Kojiro was excited to have Hasegawa-senpai on board. He felt with the added power of the senior, that the factory wouldn't be so bad. Even if she was a novice with her persona, she was physically powerful.

"Okay, Hasegawa-senpai, since you're new to this, we won't put you up front, just in case the stuff in the factory is really tough." Kojior took out his flash light and carried a wound up rope over his shoulder. "But we have to keep close together...Once we go through the portal we'll be cut off from everyone else. So we just have each other to rely on."

"Got it," Shiori replied, nodding. "I'll be keeping close anyway, I didn't have a chance to get a replacement flashlight. Mine got melted during my trip to the tunnels."

She felt kind of foolish having to admit that, but it was the truth, and for a team to be successful, you had to be completely open and honest. At least that was her opinion.

Kumiko struggled to pry herself out of the car. Though it was a well sized vehicle, they still had a lot of bodies to fit inside. The first group had already piled out, but she still felt cramped. Before she was going anywhere, she stretched, limbering herself up for every Shadow that would jump out at them. And she would most certainly need to if they were to return to that place again. They would most certainly have to be on their toes. Her nervousness was apparent in her voice, "A-Are you guys ready?"

Yamada noticed that waver in Mizushima's voice and that in itself worried him. He stepped out behind her and removed his spear from the car.

He wanted to be encouraging, but wasn't used to finding the words for it. "Of course. We can handle anything."

He decided that confidence was the way to go and considering the strengths of their team they had more than enough reason to have it. They were a force in themselves. He offered a little smile. He was more than excited to get down there. Every absence from the tunnels, every pause in their progress felt far too long to him.

He turned to the German for support with their other teammate, aware that he was most suited for it then turned to their female companion, asking both of them. "Isn't that right?" He didn't sound worried.

Rin felt a mixture of excitement and nervousness about entering the tunnels yet again. Having a fourth member on their team did make her feel a bit better though. Still she was worried about this factory Kojiro had found. She glanced over at Hasegawa upon hearing her admission. She took a few steps closer to the older girl to help share her flash light with her. "Don't worry Hasegawa-san. We weren't very prepared ourselves when we first came down here either. But um for tonight we can share my flash light okay?"

Eber laughed, "Of course!" He rolled his shoulders, popping the chinks out of his neck and smiled his German smile at Mizushima. "Come. I will be right beside you."

He held out his hand to her. Isoroku almost barfed.

"Anything we come across in the factory has got to be better than this..." He started off down their assigned leg of the fork while Hikaru watched over them from the balcony, "Let's go before time starts running out. Hey... Any ideas why these Piece of Shit AMPs don't work in that building? Interference from the portal, maybe...?"

She returned the smile, feeling safer already. Kumiko took hold of his hand and scoffed at Yoshida. He didn't see what was in there, he didn't understand. Though he did have a valid question. It was peculiar that the AMPs did not work where they were. But so long as they all stayed together, they'd be safe. At least that was her hope.

"Thanks Junsui-san," Shiori replied as they started into the tunnel. She got a little worried when Isoroku said that the AMPs didn't work where they were heading. She reminded herself to stay extra close to the others, as if there wasn't already enough incentive.

She thought about it. "Maybe it's radio interference from the factory? It sounds like the kind of place that could be producing something like that."

Kojiro smiled as they headed through the tunnels. "That's a good theory Hasegawa-senpai. Maybe we can turn off the machines?" He looked over his shoulder and tossed his senpai a reassuring smile, he was right. Having Hasegawa around was going to greatly imporve their chances.

Shiori smiled back at Kojiro. It felt good to contribute something right off the bat. She instantly felt more at ease with the situation. It was like hitting that first jump shot of a game. Now that she had it, she felt like things would just keep falling.

"Well if we can't turn them off, we definitely have the tools to disable them," she noted.

"That's for sure!" Kojiro lead his party back through the tunnels to the slippery slimy slope. The old rope was still there for them to shimmy down. "Okay I'll go first, then the girls, then you Isoroku. And we have the second rope to deal with the portal... So let's go."

Kojiro took old of the rope and used it to head down into the dark moist tunnel. Sometimes he hated this place...scratch that, most of the time he hated this place.

Rin made a small sound of disgust as Kojiro went down the rope. She hadn't considered that they'd have to come this way again. She sadly reached down and picked up the rope and began sliding down the slope. 'Just don't think about it.' She repeated that thought over and over again as she went down.

Shiori knew that this was coming. She had been told about it, she had it described to her, but that still wasn't enough preparation for the sight of this slope. It was like everything got scraped out of every runny nose she had ever seen, and stuck to this floor.

She turned back to Isoroku and said, "OK, this is a lot grosser then you made it out to be. You have got to work on how to describe things." She picked up the rope as Rin and Kojiro had already done and slowly made her way down the slope. The fact that she had no light made it worse as she could only feel the stuff oozing up over her sneakers. 'Great. Not going to be wearing these again.'

"Hey--you didn't fall fifty feet down the Snot Slip'n'Slide."

Isoroku waited until Shiori was about halfway down the rope before beginning his descent. The place hadn't changed much over the past few days, except for being thankfully void of more giant stone arms. Heh. Yeah, he'd shown those suckers what he was all about...

Leviathan subtly agreed.

"Oh, and by the way? It doesn't get any better."

------

Eber led his group, taking Kumiko by the hand while they returned through the yellow-checkered tunnel and the parody of the Victorian home. Shadow-free, of course... They didn't seem to respawn once their nests were taken care of... Now that he thought about it... Either they took a certain period of time to return, or Hikaru and Kurado used alternate entrances or pathways to get to some of these places... Like that room. That room with the repeating man.

Once he reached that door, he hesitated, looking to Kumiko.

"Get behind me, Mizushima-san, just in case."

She immediately complied to the command. Kumiko kept behind him during the approach, peeking over his shoulder in attempt to glimpse of what might be coming. "Be careful..." it was more instruction than a plea. If they needed to run again, she'd make sure everyone ran. Even if she had to pull stubborn Yamada out by his ears. "Hey...You don't think that...thing is going to happen again, do you?"

"Really?" Shiori asked, after she finally hit the bottom of the slope. "You mean there's no Jello slide ahead? Well, that's disappointing. Guess I'll just have to manage." She made her way to where the others were waiting, not wanting to linger in the darkness for too long.

Kojiro lead the party down to the portal. He stood before with a frown on his face. "I hate this thing..." He took the rope off his shoulders and tossed to to Isoroku and Hasegawa. "Secure that to the wall guys. I'll go through first and give three tugs once I get it secured."

Kojiro turned back to the portal and flicked at his AMP, "Hey Seiya-senpai! We're getting ready to go into the portal...Hasegawa-senpai thinks the machines in the factory may be fudging the connection...so we'll see if we can shut it down."

Ishikawa/Yoshida/Junsui/Hasegawa:

Seiya's voice came over the AMP, "Good plan--But if it doesn't work, retreat!"

The way ahead was clear--The only thing through that portal was the factory beyond.

Fridmund/Yamada/Mizushima:

"I am not sure... But perhaps it has played out."

With caution, Eber opened the door to the blank room. His hypothesis had been correct: the scene did not repeat when he stepped inside. Instead, half-formed Shadows in a mockery of the human body dragged themselves up from the cracks in the tiles, fused together at the shoulders and hips.

Shiori caught the rope that Kojiro had tossed and looked for something to tie it to. Settling on an old pipe handle that seemed to loop in and out from the wall, she slid it around the metal, securing the rope with a triple knot.

As she pulled it tight, she gave a call to the leader. "It's all set," she assured him. "Don't do anything too crazy in there, OK?"

Kumiko was very thankful to see those Siamese-Twin like shadows. They were a welcome sight compared to what she was anticipating. But the longer she looked at them, the more freaky they looked. She asked Baldr for assistance and he sprang forth, chuckling as he rained fire down on the closest enemy to Kumiko.
