Should Halo 4 be the last Halo?

i thought 2 should have been the last it was the last one i liked and had a good single player campaign (please don't hate me)
I thought it probably could have ended at 3. The Legendary ending could have just as easily been finished in books or other media.
Suffice to say it will be interesting, as there is no covenant anymore. Hopefully it's not just an endless battle against sentinels and flood, that would suck major balls.

Nah, they're not making ONI. For one they said it would be a new universe and all that. Second, I think 2K holds the ONI IP. Or was it Take2? One of those.
Which is indeed a shame because god knows I would love another ONI. Or ONI being re-released on GoG.com. Hell if Bungie still owned it I'm sure they would have released the source code for it by now, like they did with the Marathon games.
Anyway, right now I don't know. Reach felt like a pretty definitive end for me, what with Bungie finishing the Halo series with it and whatnot. I suppose I'll have to wait and see when I see some gameplay. Or try it out for myself. Or something.

If this was the first time hearing this I would just dismiss it, But I have heard it at least once a month since Halo 4 was announced.

Well, since Halo 4 is part of a new Halo trilogy, it better not fucking be the last Halo game, or it's going to end on an unresolved cliff-hanger.
As far as what SHOULD have been the last Halo game, I'd have to say it should've stopped at Halo 3, because IMO, no game has ever been as good after the third installment (e.g. I loved Spinter Cell, but the last two or huge disappointments).

It depends entirely on how well 343i do with Halo 4.
If they make a fantastic game and bring life back to the series, then definitely go for more games, especially if they can keep it refreshing.
If they make a total bags of it, they can fuck off.
However, we'll have to wait and see, and I dislike the fact that people are already claiming that it will be shit with no prior knowledge to the game whatsoever apart from the fact that it's going to have Master Chief post-massive explosion at the end of Halo 3.

I am perfectly fine with more Halo games, as long as they take the universe in a different direction. For example, an entire game set from The Covenant's point of view, or a game in a similar vein to ODST. I just think continuing Master Chief's story is a bit of a cop out.

Just to build on your idea a little, A game (Or two) set during the Spartans early missions/training would be an interesting take on the universe, heck, you could do a more stealth based game set before the Spartans got their MJOLNIR armour.crepesack said:

I was overjoyed when my Halo playing friend told me that Reach would be the last, then one month later I was made aware of another 3. So, in response to your question, no because by all rights it shouldn't even exist, as Reach was supposed to be the last.
no. reach was the first halo game. and so was halo 3. halo wars was also the first hlo game. halo 1 is the last halo game because its at the end of reach. but then so was halo 2. and halo 3. halo 3: ODST is the last halo game. so far... dundundun!enzilewulf said:
