I happened to have invented a fool-proof system when dealing with people like this.

Step 1). Hold hands out in front of you. (to make sure you still have them)
Step 2). Put hands over ears.
Step 3). As loud as you can shout, "lalalalalalalala!"
Step 4). Run away to someplace free of the non-believers.

You're welcome. You are now free to enjoy whatever your heart desires.
This method also works when dealing with Jehovah's witness, members of the opposite political parties, Axl Rose, and many more....call toll free now and get your free instructional booklet today!

Unfortunately, people judging other people for what they like is a part of life, it doesn't matter what it is, someone out there will think you're a lesser person for liking something.

Best thing to do is to just let it go, and realize that the person "the judger" does not really fully comprehend things like "taste" and "subjectivity".

It seems to be the new trend that makes people think they are smarter than the population because they do not like Transformers films.

I am sick of being told I and all my friends are 13 year olds

And what bugs me the most

is that most of these people like a movie such as Watchmen and hold it in high esteem. It's ironic that these people say Transformers Dark of the moon has no plot because Watchmen is 2 hours and 10 minutes of pointless, uninformative backstory for characters we don't care about (Ironically the most interesting character gets less backstory) and 30 minutes worth of actual storyline - a mediocre one at that.

I am still convinced these are the people who grew up with Transformers cartoons.

ps. I am by no means saying these films are perfect.

pps I am also not saying you cannot like this film because that is ridiculous, but aparently it does not work the other way around. Like this film and you are a F student waiting to man the assembly line.

you know while I dont' think it's funny that you like transformers I DO think it's funny that other people think it's funny that you like transformers. why? because I play neopets and nobody has EVER made fun of me for it. I'm 19. the best part is even neopets has more compelling stories than watchmen.
More com... pffft, dammit, I'm really REALLY trying hard not to laugh...
glad I could help you get a quick laugh out of this at my expense.
even funnier. I'm DEAD serious. I'm not saying the plot events are good. just that they're better than watchmen. well at least one of them i can think of is.

In other words I'm not complimenting neopets but rather I'm insulting watchmen.

You're gonna have to face it: Transformers is not Vertigo. Or anywhere close to Hitchcock. No where close to Lucas or Spielsberg for that matter, and they raped their best movies.
If you like watching flashing lights, that's fine, but some people like to be well read in cinema. They will tend to look down on a movie they deem to have just been made to cash in and "exploit" their beloved medium.
Also when the hour-and-a-half flashy light-athon consistantly out sells the art house movies, Hollywood will continue to make more and more flashy lights and less art houses for the film students. That's when the flm students get pissed. That's part of the reason why I hate going to the movies now.

What I'm trying to say is if you like it that's fine. I love the Rush Hour movies and they weren't winning any awards. But there's also some industry politics behind it and some people are going to hate that movie for their own reasons.

another insult. You guys are amazingly predictable.
I detect hypocrisy!

Also it looks like people on both side of this exchange are really unhappy about somebody on the internet not agreeing with their opinion which can only lead to madness.

This is substantial proof that this movie is rubbish.

It reuses footage from an older Michael Bay film.

Plagiarism much?
Am I the only person that thinks "wow, that looks awesome", it really appeals to my inner child.

Is it really plagiarism when its Michael Bay stealing Michael Bay's idea's?, can he like, sue himself?

I really don't agree with everyone arguing over subjective opinions like they are facts.

Then stop climbing on top of buildings to proclaim your love for Transformers 3? I don't know. People tend not to give a shit what other people think until they go and make a spectacle of themselves, just look at the fans of the Twilight saga. If it's a guilty pleasure or you "just happen to like it" then there's really no reason for you to exonerate yourself in my presence (although I'll admit I'm flattered by the concept), much less an internet forum.

I've never really been interested in the Transformers cartoons as a kid, nor the movies as an adult. Sure, I accompanied a few friends to them over the weekend for my "Summer Action flick" fix, but it's not like I had any nostalgic investment in them. They were just explosion scenes interlaced with a few plot threads, nothing else (to me). It was Skyline [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyline_%28film%29] (2010) from the perspective of the invading alien robots and their compromised human sidekicks.

That's my viewpoint of the franchise, at least. You're welcome to your own, but now you have a little back story to my confusion over why people keep bickering about "Transformers this" and "Transformers that" on the internet. C'mon people, this is some really petty stuff right here. Wouldn't our collective time be better spent arguing over the more important things in life, such as whether the Xbox 360 is better than the Playstation 3, Cthulhu vs. Gamera, or Who would win in a fight between Mercury and Hercules?

Elitists, nothing more.

The reasons against the film are just as valid as they are wrong.

Seriosuly, fuck those guys. Elitist douchebags annoy me so much. I liked the first Transformers, the second one not so much, and I intend to see Transformers 3, though not in cinemas.

People just like to ***** because it's not all poignant. Yes, the plotlines aren't great, but I thought they were alright. Nothing to write home about, but they weren't terrible. But apparently these days having opinions contrary to what other geeks think is taboo.

Let's put it this way, what you just said is the musical equivalent of saying Justin Biebr is better than Dream Theater.

It's your opinion, and if you enjoy it then, go watch it again instead of watching Watchmen. Good thing about the world today is that there is enough variety of any material to suit any taste.

It's hard to argue your taste is "wrong" because... it's a taste. People like whatever they like. It is, however, extremely hard to take you seriously. Take that for what it is.

I haven't seen the new Transformers yet, but I will do. I loved the first and second, it's great. Watchmen however I think was horrible. It was boring as hell and made no sense, because honestly I just didn't care about anyone in that film.

Transformers is fun. It isn't meant to be anything except that.

Hey, it's your opinion, and I respect that (hell, I really liked the first movie, can't say much for the sequels, though...), but some people just don't understand the meaning of the word "opinion"...

OP has a point. I like the transformers movies because i go to see robots fighting because of some paper thin plot and its what I get every time. Everyone else hates it because it has not plot. Now i'm left here wondering if the plots really that important. If its cool and entertaining i'll watch the crap out of it.

Example? Monster trucks smashing things.

That's what YouTube is for.

These are feature length films. If I'm going to sit down for 90 minutes then I want reasonable back story otherwise it has no meaning. And here we're talking about films more than 2 hours long and instead of a story we're get the US Military butt-slapping eachother for 90 minutes.

If these movies had no plot apart from giant robots come shit explodes I'd almost agree with this idea. But Transformers includes tacked on shitty side plots about Shia Laboufe and his dumb girlfriends and bizarre diversions into hack political drama. Why?

This is what the plots of Transformers movies should be: Bad robots arrive, Good robots come to stop them, some humans help. Done. Easy. Instead Bay tacks on the hackneyed romantic subplot and "maverick vs authority" bullshit that he always does.
When you go to see a transformers film, everyone knows exactly what they're going to get and yet everyone seems surprised. Youtube can have things smashing, sure, but it doesn't beat being in the cinema with your friends watching something on a big screen which actually has production value (even if its value not to your taste)

Not really no. It just shows that Michael Bay is a resourceful director. No wonder he manages to get his movies under budget and on schedule.

To bad this talent is not being used on proper movies.
