Want it to be direct? I can't make a long logical argument because many others have already have and far better than I ever could and you'll merely respond "My opinion bro." Then my opinion is an opinion without a reason to support it, is not an opinion that one should hold.

It seems to be the new trend that makes people think they are smarter than the population because they do not like Transformers films.

I am sick of being told I and all my friends are 13 year olds

And what bugs me the most

is that most of these people like a movie such as Watchmen and hold it in high esteem. It's ironic that these people say Transformers Dark of the moon has no plot because Watchmen is 2 hours and 10 minutes of pointless, uninformative backstory for characters we don't care about (Ironically the most interesting character gets less backstory) and 30 minutes worth of actual storyline - a mediocre one at that.

I am still convinced these are the people who grew up with Transformers cartoons.

ps. I am by no means saying these films are perfect.
I grew up on transformers cartoons, specifically beast wars. The transformers movies are all good, dark of the moon is great. Although it would been better with Makayla still in it. The new girl might be a better actress, but there is no emotional investment like there was with Makayla. Makayla had flaws and a backstory and a character. The new girl is just: Hey look she's sexy. Not any flaw of the new actress, we had 2 movies to grow invested in Makayla and her relationship with Sam, we don't have that for the blonde.

Back on topic. I love the transformers movies, they're great movies with an interesting plot and great characters that we are invested in.

Transformers 1 was watchable, though not something worth seeing twice. Transformers 2 had me cringing about 90% of the time. Transformers 3 wasn't that bad, though. Some parts just SCREAMED "Michael bay made this movie," and there was definitely too much focus on the humans, but all in all I liked it.

TF1: C
TF2: D-- (Only above an F because it does technically qualify as a film)
TF3: C+ or B- depending on my mood.

Obvious troll is obvious.

I would have believed you if you just said you liked Transformers. I guess I can understand that even if I'm confused by it, but when you go comparing it to Watchmen then I have to call shenanigans. The closest thing they have in common is Transformers neglecting the actual Transformers as opposed to Watchman where the most interesting character gets the least amount back story. Those are two entirely different cases though. So I can't actually say you are genuine and if you are then I feel bad for you.

another insult. You guys are amazingly predictable. And i did not compare the two films. It's just generally the people who act out like this are the ones who luuuuuuuurve watchmen because its so intelligent and all i saw in that was a film with ridiculous or uninteresting characters for the most part, and a story that could have started and resolved in 10 minutes.
I never insulted you. I didn't say "WOW, you are really dumb for liking Transformers 3 and not liking Watchmen!" I said that I didn't believe you and that I feel deeply sorry for your inability to know a good movie from a bad movie. So if you felt insulted at all, I sincerely apologize.

To quote MovieBoB:

"I've seen shitty movies based on the life of Christ, I've seen brilliant films based on a guy who dresses up as a bat and beats people up at night because he misses his mommy".

Something or other about dubious source material not being an excuse for bad film-making, he goes more in-depth here: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/escape-to-the-movies/797-Transformers-Revenge

That rant is basically every reason why they judge you the way they do.
Bob thinks the resident evil movies are getting better and that iron man 2 was good. Plus again he is one of those who point at watchmen. and his first review of the original transformers pretty much tells you everything you need to know about him. Besides the fact he wished he was more like yahtzee.
Taking things a bit out of context. Yes, he did say that RE was getting better but it's hardly an accomplishment considering the series has been mostly crap. Yes, he did say that Iron Man 2 was good, but he never worshipped it or compared it to Dark Knight, "Not perfect, but plenty of room to expand and improve", which I agree with. What do you mean points at watchmen?

Yes, the TF2 review was a lot of fanboy rage, but he accurately listed all the things that were wrong with the movie. Way too many human characters flowing in and out, too much emphasis on them and the army guys over the actual robots, unfollowable plot and a waste of interesting source material. He's opinionated, as is almost every honest film critic, but more often than not he backs up his criticisms.

Your saying that if we like Transformers and DONT like watchmen our brains dont function at the level of yours.. your derogatory remarks are pathetic and your attempt to make them seem okay is banal.

I like transformers, I thought watchmen was very very average and probably will never watch it again.
I enjoy all kinds of films, some more heavy than others and some with more meaning than others.

It's mostly Movie-Bob fans that subscribe to his opinion of it and feel that makes them intelligent and cultured. Get your own damn criticisms, people!

In fact: I'm reminded of how certain words become "fashionable" to say on these forums and come up in waves, like "Pretentious" goes from being rarely-used (Now) but a month ago it was used every thread. I said discussion value in a post and further down the thread someone just coincidentally ended up using the same phrase as me.

We mimic opinions endlessly.

I don't think not liking the Transformers movies has anything to do with "being smarter than those who don't". I think it's just that they aren't good movies. :/

I didn't dislike the new Transformers movie. I didn't really LIKE it either. It was just there. I can't really recommend it, nor will I tell anyone to not see it.

But, I really want to get this off my chest. In the third act. You know when they take over a city. The Decepticons just appear in the city. Where was the attack? Where was the army descending on the city? Rising from the water? Transforming from taxi cabs? ANYTHING! It just seemed like they were there the whole time before hand and everyone was just too polite to mention the huge alien armada hovering about the city not doing anything.

At one point, we're made aware that the Autobots have been captured. But when were they captured? You barely saw them fight. One minute Bumblebee saves Sam and the next time we see him, he and the others were captured. What the Hell? When did this happen? Why couldn't we be allowed to see this fight? It was just annoying. How does a major event just happen off-screen?

Also, Starscream deserved better! That is all.

Yeah, these things pretty much kept me from considering it a decent movie. That may seem petty, but that's how I feel.

Transformers was far from a great trilogy of movies but I'll be damned if I didn't enjoy them. I had all sorts of fangasms when I heard they were coming and continued them while watching (nostalgia does not make me a retard). I don't go into every movie or game looking for the new human revolution or some great revelation everytime, sometimes I just wanna see things explode. My only complaints for these movies has to be, Too centered around people, Love interest... Why?
Yay American ending.

pps I am also not saying you cannot like this film because that is ridiculous, but aparently it does not work the other way around. Like this film and you are a F student waiting to man the assembly line.
Sigh

Look. The Transformers movies are mindless, have no plot, and are essentially military porn (thanks to Bay's contract with the U.S Army).

I'm not calling you or your friends 13, but those movies are pretty much crap.
The Watchman was bad, but only because it was a word by word (scene by scene) adaptation of the graphic novel (with the tweaked ending of course).

However, Transformers is still worse than the Watchmen. Now, as to your point about individuals vs the population: the general population made shows like Flavor of Love and the Jersey Shore popular. Trying to say that something is good because it's popular is like saying anything covered in candy will be delicious.

If you enjoy the movies, that's fine. We all need some mindless entertainment now and then. You are just going to have to accept that people believe (and somewhat rightfully so) that they are utter shit.

Take it in stride and carry on because we (at one point or another) like something that everyone else thinks is retarded.

I agree with your point I've been in similar spots for disliking certain movies, Watchmen being on of them. I think the Transformer movies are crap but your allowed to like them, I know I have a soft spot in my heart for several crap movies myself.

OP has a point. I like the transformers movies because i go to see robots fighting because of some paper thin plot and its what I get every time. Everyone else hates it because it has not plot. Now i'm left here wondering if the plots really that important. If its cool and entertaining i'll watch the crap out of it.

Example? Monster trucks smashing things.

You must think you're so cool. You can go on the Internet under an anonymous guise and say "herp a derp I like Transformer 3, why does everyone gotta hate on my opinion, Watchman's greatness is over exaggerated, duuuhr." Well, thats all nice and trollish, but I've heard more bashing of Watchman then explaining why you actually like Transformers 3.

The Transformers films are, well, crap, but I enjoy them. Sure, it's not the Transformers I know and love (Murder Prime) and even then they aren't the main characters (Or even characters at all). Most of the comedy falls flat and one-dimensional stereotype characters annoy the hell out of me (What did you do to Wash!?), but the confusing action scenes and hammy "serious" parts are Michael Bay gold. I personally thought Dark of the Moon was enjoyable, sure it didn't make any damn sense, but we got to see Opti-I mean Murder Prime "kill them all".

Also, Watchmen was awesome, not nearly as awesome as the comic, but awesome.

It needed more giant squid.

Transformers 1 and 3 were both really awesome. I LIKED how to movies were about the human characters, cus the movie would be not be relatable if robot aliens fought each other for the fate of robot world and the only purpose of earth would be an arena for some random alien smackdown. Also, Watchmen was really, really boring. You're given so much useless information for lame characters and there were only like 2 action sequences in the whole movie.

So you like Transformers 3 because Watchmen wasn't perfect???

I'd love to see a flow chart or some shit on how in the hell any decent argument between those two can be formed.

I don't like the Transformers movies because the human characters take up 90% of the films and are still pointless toward the plot.
