Should I play Arkham Asylum?

Brilliant game, my only complaint is that they ramp up the difficulty in the boss fights by removing the camera rotation which totally throws out my gameplay; that and the fact that it uses save points and there's no save option (I'm a PC gamer in case you couldn't tell) This meant that I ended up doing one boss fight 10 times.

The fact that those are the only faults with the game should be a testament to its awesomeness.

I don't know what the content of the demo is but I've played quite a few demos that were a let down and not representative of how great the full games were (inFamous and Just Cause 2 for example). I can tell that I don't even really give a shit about Batman and I thought Arkham Asylum was close to being one of the most perfect games I've played, so I'd urge you to give it another go.

It is one of mine and my brothers favourite games. I have not heard of anyone not liking Batman: Arkham asylum. You probably don't need to play that to play Batman: Arkham city but it could help you get used to the game mechanics (unless they have radically changed them) and it is a very good game, so it couldn't hurt picking it up, since now you can pick it up quite cheap. You really don't have that much to lose.

I played the demo forever ago and it didn't grab me but everybody says its amazing and Arkham City is coming out now...

I like to play new games (when I can afford it) so I'll probably end up at least trying it. Should I get Asylum before City?
the time it took you to write this question should have been spent playing arkham asylum

its a great game but if you didnt enjoy the whole sneaking around and jumping on gargoyles gameplay, you probably wont enjoy the game and it begs the question, if you werent won over by the first game, why would you want to buy the sequel

my only complaints about the game were that it was kinda short and can get repetitive. still, its one of the better comic book games

Considering City takes place after Asylum I would recommend you play it. If you really can't get into it, but still want to play City then I'm sure you could look up a playthrough on youtube or something.
Ehhh, I don't know. The game ends with the status quo being restored. Not a lot to continue from. Even the bit after the credits was randomized. So, canonically, you can't really continue from that.
Well, there is the one thing:
The final Fight, Joker injects some Titan venom to fight Batman, and it turns out in Arkham City, he's still suffering from the side effects.
As you can see here

Oh for the love of... Of course you should! It's an all-around fantastic game, a *must play* and one of my personals favourites of all time, i doubt you wouldn't like it, unless you hate fun or something.

Yup sums up my thoughts really.

Just being able to plant come C-4 under a gargoyle, wait for a thug, then swoop down to knock him out and tie him up, then wait for his cronies to come investigate, then BAM! goes the C-4. Just awesome.

Or gliding down all iconic-like to kick a thug in the head and proceeding to Batarang and roundhouse kick your way through a large group of thugs in what looks like a choreographed fight (it just looks that good, fluid, and organic).

UI can recommend Arkham Asylum, even if I don't share the enthusiasm many have for it. It's a good game.

For me, the intro was great, and atmospheric, but then, I found the first third of the game quite tedious. After that, it got fun again, right up until one of the worst boss fights ever. Honestly, the End of AA is crap.

So I'm looking forward to AC, but I#m not hyped for it.

Yes. Fantastic game. A perfect 10 in my eyes. Best superhero game made by FAAAAAAR and one of the best games I've played as well.

Well, considering Batman: Arkham Asylum is my 2009 Game Of The Year, I'm going to say
Though I have to warn you; the bossfights are rather crap, except the Poison Ivy one. But good heavens I haven't played a game with more satisfying melee combat. Fucking with Mook's heads never gets dull either.

It's the motherfucking Batman! Why wouldn't you play it!?

*ehem* Get it, fun and I didn't think it to be that long, plus Arkham City takes place after Arkham Asylum.
