I fucking hate Transformers 2, and Transformers (One) was a 3-out-of-five guilty pleasure, but I had fun watching Transformers 3.

It's not a good film, or even a decent film, but I enjoyed watching it because it blowed stuff up real good when it finally delivered its payoffs (which were less broken-up than the previous films').

Also, if you're offended by what someone said, lighten up. It's one person's opinion, and they decided to make some inflammatory hyperbole to enhance their statement and further prove how vehemently they dislike the film. Unless you're the world's biggest Bayformers fanboy, and have some sort of personal connection to the films (in which case you probably deserve the insults), don't take what people don't explicitly mean about you so goddamned seriously.

Whoa, aggressive much. I can sort of see where you're coming from, I get frustrated when "feminists" tell me I hate my own gender because I liked Sucker Punch, but seriously? Get used to it and suck it up. You'll always have to deal with others criticisms, even if you like Citizen Kane. Enjoy your movies your way, and don't let anyone else tell you what you like or what "sucks".

Transformers 1 and 3 were both really awesome. I LIKED how to movies were about the human characters, cus the movie would be not be relatable if robot aliens fought each other for the fate of robot world and the only purpose of earth would be an arena for some random alien smackdown. Also, Watchmen was really, really boring. You're given so much useless information for lame characters and there were only like 2 action sequences in the whole movie.
I swear I'm starting to question whether there are wrong opinions because this is just a maddening thread. Maybe, it does have something to do with IQ. I didn't think Watchmen was that hard to understand. It could be a maturity thing for certain people. Then again, many people have many opinions. Some opinions are just shit. I think Yahtzee or Moviebob said something along those lines.

Please point out where I said Watchmen was hard to understand. I said it was boring and lame. So are you implying that only stupid people find things to be boring and lame?

Although they might be going a bit far, they have good reason for scolding you for liking Transformers 3. It's a mindless, derelict wreck of a movie which deserves no praise. In fact, you could rename it to "America's military! FUCK YEAH! co-starring the transformers" and it would make no difference. Sure, not all movies need to be smart, but transformers: DSOTM doesn't even hold up as a bad movie, or a mindless movie even. It's a completly pointless, mindless, piece of shit which deserves no praise at all. It doesn't even feature the transformers are more then semi-main characters bordering on side characters.

is that most of these people like a movie such as Watchmen and hold it in high esteem. It's ironic that these people say Transformers Dark of the moon has no plot because Watchmen is 2 hours and 10 minutes of pointless, uninformative backstory for characters we don't care about (Ironically the most interesting character gets less backstory) and 30 minutes worth of actual storyline - a mediocre one at that.
Can I make a note here?
Watchman HAD a plot, none of the backstory was pointless, and it was all quite informative.

I don't think you can love both of these movies at the same time. Even thinking about it now they're utterly different films. Watchmen was less of a super hero action movie and more about ideals and morality, while transformers was well, transformers. I don't mean to degrade the people that like transformers more (although it definitely sounds like it), but they're each aspiring to incredibly different ideals so the fans of either of them would contrast.

..Have you seen Transformers 3? Megan Fox was kicked out of the franchise and all of that could be said about 1 and 2.

That movie was entertaining, I am satisfied with that. If anyone else wanted more that is their problem.

Also,
the Optimus fighting sentinel, fighting megatron scene was totally awesome

No, I think Transformers is boring and lame and I am certainly not stupid. I'm saying genius movies like Watchmen can't be understood by stupid people and so the stupid people find it boring and lame because it didn't have an explosion every minute. They don't understand any deeper meaning to it and they just don't get it. Great movies don't need action to be great.

Megan fox has been so pushed to the forefront of 1 and 2 I had momentairly forgotten she was not, in fact, in 3. Post is now edited.

I grew up with the toys. And cartoons. I enjoy the movies. I could do worse for myself than watch them.

And boy those cartoons were terrible.

Would you prefer I insult you directly? Because I can do that, too. I'm actually pretty damn good at it.

I don't think you are stupid and immature for liking that movie. I just think the movie itself is stupid and immature. Everyone is entitled to like a few really awful movies and some that are considered by everyone to be bad. I for one love Equilibrium and the Boondock Saints and enjoyed watching Postal and you just can't find one good thing about Uwe Boll's Postal. That said I thought Rampage was rather good.

But like I said. The movies are a stupid bunch of exploitation flicks of hot girls, fast cars and giant robots, they're offensive and racist, the comedic relieve and tonal shifts are hamfisted, but if you like them, that's your decision and you have the right to enjoy a movie against the general consensus about it.

Just don't listen to them, if they don't like it, fine, you're being the better man (or woman) in this situation if you don't insult him back. Not everyone will like what you like, and you won't always like what everybody else likes, as long as you ignore them and don't say anything back, your the better person, they're the ones being immature about it, if they're gonna call you a 13 year old for liking something, then they should be called 13 year olds for insulting someone because they like something you don't.

I don't recall calling you stupid and I apologize if that's what you inferred. Anyway, if you like total narrative heavy movies like Watchmen or Titanic that's fine. But don't judge people to be unintelligent because they dislike those types of movies. It would be like accusing all people who dislike horror films of being scared and cowardly.

It wasn't very tactful for you to fire back with "Oh yeah, well I bet you like Watchmen, everyone knows that movie was crappy!" What makes you better than the people that say shit about transformers fans?

It seems to be the new trend that makes people think they are smarter than the population because they do not like Transformers films.

I am sick of being told I and all my friends are 13 year olds

And what bugs me the most

is that most of these people like a movie such as Watchmen and hold it in high esteem.

I am still convinced these are the people who grew up with Transformers cartoons.

ps. I am by no means saying these films are perfect.

pps I am also not saying you cannot like this film because that is ridiculous, but aparently it does not work the other way around. Like this film and you are a F student waiting to man the assembly line.

I don't think it's right that people are insulting because you liked Transformers 3.

But if you're too bogged down by pointless backstory for unlikeable characters I think you're better off sticking to the less complicated much shinier movies that are more apt to hold your attention than Watchmen.

I liked Watchmen, not my favorite movie, but by no means bad.

As for Transformers, I enjoyed the first one and the second one was so-so for me (and I haven't seen the third one). I knew Transformers, but I wasn't a huge fan of the original series (toys mostly, and a few episodes of Beast Wars). So I went in with general knowledge and looked forward to a nice movie, which I pretty much got in the first film. I haven't watched it since I saw it in theaters, but I liked the characters (Sam and the main Miltary guy, mostly the Military guy) and I liked seeing the realistic-esque CGI gaint alien Robots fighting, it was quite cool.

Insulting people for liking different things doesn't really prove much (except to certain degrees. You call someone "off" for liking to eat dirt instead of sandviches, or liking Justin Bieber or reading books by Richard Knaak or enjoying the character of Keenan Crier/Ikuto from Digimon). Other then that, its really just personal opinion.

Ps. I liked Ironman 2, one of my favorite superhero movies. Tony Stark is just such an enjoyable character to read/watch and Robert Downey Jr really makes a great Stark.

I saw the new Transformers movie with my girlfriend. It was actually a great movie and was the best of the series, though some of the humor they try to put into it is pretty dry.

i've never thought of it that way but yes i do consider my self smarter than people who spend $13 to see another crap-tastic transformers movie.
and i think you have "pointless, uninformative backstory" and complex narrative confused
