He bitched about fucking Metroid Prime?!

And only because of the viewpoint?

There can be no redemption for him now.

But seriously, I used to like his reviews (ages ago, got bored though), but...

Gah. I'm out.
Oh that's not all, he claimed Other M was better then Metroid Prime solely because it wasn't in First Person.
But...but...

I already didn't listen to his opinion on games, but that just reaffirms my opinion a million times over.

That is, MovieBob should stick to reviewing movies, and keeps his opinions about games to himself.

Yep, Moviebob thinks everyone should hold the exact same opinion as him and anyone who doesn't is a bastard.

In other news, the sky is blue.
and you respect others opinions that don't align well with your own, right?
like, this very post I quoted? Good. *endless loop of hypocrisy*
I guess we will have this discussion over and over again until we lose all sense of reason and opinion, so the only chance is to either agree, or not to care.
I... Wait, what? I can't tell if you're accusing me of hypocrisy, or agreeing with me.
Both, probably. My point is, we all have opinions, and we DO voice them, no matter what, so your point is somewhat invalidating itself (because the thread is about complaining about MBs opinion), but is also the more or less acceptable standard.

Well, I don't hate Call of Duty games just because they are part of that franchise. It's just that, personally, I'm a guy who likes games for the story, and I've just heard that in CoD, the stories aren't that interesting and the campaigns are far too short. I'm not going to dig into my wallet for a 5 hour campaign, especially when I cou...

Woah, woah, time out for a second. He's saying that the bad guys in Black Ops 2 is the Occupy Wall Street movement? Hmm...

So, let me get this straight, this game will let me shoot occupiers. Yeah...

*facepalm* I know, right? If this is true about the game, I should buy two copies.

I don't like Moviebob and I don't like Call of Duty. Not sure what camp that puts me in.
A pretty rational camp, in my opinion. As I said, I like games, especially shooters, that have an engaging story and campaign. Multiplayer is kind of secondary for me, so Call of Duty never really scratched that itch. That and I like shooting up things in bizarre or fantastical settings. That's probably why I like games Half Life 2 and Bioshock. For multiplayer I prefer things like TF2 and Unreal Tournament. As far as MovieBob, I don't hate him, but when he talks or writes about games he comes off like a jack-ass. He just seems to have a very narrow view of the industry. Most of us are probably more qualified to write about games. Hell, I know we've definitely actually played more of them.

MovieBob has a lot that makes him questionable other than his opinion on a game you like.

Regardless, like any critic, you're best off taking said opinion with a grain of salt. If you don't agree with his opinion, you'll survive, trust me.

Nothing that you say will make him stop so I don't see the point in this. I don't even know why you care or bother to start a thread about it.

Just play CoD. You obviously like it. I don't, and to be honest, I've bashed it around a couple of times. Should that be forbidden? No? Bash away at MovieBobs favorite games. Or at mine. Who cares!

Well, seeing as when he is always going to rant against something, he starts off with somthing like this,

[HEADING=1]FUCK YEAH, BLACK OPS! GET YER' ASS OUT THERE AND PROTECT THOSE JOB-CREATORS![/HEADING]
it kinda makes it clear just what the attitude of the blog/video/article will be.

In fact, I dont watch MovieBob videos that start with an obvious hyperbole like this... unless its about Twilight, than I watch that video because it will amuse me.

Anyways, I once listen to what Bob said, almost like one would watch their favorite TV show religiously. Than his reviews for Scott Pilgrim and The Expendables came out. The latter I enjoyed quite abit, the former I walked out of the theater about halfway through, feeling I was cheated out of my movie ticket. Thats when I realized... he can be pretty dickish to things he doesnt like.

Captcha: don't waste time

You trying to say something here, Captcha?

Bob is, and has always been, a massive, cynical, hipster hypocrite. Really, it saddens me that anyone takes what he says seriously. It's shallow, sensationalist lowest-common denominator "criticism". Even Yahtzee brings more level-headed discussion to the table. Fuck, the Jimquisition is infinitely more valuable and deep, which I personally find hilarious due to my first impressions of the show.

As time goes on, you'll realise that Bob just bashes things that are popular because that's the cool thing to do.

Fixing the title: Sick of MovieBob Bashing Call of Duty?
Jim totally rubbed me the wrong way when i first listened to him, but, turns out it's just humor and flavor.
He actually can get you to think on the subject he is doing.

Bob is an idiot who bashes things (be it movies or games) just because...
Funny thing, I was in the same camp as you when I first watched Jim. It wasnt until his videos about art games that I realized its all really bad humor, but with some good points to start one thinking.

You're probably not the ONLY one, but I'm certainly not sick of it.

The sooner the Call of Duty bubble bursts, the better!

Aside from the actual repeated bashing of always decent game series (despite the fact that it has fun = to about 20-30$ not 60$ and fuck dlc) I'm more tired of so many facets of this site and the gaming community in general being so pretentious. "Oh look at me, I hate this game because it encourages war AND it doesn't add anything to medium, (God I'm sick of that phrase) look at how intelligent I am and how much class I have."

Opinions. Opinions everywhere.

It's just a game. Who gives two shits what people think. Like it? Keep playing. Don't? Don't play it. But most of all, just don't take anything on the internet seriously. Except porn.

I do. In fact, I couldn't give any less of a damn about the multiplayer.

The main reason I played the MW series is to see the resolution of Soap and Captain Price's story. And I think it was nicely written, believe it or not. The mission 'Blood Brothers' made my eyes water, for reasons you'll know if you've played the game.

I can't think of any other recent game that made me actually sad about a character's demise (besides, maybe, Mass Effect 3). Actually, I'd even go as far to say that the campaign mode of the MW series is underrated, if you'd just put your irrational hate for CoD aside and let the game impress you and tell you its story and what it has to say.

I'm sick of Moviebob in general.

The idea of "I'm right and if you don't agree you are an idiot who bullies people and watches micheal bay and should be ashamed of yourself you teenage douche!" makes me want to just punch him.

Also I'm more tired of him bashing Halo or bashing games HE HASN'T FUCKING PLAYED
He also seems to be really striving to be the american Yahtzee. He can say what he likes about CoD, it's the shitty brown fps to end all shitty brown FPS's, but I can't trust the opinion of anyone who thought that Schumachers Batman was better than tim burtons. They were both shit, but really?

I find his biased hatred a bit hard to swallow at times (all the times), it has an audience that likes what it is, just because it doesn't tick all the boxes for you doesn't mean it's bad. Sure it's bad when everyone seems to follow in its step to try and compete with it, so we end up with a million clones, all not better than the original (it's like MMO's trying to usurp WoW).
It doesn't tick my boxes personally as I don't connect with American shooters, I can fathom that if you are an American it probably would, even if it were Aussie troops I could care less.

Although I do find the brown a grey arguement really irritating. Open up your damn eyes and you'll see the broader colours, or what theyre trying to convey with a limited palette. Even then there's other things like material details, audio, reflections, etc. Not every game needs to be a technicolour stoner dream.

But I can't say that I'm unbiased either as opposed to Bob I loathe Nintendont. I don't care if they've been in development longer than others it's not an excuse to rest and stop trying new things. They've got the resources and the rabid fanbase, they should use their brand name to sell products as opposed to branded franchises.
Seriously I stopped buying Nintendo games when I came to the realisation that I had already played them. If your going to repeat gameplay, at least give me a different asthetic, characters or story.

No, but I am sick of him whinging about sport games. Unlike CoD, the complaints he makes against those are entirely fictional bullshit that only proves he doesn't actually play the things. The only reason no ones calls him on it is that this is a gaming forum full of people who don't play them either because they hate sports. Seriously, all it took was listening to a friend who plays them talk about what he was looking forward to in new installments (here's a hint: it wasn't roster updates) to demonstrate how utterly ignorant his whole argument is.

Untrue. Having an issue with jingoistic fellatio is not "anything that shows the military in a positive light" not "sitting well with Bob."

Anyway, you've discovered Bob's shtick. Pick something he doesn't like and look for ANY possible reason to dig at it.

...I WAS going to assume that you were being sarcastic, but...

He never said that. He said that HE LIKED Other M better than Metroid Prime because of the gameplay difference. He never said that the Metroid Prime series was bad because of the First-Person aspect, he just preferred Other M's style. Heck, I preferred Other M's gameplay (not story) to Prime's. Are you going to bash me? It's just an opinion, get over it.

OT:

He has also stated multiple times that he thinks Call of Duty IS a good game. He just prefers, well, Nintendo and NES-style products. He even devoted an entire episode where he compared New Super Mario Bros. Wii to Modern Warfare 2 (I think) and said that they shared MANY similarities.

Does he have a political bias? Yes, so does everyone else in the world. Why are you surprised by posts like that? It's his shtick when he isn't making his three internet shows. Heck, he did an American Bob like show earlier this year. If you don't like reading his political posts, DON'T.

Might as well chime in, since everyone else is doing it.

I don't mind someone making points against Call of Duty. I do mind when someone harps on a game that hasn't even come out yet. I don't plan on buying Blops 2. The games from Treyarch always seems contrived, tongue-in-cheek, and overall (at least to me) mean-spirited. The original CoD games were rather gritty and realistic. The recent games, for being touted as "realistic military shooter", are anything but. Bob can complain, *****, and insult call of duty all he wants, but I won't pay attention unless he has a truly valid complaint. Well, that's actually not *entirely* true.

To those who have said "ignore him if you don't like him", I would, but there is a slight problem with him. In the Internet, thing have become inter-connected. You can not know someone on the Internet, but you can know certain shows they've watched. like it or not, Moviebob's show DOES get views, and it does change, or at least meld, the minds of those who watch him. I could ignore him, but then I encounter people who haven't just not ignored him, but also use his same flawed arguments. This isn't me liking what he dislikes, and vice versa. I don't like call of duty, and I feel he's hating it because he feels it's justified. I'm not bitching about him disliking something, I'm bitching about him disliking something with flawed reasoning, and having a media outlet that can fuck with the minds of people. He can have his views, and I can criticize said views. I'm not calling for his videos to be shut down, but rather he know that he's not being correct argumentatively.
