Why should we get a compensation? We don't pay to have access to PSN. Plus, this kind of thing is bound to happen once or twice a year.

Nah. It happens. We'll live. This whole entitlement thing that just because something went wrong that we're owed something in return is silly, and childish.

If the user is on some form of subscription (Like Netflix, PSN PLUS), Then some form of compensation should be given. Otherwise, no.

No because PSN is free. If this was Xbox Live and you'd shelled out hard cash Microsoft points to play online then yeah you would deserve compensation.

But since this isn't Xbox live: You don't.
Many years ago, that happened when I still had my Xbox 360. Lasted for quite a while if I remember correctly. I was quite pissed that I wasn't able to play Call of Duty 4.

Should we be compensated? No, it happens sometimes, deal with it. would object to it if they offered? of course not.

still, a proper explanation would be nice

Well, the thread title was a little confusing, what with it being rewarded - what would your reward be for? For turning off the PS3 and going outside in the sunshine and topping up your Vitamin D?

Anyway, grammatical ramble aside, I think that there should be some form of compensation out there, dependant upon how long it will take Sony to get the network back up and running. A bit of credit to your account for downloading something wouldn't go amiss, so long as you register your complaint within 2-3 days of PSN coming back on the grid. Hell, you can get some great games on there cheaply, so let's not throw the whole thing overboard, asking for multiple games - just a few pounds each would suffice and if they did it right, they'd probably get more back in from the people using up the credit, just because it's there.

No we shouldn't.

Though, if Sony gave me a free copy of Arcana Heart 3 for this I wouldn't be complaining.

No for two main reasons. 1. outages happen and 2. you don't pay for it they give it to you for free. Why should they compensate you for something you don't have to pay for?

Well i play DcUO so yea i would like some compensation for that, 3 going on 4 days without playing that game when im paying $15 a month for that. And dont forget people who have psplus they are paying a monthly fee for that, so no i dont see why people with dcuo sub. or psplus sub. shouldnt get something for thier time being waisted. People who dont have those sevices no i dont think they need anything they arent paying for anything monthly. And sure people have said "get over it shit happens" but if 360 severs dieded out every single 360 user will flood the internet demanding compensation.

Nope. Since PSN isn't like Xbox live and doesn't charge us...and never has really charged us...(new gold stuff to the side, I don't need to pay to play multiplayer if i don't want)

Why should they reward us for something free going down?

Not really. If it was Live, possibly, considering you have to pay for it. PSN owes you nothing.

People who are paying a subscription for something, say PS+, DCUO etc should recieve some kind of compensation, like add the number of days lost onto the account, or something. They don't owe the free users anything though, other than perhaps people who are completely unable to play a game(Such as MAG, one of those capcom games that won't work without PSN or something).

its 12:08 AM Sunday im very tired but i had a idea for a thread bare with me.

Due to the PSN being down for 3 days or less.

i was thinking Should we be given something as compensation?

and what do you think we should be given.

I would say yes depending on the compensation. I would like a Persona 3 and 4 for PS3 just so i can play it
If Sony is smart they'll make this "compensation" effectively a promotion.

Like a free PSN game, or a free month of PSN+

Something that gives a premium feature for free, but actually may encourage people to pay for that feature in the future.

Just be glad its not xbox live they would probably make YOU compensate them
what does that even mean?

In Soviet Russia, XBOX Live makes you compensate them.
... At least, I think that's what he meant.

To the OP: Methinks you might want to change the word "rewarded" in your subject. Oh wait, you can't.
So... OP: Topic fail. And your "specific" reward doesn't help the post either.

Seriously, though, as to the question itself, even though I myself am a PS+ user & an occasional DCUO player, even I don't expect there will be compensation.

I mean, as a bunch of people here have said, it'd be cool, and I'd LIKE something back for the lost time, but really all I want is the PSN up and running again, a better explanation for the downtime than "external intrusion", and an apology. From anyone.

idk

We just got Blue Toad Episode 1 for free this week. I'm happy.

I think they'll give us something, like a theme, maybe.
I think a theme saying "We're sorry" could be good for laughs, but not necessary.
Really, I'm perfectly happy with PSN, and I have plenty of single player games, so I'm good.

I don't see why you should, it's your own fault for picking PSN
So...you're saying because someone bought a PS3, it's their fault the network went down?
Was it the fault of every xbox owner when LIVE went down around Christmas a couple years ago?

If you pay-you should get extra days
If you don't-to bad
If a F2P MMO went down, they shouldn't need to give everyone a new weapon. Same with PSN.

No - PSN is property of Sony, not gamers; to add to that, I wouldn't be surprised if their EULA says they can have temporary disruptions to service, but having never read it, I wouldn't know. If it has been hacked, which is possible, then the only likely compensation is going to be going to Sony from the hackers and likely meaning the hackers will need to work till they are 510 years old, because that is how long it will take them to pay for the service they have disrupted.

Edit: If its hackers and if they catch them...

This is like saying a hobo should get compensated when he doesn't like the lunch at a shelter.

Its free, stop complaining.

We're customers, not gods that deserve special treatment, you aren't going to get "compensated" just because something went wrong. You lost a few days of gaming, oh noes, go outside, go talk to your friends, READ A BOOK, dear god.

And I'm no grammar nazi by any stretch of imagination but its SHOULD not "shud"

"shud" Isn't even a word as far as I'm aware.
