Rin was trying not to think about a lot of things at the moment. Such as the giant worm tentacle things that threw them back and then morphed into massive stone arms. Cause she knew if she let herself think about it, she might just freak out. She gave a quick shake of her head to focus and drew Inari fourth again. "Mabufu!" Inari seemed almost amused at Rin's command and danced back an fourth as she sent ice shards flying at the arms.

The force of the push finally did away with the careful footwork he had been employing and soon enough he was on his back. Though it was probably for the best as one of the worming tendrils snapped through the air at about where his torso would've been otherwise. The lashing tentacles were what startled Isoroku; the claymore wielding arms they transformed into were just too random of a change to have much of an effect on him. Leviathan rushed at the arms and cast Pulinpa at one of them, anxious to see how useful this new skill might be.

Kojiro stayed down while his party attacked, being the front and center of the worming Shadow's attack had knocked him back and head first into the ground- and now he was sure he was eating slime. Oh, lots of people had to pay for this.

He stood up spitting and commanded Quetzalcoatl to attack the closest one with lightening.

Yamada nodded. "I agree. We shouldn't do what's comfortable down here because it's likely a trap. I say left as well." His eyes roved over the walls still trying to wrap his mind round how this all worked.

Fridmund/Mizushima/Yamada:

Eber concurs with your decision: to the left, it is. This area of the tunnels navigates much like an old home, though rather larger and with less utility than is standard. It's eerie, without the warmth of generations to fill it.

The floorboards creak where you walk. The silence is lethargic, heavy with presence.

"I sense three Shadows around the corner. You should be able to surprise them."

Eber looks at the two of you and nods, indicating he believes the plan to be the best route. He creeps just slightly forward, peering around the corner.

Three huge black beetles skitter to and fro in front of one of the doors in the hallway. They appear to be expectant of something. Their purple masks glint in the artificial light.

ADAMANT BEETLE x3

Claim initiative on these Shadows.

Ishikawa/Junsui/Yoshida:

Left Justice Sword: [1d6=4] Success
Right Justice Sword: [1d6=2] Success
Goddamn lucky son of a *****

Leviathan's spell breaks the sentience of the monstrous arms; the magic of the others' Personas deals extra damage due to the enemies' lowered defenses. Electricity seems to be particularly potent.

The two stone arms turn on each other and they do not cease until one is destroyed; the last beats its own sword on itself until it, too, crumbles away to nothingness. The battle is a complete success, with minimal damage to the party.

Yamada was amazed at how handy this new system was. He readied his spear and ran forward to stab at them, wanting to get that first strike on them. He tried to strike for a soft spot, but couldn't find one so he simply aimed for the head, hoping this wasn't a terrible idea.

'Beetles?' Kumiko was just about to charge forward in attempt to smash the things under her foot, but thought better of it. They were giant beetles. Last time she checked, they had protective shells, multiply that by giant and you have a pretty damn hard shell. Hardened shell or not, she was relatively sure that bugs still didn't enjoy the feel of being burned and set the first one she saw ablaze.

Rin felt very exasperated at the moment. The fact that the fight had ended in such a way just left her feeling confused and dazed. She looked at the other too. "Did that really just happen?"

"Usually they aren't that...easy." Isoroku was somewhat dubious, but he'd take it. Though now there was something else bothering him.

"How much time do we have?" With as smoothly as things were going he sure as hell didn't want to leave yet (not that they had found an exit) and he was beginning to feel as though they would run out of time before they would become exhausted from fighting.

Fridmund/Mizushima/Yamada:

Eber assists Kumiko by blasting the same Beetle with a gust of wind; it's knocked on its back but the other two charge forward, attacking with pincers at hip level.

The German shouts and jumps backward, protecting his junk. He kicks it in the face. They seize Kumiko by the lower leg, and one rears up to get a taste of Yukimura.

Ishikawa/Junsui/Yoshida:

"Don't worry," Hikaru reassured them, "You've still got a couple hours left before you need to be back at the hall of the doors. ...Well, I guess that means it takes an hour to get back here from where you are... D-Don't worry!"

It's probably a good thing you decided against taking the left path; it seems slightly more agitated after the battle. The path on the right is just as slimy and wobbly as the room you just exited, and it's still as dark. Rin's flashlight allows you to proceed without stumbling when you discover steps leading upward, gradually more stable as you ascend until they're replaced by metal grating rather than amorphous ooze.

Kumiko was paying far too much attention to Eber trying to protect himself and she did not have enough time to get out of the way herself. She didn't even have time to curse at her misfortune. The panicked girl was firing off questions in her head, 'Does Baldr's fire hurt me? If it does, just how much will it hurt? Should I kick it in the face or well that just make it grip harder? Fuck it!"

Kumiko swung her other foot into and hoped to go that it wouldn't hurt her more than she hurt it.

Rin was somewhat surprised as the stairs became more stable and appeared to be made out of metal. She thought about questioning the sudden change, but decided against it. After all it was a massive improvement over all the slime. "Well um at least we're heading up, and theres no more slime. Still do you think we're heading further into the tunnels or heading out?" She glanced at Kojiro and Isoroku wondering what they thought on the matter.

Yamada shouts as it comes at him and tries to force himself free of its pincers. He feels them dig into him, tearing at his neck and face and shouts out for Fionn to drive his spear into the thing, struggling out of it's grip.

"Who knows?" Isoroku shrugged and peered down through the metal grate beneath their feet "At least the floor isn't covered in snot anymore..."

Kojiro reaches up and taps the AMP shouting, hopping o get Seiya's attention, "Hey Seiya!" he stops on the now metal stairs, "Does it feel like we are getting father away or closer to you? You can distinguish that sort of thing can't you?"

Fridmund/Mizushima/Yamada:

Eber recovers his senses in time to keep the third beetle, who has righted itself during your struggle; he uses a Magaru spell to knock all three back, giving you space to properly attack. His knife swings down, but glances off the hard shell without doing any real damage...

Ishikawa/Junsui/Yoshida:

"Sorry, Ishikawa-san..." Her voice seemed quieter, but still clear enough to hear. "You're not going any further or closer--just... up.

There's a thick black mass at the top of the stairs; it swirls and distorts, but you can't see through it. It reaches out to you when it senses your presence, lazily and without malice.

Will you touch it?

Kojiro takes a step back, "W-what the hell is that!?" He looks over his shoulder at the others, "Is that a shadow? Its blocking the way..."

He turns to Rin and Isoroku to see what they suggest.

Rin glances around Kojiro to get a better look at it. She shrugs her shoulders at Kojiro. "I don't know, but um unless we're willing to go back, we have to do something." She thinks for a moment. "Well we could um either try touching it or attacking." She glanced between the two of them, hoping they had better ideas."

"I'm not going back down there!" Kojiro shook his head. "Come on, Roku...I'm gonna see what it does, cover me if attacks, ok?"

"Poke it." Isoroku said, stone faced and serious. "Poke it with your sword or something. Then if it, I don't know, goes all crazy we can attack it."
