Their is my question. Should Halo 4 be the last halo. Has the series of games gone on too long? Bungie jumped on with Activision to probably start making another ONI, but will 343 studios be enough to continue the halo universe?
Halo 3 should've been the last Halo. Remember that whole "Finish the fight" sales campaign? Yeah, they were LIES! Bungie sold their soul, and I'm not just saying that because they're successful. I'm saying it because everything after Halo 3 has sucked. Halo 3 would've done just fine with that cliffhanger ending.

Also, new Cortana looks worse than she did in Halo: Combat Evolved. Pitiful.

Seriously people. stop complaining. Halo makes money because it's a series of good games. Who are you to tell people to stop enjoying themselves? and stop blaming Microsoft for making good business decisions.

Well, maybe you shouldn't judge something before you even play it. You know another name for pre-judgement? RACISM

In all seriousness, why not just wait and see how it is?
I am not pre-judjing it. It was a simple question if Halo 4 should be the last halo game.
I was only joking about the racism thing. The comment was more directed at everyone who implied that Halo 4 would be bad, even though the only released press is a cinematic trailer

ODST should have been the last Halo. Reach threw the Halo continuity off a cliff and with the promoted 4-6 trilogy its now going into a giant pit of lava.

I never really got into Halo to begin with, so I'd say not. I played the first 3 and found them highly overrated.

Gotta test the waters and figure out what kind of forums these are and adjust my attitude accordingly, and now to be serious, John-117 isn't gone, and until he is, 343 industries isn't going to stop miling that cow. And i wouldn't have it any other way.
You can like or dislike Halo as much as you want, just don't insult the people that enjoy it. It's not exactly rocket science.

Anyway, I feel the series should have ended with Reach (and this is coming from a fan). Halo 3 was a fitting send-off for the Master Chief, and Reach helped explain the origins of the first game (though I would have preferred it if Bungie hadn't screwed up the preexisting canon established in the novels).

If they insist on making more Halo games, I'd rather they go the route of ODST and Reach and explore the greater universe instead of focusing on just the Chief all the time. The Human-Covenant War lasted a good 20 years or so, providing ample opportunities to explore different aspects of it. Imagine a tactical FPS like Brothers in Arms where you play as a Marine commanding your own squad. Or perhaps a stealth-based game where you play as a Spec Ops Covenant Elite. Or how about taking the flight segment from Reach and extend it into a full-fledged space combat game.

I like the idea of a Tactiacal FPS Halo or even the full-fledged space combat game.

I'm not even a fan of the series, but as long as they keep it fresh and interesting for those that enjoy them, I don't really think hey will stop. Besides, Halo is their biggest money maker, so they aren't going to stop making them anyway. That's like asking Activision to stop making Call of Duty titles.

I think it should of ended at 3 because I though he died. THEN something hit the roof if you say the words "Master chief died" People spam you to many things at one time. Like when I post this.

As long as they make an interesting new story ark for the next trilogy, and continue the fun game-play, why should 4 be the last?

I'm not a big fan of "we should end this now, before it stagnates," mentallity. Might be because I'm a comic nerd. But if a new creative direction wants to take a swing at it, let them. Microsoft has no reason to run their franchise into the ground, I'm pretty sure they've got some creative leads from Bungie at 343 now, and "milking it for all it's worth" isn't a bad mentallity. First off, that means they'll try and release games we want to buy, second, we'll get a few more good Halos before it turns for the worse, third, a gaming company doesn't get shut down and jobs don't get lost, and fourth, if things do start turning south they can learn from that and adapt.

Halo's not dead yet, and it's not going to be for some time. Lets just hope they do what team sonic couldn't and hit that fourth point of mine.

i think Movie bob pointed out an interesting correlation between the perisan wars and the halo games. if 4 takes up that idea and we see the Spartans (sparta) fall into ruin the Unsc (the athenian empire) become the totalitarian empire and the covenant become the down trodden minority(persian remnant states) master chief could wake into a really interesting environment where he is forced to choose between what is right and the Unsc. That would get me back on board the halo train.
