For those of you who don't choose to be honest with who they are, why do you hide behind an avatar which is not a picture of yourself? Be honest people, show me who you really are!
to those who are wondering, yes the picture in my profile is me.
Why is having an avatar other than your own photo dishonest? I am completely honest with who I am but my avatars are chosen for certain ideals they represent.

There already was a thread about this. I actually think most of us put up the REAL pictures behind our avatars. Unfortunately being so introverted I don't think you can get us to do that again. Just look up the "Behind the Avatar" thread if you're that interested. ;)

EDIT: but seriously that is me. >>

Just in case you were wondering, I'm the one in the dryer. And the one that edited this attempt at a motivational to correct it.

:O Someone should make a 'suited up' thread with this similar sort of thing in mind. Showcasing all the awesome manly suitedness that we have on the escapist. I'm not starting it though. All my threads die out.
I'd upload a picture of myself to that thread.(I'm sure I could find one)

Would that mean... children would molest you?

My friend, the same argument could be made for screen names/gamer tags...
So let me pose this question to you, "Why don't you use your real name?"
Some people (making a general statement here) prefer to lose themselves in a form of anonymity while on the net.
I am not one of those people, but I do know some who are self conscious about how they look.
This is part of the reason why artists like Lady Gaga have become famous.
She constantly hides her face in some form or another, in order to make a statement how "It doesn't matter what you look like, we're all just human beings/little monsters, and it's how you feel about yourself that matters."
Asking someone to show their face is something of a scary idea to some people (general statement).
You nor I have the right to ask someone to reveal their identity to the world unless they want to!

On Topic: I am to lazy to use an avatar anyway, I do however use my real name as my user name on this site.
Because I'd rather you know me by my name, rather than a picture of me...
Hope this clears up your little debate friend,

Until next time escapists, <3

-Trodo "Trevor" Baggins

P.S. I've been a user on here for a while now, and I always seem to make long general statements on this site trying to use my knowledge of life and recreation in a positive way.
If you like my ideas, feel free to add me "little monsters"...

EDIT: When I say "For a while now" I mean I've come to the escapist as a viewer of videos for well over a year now, but only recently have I decided to join the community as a poster in the forums... Just to clear that up.

Wahts wrong with my picture? Thats just what i have to wear for when i go somewhere where I need a shirt and tie or if i need to make a presentation in my classes.
I'm saying its a perfectly normal and acceptable picture. I was using it as a counterbalance to the other image of the guy enjoying his bong to make the point that even if you looked like a perfectly nice guy, they still wouldn't like you just because you're a gamer. :(
Your family/friends have this degree of dislike toward video games? Sounds remarkably familiar with how my aunt and uncle are. Hell, the latter of the two vocally claimed how disappointing it was someone would waste their life playing video game. The hypocrisy was all the more amusing when he was venturing out to drink for three hours... at 2pm, and aye, he did drive home. My aunt attempted to burn me on my facebook, that did not end well for her. :p

Frankly, my solution was to play more video games simply because I knew it irritated them, and they did that me to enough already. Nevertheless, you should not feel ashamed because you happen to fancy video games. There is nothing wrong with having a hobby, regardless of what it may be.

Because gazing upon the visage of Cthulhu unprotected has driven many a sane man mad.

I jest, of course.

But if you're really that curious...

I'll just direct you to my profile page, which has my face in it. But here's a bigger, if a little unsharp, picture of moi:
Relax ladies, don't be alarmed, yes I'm still single, no need to rush. Erm, ladies? Heeeello? Anyone?

*crickets*

Well so far for that then.
