Watching the trailor, it's hard to tell anything about what the game is actually about(Granted, every CoD game seems to do that), but moviebob seems to be just going off on a limb and accusing of being some kind of anti-liberal propaganda piece.

I realize Moviebob doesn't play these games because if he did he'd know that the trailor usally never tells you anything about what the game is actually about(other then stuff blows up). He'd also know that at one point, the series was very cynical and anti-war(around the point MW came out) and World at War could have easily been called "World of Warcrimes". The original games were pretty good for balancing a feeling of being part of a team in a much larger effort and being important enough to that effort to give a shit. And since it was WW2, you could get away with being a little bit patriotic.

I personally have my own beefs with the series, but mostly that the content to presentation ratio which used to be so carefully balanced has fallen way out of whack in favor of presentation and Black Ops was by far the worst offender. Some of the cool stuff, like the SR-71 mission, felt more like a gimmick then innovative and the final few missions felt very, very old style James Bond-ish and way over the top(and then there's the whole "THE ENTIRE US NAVY greets you at the end of the final mission" thing. Score one for plausible deniability, guys). That and apparently the idea of the plot following a logical sequence seems to go away towards to end, where suddenly, the plot skips from S to Z without bothering with the intervening plot points(I'm looking at you, third act of MW3).

If there's something you don't like, just avoid it. I personally don't give a shit about the CoD games, so I don't play them, pay any attention to them, just kinda try to forget about them. I also don't go to Moviebob for gaming advice. I found out what his opinions are regarding 3D Metroid games, found them completely opposite to my own, and decided to never listen to his gaming opinions again. I'd recommend you do something similar.

Am I the only one getting tired of hearing MovieBob constantly bash the Call of Duty franchise? After reading his latest post on his blog, it?s become extremely apparent that he?s simply looking for any excuse to take pot-shots at the games. Apparently anything that shows the military in a positive light doesn?t sit well with Bob. What is really ironic is that Bob has stated before that games need to have political controversy, and not be judged negatively for it if the medium is to grow. Yet Call of Duty comes along and might have a political message (we know for sure until the game is actually released) and Bob is trying to crucify the game because it doesn?t agree with his viewpoints and opinions. What?s the message that Bob is trying to get across? That it?s okay to have a political message only if MovieBob agrees with it?

It's not so much that it's because it's a military game or that it "shows the military in a positive light" as you put it... I think it's more to do with the fact that the games in the series have never shown any real innovation. It's always the same basic concept. You're going into a war zone, probably with bum orders by some corrupt higher-up. You shoot a whole bunch of nameless NPCs and a few plot specific characters, etc.
There's hardly any point in playing the single-player mode. In some cases, the developers only force you to play it through once (and it's usually only 8-20 hours of gameplay) just to unlock multiplayer.
Now, I can't speak for everyone, but I don't personally see the point in paying ~£50 to get a game that I play for so-n-so hours, only to get given a mode that consists of a few maps for you to run around in getting killed by a bunch of people with no lives who play it 24-7 so they can have the top scores on a scoreboard, a feat that ultimately accounts to nothing worthwhile in life.

All in all, I'd say MovieBob has every right to bash such a boring tribulation of a game. If you don't like it, don't watch his videos...

Im sure everyone has done their fair share of call of duty bashing, be it here or on youtube.

Seems to me OP you're just looking for an excuse to start a "Lets Hate On Bob!" thread.
I'm not quite sure it's possible to bash MovieBob enough actually.

I think Bob can think and say whatever the fuck he wants, as long as it's not a personal attack towards anyone. You could sit here and complain how a certain blogger or video artist does something wrong, or you could:
1. Make your own, voicing your own opinions, to help you cope with others
2. Go and watch someone who you agree with
3. Just live with it

I don't have a problem with voicing your opinion, but going out of your way to start a conversation, so you can bash a person not even present in the conversation? Sounds kind of pointless to me.

You could just not read his blog if it upsets you this much. It's his opinion that the series is jingoistic trash (Which it pretty much is, although BlOps2 does seem to be branching out a wee bit). I read his post and I didn't see that much in the way of bile throwing (Not nearly as much as the op is slinging around); he was reasonable and calm in his evaluation of the trailer. But even if he wasn't what difference does it make?

Why do you even care?
Exactly this. In other news, Trent Reznor is scoring this game. How interesting.

I enjoy playing CoD, as I enjoyed Battlefield 3, Darksiders, Spec Ops: the Line, Super Meat Boy, Limbo, Sonic Generations, etc,. etc.. The point that I am making is that my gaming taste is very broad, and if I enjoy a game, I won't be enjoying it less because some internet celebrity says that I shouldn't. And I am not a stereotype CoD player who plays FPS games and ONLY FPS games.

It's okay to enjoy CoD and you shouldn't let your personal enjoyment be detrimented by others.

A tip to teh OP: Your thread title? Its confusing. If this was a question, you should have phrased it "Are you sick of MovieBob bashing Call of Doody?" (I ARE SO MATURE!) If it wasn't, it is, "I am sick of MovieBob basing Cock of Dodo". (STILL MATURE!)

There. I shall leave the thread to the inevitable flame war.

Have you seen the videos and posts he's made where he praises the military and the people in it?

MovieBob doesn't have a problem with the military, he has a problem with the way the military is worshiped in the US. Call of Duty has, from what I've heard, had a history of worshiping the military, and has earned a great deal of scorn from those who dislike that sort of thing.

I'm sick of pretty much this entire site bashing on Call of Duty. Some people just like feeling that their own personal taste is the "right one" and other people's are "wrong", and therefore they can be judgemental. It's the way of the internet. I don't care. I stopped listening to Moviebob's hipster rants a long time ago. I have more fun playing the games than I'm sure he does bashing them.
Well, most people who bash Call of Duty actually haven't played a COD game in a long time.

The fact is this thing is so popular that they bash it for fun, and sometimes use it as metaphor for the whole AAA game industry.

And Bob is a huge douche.
My problem with CoD (although i have only played is CoD 4, which i liked even if i was bad at it) is what it stands for. I'm not saying it's a bad game.

...Am I bored of it... Nope.

Then again I don't care about COD. Nor do I care much for others opinions of my favorite past times and getting riled up by people like that makes you troll bait.

...

Get over it. Watch something else. There's so MUCH on the internet to diffuse your rage on.

Moviebob is right about CoD. I have no clue as to whether he has bashed Halo. Halo is my grand game. Who insults me or it has stepped into the wrong territory. Prepare for Arrows in Knees.

I don't like CoD, just not for the reasons MovieBob dislikes it.

I really really liked Call of Duty 4, it was brilliantly paced. The problem was the sequels went totally over the top and insane yet still took itself too seriously.

Multiplayer of COD4 was fun for a while, till you realise how broken the mechanics are and fundamentally so. The aim-down-sight of such powerful and accurate weapons, relatively slow movement speed and crap hipfire favours camping too much. And the spawn system destroys any kinds of aggressive tactics as you wander into an area only for someone to spawn right behind you and shoot you in the back.

The military theme means nothing to me now, I neither dislike it not attracted to it. I DO have an interest in guns but CoD is weak-sauce when it comes to gun porn. And th weapons variety is and has always been crap. All of the games, the weapons are too similar with annoying differences.
