Is only game and its just a joke and hey there only few feminists that shop here anyway.

Jury: GG walmart got pawnd in the face
Well its not slap, its spank there's a diff. And Walmart can't be sued for that, maybe Gearbox, but not Walmart. Maybe they should just take it out for now, then implement a patch for it later. Personally I don't care much for that aspect of the game but I'm sick of people bitching about things in games. When will there be a day when developers will have true freedom in game development and in fact all developments in the world. People like Shelby Knox (not saying in this case), people who want to shut down unpopular ideas and remove satirical or humorous content even though they are just jokes are the people who actually should get a slap in the face to shut up.

Either way, if Walmart doesn't sell, EB games can have my cash, i dont even mind paying extra if I have to, then i'll even be so juvenile as to send a picture of myself playing the game and "spanking" the chick lolololol.

You could say that she wants duke nukem out of wal mart...

FOREVoh im sorry that joke is prettymuch in the title.
YEAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!

Though I probably won't get it (GF, Younger Brothers, etc.) I think it has a right to exist because hey, if the exact same type of stuff can exist on movie then it has a right to exist in a game format.

On a side note: If anyone made a game from the Commando movie, would it meet as much drama?

"If Mr. Pritchford [sic] thinks violence against women will boost his bottom line..."

I found that funny...just me cause I'm weird.

I support any petition that will cost Wal-Mart business. Especially as anyone who wants the game can get it easily elsewhere. Don't look at the motivations; look at the end result :)
