Kumiko got to her feet and backed up a bit. She was right about not wanting to try to hit them, attacks seemed to be utterly useless. If she could just get to their undersides it'd be a different story, but she didn't see that conveniently happening for them. Physically striking their bodies was getting them nowhere. "Agi!"

The next beetle she saw outside of this place would wish it never came out that day.

Yamada caught his breath and shouted for Fionn again, this time hitting for all of them again. He may not be able to do much to them, but he figured hitting all of them was better than just one. He was starting to feel some of that now familiar exhaustion that only fighting in these tunnels could bring, but not enough for it to slow him down yet.

Kojiro nods, and eases forward towards the black mass. He tentatively pokes at the substance with the end of his sword. He half expects it to recoil and half expects it to grab him and suck him in...

He hopes it pulls back.

Fridmund/Mizushima/Yamada:

One beetle melts away: the other two are fighting viciously to avoid an imminent death. Eber's final Magaru destroyed them after Fionn softened them up.

The German slumped, gasping for breath.

"This tired already...?"

HP: ========
MP: ==

Ishikawa/Junsui/Yoshida:

Kojiro's guess is half-correct--the mass slurps up the sword, snatching it right out of his hand.

"Well, it's not like that tiger was all that easy. And those beetles..." She too didn't quite expect them to be ready to go so soon. But those two battles weren't exactly a cake walk. Kumiko felt the strain on her mind more than her body, but the fatigue still showed. "Should we start heading back soon?"

'I'm sure the tunnels aren't going anywhere.'

"Not to mention those jar women earlier. You're right though. We should head back. If we're this tired already who knows what would happen if we were ambushed on the way back to the platform." He wanted to keep going, but it was better to err on the side of caution. They may be stronger, but the enemies seemed to be improvinng as well.

"....SON OF A *****!" Kojiro screamed profanities in rage. He couldn't believe that he just lost his sword, it was only Quetzalcoatl's will that kept him from running in after it.

"ARGG! GIVE BACK!! Quetzalcoatl! GET IT OUT!!" He pointed angrily at the mass and ordered his persona to attack.

Fridmund/Mizushima/Yamada:

"Right..." Eber ran a hand through his matted hair, "It must be getting close to our scheduled meeting time, besides. Let us return to Hikaru."

He turned and led the group around the corner and back to where the scene had shifted from neon checkers to the old manor. It was eerily silent, and it made the boy nervous to compare the numerous encounters of the subway tunnels to the relative few here in these new areas. The lighting conditions affected it, perhaps.

His hand touched the doorknob to turn it and there was a sound that rocked the frame of the Victorian manor, a heavy throb reminiscent of pendulum clocks upon striking the hour. It continued, accompanied by the sound of floorboards creaking outside of any discernible rhythm of feet; Eber hesitated, fearful that to open the door would mean tripping another invisible trap.

You see a man whom you do not recognize come down a flight of nonexistent stairs and round the bend and vanish. He reappears at the ceiling to make the round again, and repeat it. Similar to the first visit to the White Room, copies burst out from him, marking each step in frozen procession with a dark-haired middle-aged man in a fine suit.

".eromyna siht od t'nac I"

When he reached the bottom, rather than disappear, he split off into three directions, pacing the hallways that branched off. More and more until the room was filled with this one man.

".mih llik ot gniog m'I"

As one, the clones stopped and faced the back of the room, snapping in a blink together to be one again. He was no longer passive, but screaming defiantly at the empty wall.

"?!ENOD UOY EVAH TAHW"

When the man was suddenly ripped apart was when Eber regained his senses; he blocked Kumiko with his body to defend her from the sight of the gruesome death and wrenched open the door, shoving the three of them into the brightly colored tube and slamming it shut behind them.

"We need to get out here!"
"What's going on?!"

------

Ishikawa/Junsui/Yoshida:

The winged serpent is summoned to tangibility, diving into the abyss with a snarling hiss. The moment it clears the edge, however, Kojiro, you feel a pull on your body from inside your chest, lurching you forward no matter the strength of your struggling until it sucks you in right after.

Isoroku and Rin are left to ponder their next move.

Ishikawa:

When the blackness finally spits you out, you cut your hand when you put it out to brace your fall and it finds your sword. The pull is gone, though, indicating that Quetzalcoatl is once again with you. As you stand, you see that you're within what looks like a factory for... something.

"Hav--I can--Koj--ook for--"

Hikaru's voice is cut out by static.

Kojiro looked around the new area, "...the fuck am I now?" He looked back over his shoudler to see if he could go back. Hearing Seiya's static voice in his hear he started trying to talk to her. "Hey- Seiya-senpai...I've been pulled someplace new...Seiya?"

he frowns realizing this is a wasted effort. he stands still hoping Rin and Isoroku will follow.

"What the hell?" she remembered seeing Seiya in the same fashion before. All of this was so strange. Just watching it was creepy enough. Something was happening, whatever it was she only caught a glimpse of what was about to happen before her line of sight was blocked. And quite suddenly, she was in the brightly colored room again.

Kumiko knew well that when someone said they needed to leave the tunnel, they needed to haul ass out of there. And she wouldn't be the one to hold them up. It was time to go and she hurried for the exit.

Rin took a few steps forward and just missed grabbing Kojiro. She turns to Isoroku. "Quick grab on, maybe we can pull him out.". She braced herself and stuck her hand into the distortion, hoping she could maybe grab onto Kojiro.

There was a part of Isoroku that just wanted to leave things be rather than possibly get swallowed up by a...whatever that thing was. Still, he found himself grabbing Rin's other hand as he knelt down, grabbing ahold of the steel grate beneath them to use as a sort of anchor.

'This has bad idea written all over it...'

'What did that all mean?'

Shiori was laying in bed, still trying to replay that dream in her head. She couldn't fall back to sleep, so she might as well do something. The scenes at the end were what she was focusing on in particular. There had to be a reason those scenes played out in her mind. And those seemed the most realistic of the bunch, rather then the first two longer sequences.

"OK what was there again?" she began, talking to herself trying to jog her memory. "There was like a desert...don't know why, never even been to a desert before. Seen them on TV, yeah, but that wasn't a TV. There was a river...that I don't recognize. There was a bunch of things eating people...what were those things? I don't even know. There was a train.....but it was underground? And was it blue? Yeah. Yeah it was blue. But why?"

She closed her eyes trying to bring up the picture again. "All right, there's the blue train....it's underground.....Those tunnels look familiar, don't they? Course they do, all tunnels look pretty much alike. Wait....wait the tiling! I did see that! I know where that was!"

She quickly got out of bed and got in front of her computer. Almost frantically, she scrolled through the history on her browser. "Come on, come on, I know I saw that," The pages and pictures whirled by as she clicked through, until she finally hit her target. "Yes! There it is!" Her computer screen flashed one of the stories on the Uramichi-cho subway killings, and she saw the walls almost exactly as she saw them in her dream.

"So, there's a blue train in the subways just down the street here according to that crazy dream. Maybe I should have a look around there." A huge yawn escaped Shiori's lips. "Tomorrow. Definitely tomorrow." She headed to her bed. "Least now I got something on those crazy dreams, maybe now I can sleep finally." She got back in under the covers and tried to go to sleep for a second time.

Yamada stared, shocked. Even after they were out of there he was still sort of unfocused. His mind tried to piece together what just happened. "What makes that happen? We have to get back to Seiya-sempai." He wanted to understand the nature of the tunnels.

Ishikawa/Mizushima/Yamada:

Hikaru is waiting for you at the door between the blue and yellow tube and the white room; her bow is at her side with an arrow notched as a precaution.

"Are you all right?!"

"The thing happened again," Eber blurted out, stopping only briefly in front of their senpai, "The thing with the images... Come, let us discuss it later!"

Hikaru nodded and led them out, closing the other door as well as an added barricade. Nothing seemed to be following them... for now. "I'm glad you're all okay. I've lost contact with Kojiro, and I was worried the same thing would've happened to you too."

------

Junsui/Yoshida:

Rin, your hand gets sucked into the blackness and almost takes the rest of you with it but for Isoroku's grip.

Ishikawa:

Kojiro, you see her hand on your side, blindly groping for you.

Kojiro smiled. he knew his friends wouldn't leave him behind.

He grabbed his sword and rushed forward to the hand. He took hold of it with one hand and the wrist with the other. "Pull me back!" He moved forward, hoping that if they couldn't hear him they would at least feel him pushing forward.

Rin felt a sense of fear engulf her when it took her hand. For a moment she thought she might get pulled in. Once she was sure she was fine, she tried moving her hand around a little and gasped when she felt someone grab onto it. "Quick Isoroku help me pull. I think I have him." Rin dug her heels into the stairs and did her best t help Isoroku haul Kojiro out of the thing.

As he felt the others pull, Kojiro continued to push forward. He struggled to fight against the masses tide to spit everything it had in it out onto the factory side and pushed to make it back to the stairs in that god awful slime filled hallway.

Who would have thought he'd miss it?

Isoroku pulled at the grated floor with one hand, pulled at Rin with the other, and by proxy pulled at Kojiro. It felt like pulling on a rubber band with increasing tension and he had an eerie feeling all of that stored kinetic energy was going to release sooner or later. If they wound up with Kojiro or just a torn off arm, he couldn't be sure. Though it was safe to say he was going to do a face plant into the same floor he was holding onto as a result.

"You've lost contact?" Kumiko felt the strangest mix of emotions. Whatever it was, she was putting it more on not wanting anyone to end up like the chair-broiled Seiya. What happened to him? "What about the others? Are they alright?"

'We're helping them, right?'
